One thing we can’t bring back is the time that has Passed.

After conquering most damaging negative habits like negative attitude and lack of confidence, let’s now move on to another negative habit called lack of discipline, a habit found in a relatively large number of people nowadays as people tend towards indiscipline more and more, these days.

Though the negative habit of lack of discipline is not even nearly as damaging as habits like negative attitude and lack of confidence, it can still cause problems for you in various spheres of your life, from time to time. You may be able to manage your life with occasional bumps and hurdles, even if you have this negative habit, as long as you aspire to do or achieve things only up to a level which may be called the middle level or at the most the upper middle level if you are loaded with many other positive qualities. So if all you want to do and achieve in this life belongs to the middle level or at the most to the upper-middle level, like a good job, a good car, a comfortable apartment, a good looking life partner and other such things and people which match this level, you may not want to bother much about improving this habit even if you have it, because most of you can get all the above mentioned things even without much discipline in your life.

However, if you are aiming for the very top in any field of life, lack of discipline is one negative habit you can’t afford to have. Search through the history of mankind and you will find that all the great achievers in various spheres of life have had a great sense of discipline. All the sports or games you play, the competition at the top level is always the toughest and in order to survive such competition and register a win, you can’t afford to have too many weaknesses or to be precise, any weaknesses, and lack of discipline can prove to be a very big weakness when you compete at the top levels of your life in various fields.

Look into the lives of all the self-made and successful people. You will find that in most cases, these people have managed all their affairs with great discipline and management. Simply try to look into the day to day lives of these people and you will find that they have made rules for eating, working, meeting others, relaxing and for performing other important activities which are compulsory to manage their lives in the best possible way. Seldom will you such find self made successful people who don’t have most things in their day to day routine sorted out and managed in a very impressive and timely manner.

And speaking about time, the management of time is undoubtedly one of the most favorite things among successful people. Effective time management is one of the best forms of discipline and it is very important if you want to reach and stay at the top. Look into the schedules of the most successful people and you will find that most of them have already prepared a schedule for the coming 10 or 20 days, or even longer, depending on their nature of work and on the level of success they have. This is because, at the topmost levels of competition, time is of great value and if there is one thing that all these successful people have less than the average man, without any doubts, that thing is time.

 

It is simple to understand that most of us love that thing the most, which is our favorite and which at the same time, isn’t available as much as we want. Have you ever wondered why billions of people wait for, watch and enjoy a football world cup or a cricket world cup event? This is because they love football or cricket very much and such an event comes after four or five years, and during this wait of four or five years, the hunger or thirst reaches its peak level. After that, when we get the treat, who would want to miss it?

If one of us gets to be in the company of Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt or any one of our favorite stars for a day; throughout the day, it will be one hell of a feeling of joy and pleasure. We will feel like we are flying in the sky. However, if Brad and Angelina spend a day together in the same manner like we did with one of them, their level of joy will not be the same, though they may have a very good day. The reason is that even though they may like each other much more than any of us likes anyone of them, they get to meet each other a lot and accordingly they are not as hungry for each other as we are for either of them, because their hunger and thirst for each other is taken care of, on regular basis.

Hence the things or people we like very much and at the same time don’t get much of them or as much as we want, are of utmost value for all of us and almost no one in this world is an exception to this rule. This rule holds true even in case of a divine hermit or a divine saint who wants nothing else but a vision of his respective lord because his lord is the only one he loves and wants the most and at the same time, his lord is the only one, he doesn’t get to see often, much or at all.

Coming back to the original topic, if there is one thing that most of these successful people operating on top levels don’t have as much as they want, that thing is time without any doubt. For this reason, all these people love their time more than anything else. If you ask a billionaire for help in the form of money, he may not be bothered much but if you ask him for a week or even a day of his life, you are likely to catch him speechless. Likewise, if you ask the Prime Minister or President of your country for a decent job or an election ticket from his party, he may be able to manage it but if you ask him to give you a week of his time, you will find him speechless too.

This is because most of these successful people have so many abilities and talents in them that they can achieve much more than they are currently achieving, if they had more time to do many more things. Since they don’t have that time, they have to make the most of the time they have on their hands. Time is of utmost value when you want to reach the top levels as well as when you want to maintain yourself on those levels. Hence you can’t afford to waste much time if you want to reach and stay on the top levels in many spheres of your life.

Therefore, effective time management is a must have habit if you want to succeed at the top levels of various spheres of your life and if you don’t have this habit, it means you have the other habit which is the opposite of this habit and which is called lack of discipline. This habit is most of the time accompanied by one more negative habit called ineffective time management, little time management or no time management. If you have this negative habit of lack of discipline and low value for your time, you will need to get rid of this habit as you simply can’t succeed at the top levels without getting rid of this habit.

As far as effective time management is concerned, it is not a very difficult habit to develop and most of us can develop this habit without much difficulty. In order to develop this habit, simply start maintaining a schedule for your important day to day activities and you will start having this habit right away. For example, if you are doing any type of job which allows you only two hours of free time in the evening and Saturday and Sunday as free days, start planning your non-official tasks in a way that you may do them effectively in your free time. Hence, instead of avoiding some compulsory home shopping on Saturday or Sunday and then taking a leave or half day on the next Tuesday or Wednesday, for the same shopping, learn to do this shopping during Saturday or Sunday and save yourself from taking an unwanted leave.

Always remember that if you want to succeed in your profession and you want to achieve at the top levels, you will have to put your work before most other things, most of the time in your life. Hence you should not stay away from your work or profession for much time and for reasons which you have created yourself due to poor management of time and due to lack of discipline. A strong sense of discipline in the same situation will tell you to get up and complete the shopping on Saturday, relax on Sunday and then go back to your job on Monday, with no pending house jobs which may affect your performance at work since it is your performance at work alone which is going to decide the level of success you reach in your professional sphere, in most cases. Hence learn to develop a habit of effective time management by planning your tasks and by planning the other important events in such a way that you engage in them in your free time so that they don’t affect your performance at work, in a negative way.

Coming to the habit of lack of discipline, some of you may have this habit of lack of discipline which is nothing else but failing to comply with some sets of rules or codes of conduct in your day to day life. Such rules are generally not very difficult to obey and you can obey most of them without much trouble. Not obeying these rules will certainly keep you away from success on top levels and hence you should start doing conscious effort in order to get rid of this negative habit of lack of discipline. You should instead make friends with the habit of discipline which will come to you automatically as the habit of lack of discipline goes away because only one of these habits can stay with you at a time. Hence, as the negative habit of lack of discipline leaves you, the positive habit of maintaining discipline will reach you or in other words, as discipline reaches you, lack of discipline will leave you.

In order to find some activities for effective treatment of this negative habit of lack of discipline, let’s first look into the root of this habit as the effective solution for this problem will come from its root only, as always is the case. People start developing this habit of lack of discipline when at a point of time they consciously start avoiding some simple rules or codes of behavior which are called discipline.

For example, coming home at night and parking your car on the road outside your house when you have a proper parking place in your garage and you don’t have a plan to go anywhere before the next morning.  Similarly, taking your shirt off and then leaving it on sofa instead of putting or hanging it in the cupboard or other one of its proper place, having your dinner sometimes at 9, sometimes at 10 and sometimes even at 11 in the evening even when you return home from your office at 8 PM on daily basis, leaving the gas tank of your car empty at night when you could easily get it filled on the way home and when this is the only car you have and you may need it at midnight in case of an emergency, not emptying your garbage bin for days even when it is full of junk and you only need to go a few steps to empty it, not polishing your shoes in the evening when you know that you need to leave early in the morning for an important job and you will need to wear those shoes, not reaching for most of your appointments on time, not completing your tasks on time, not arriving at your job on time, spending more than your income, not following a proper daily routine of eating, bathing, working, relaxing and many other such things will all be classified under lack of discipline.

In order to treat this problem of lack of discipline, start once again from the bottom and build your way up from there. At the first level of treating this problem, start putting conscious effort in making sure that you do all the small activities like the ones mentioned above with proper discipline and you will soon start seeing good changes in you. This is once again for the reason that each time you do conscious effort and obey these small codes of discipline, your conscious mind sends a message to your subconscious mind, a message which says, “I am disciplined now”, and accordingly your subconscious mind starts registering these messages. With the passage of time and with the help of conscious efforts, these messages will finally take shape of a new script which will be written on your subconscious mind and from there on, you won’t have to do much effort in order to be disciplined.

Have you wondered why the young or even very young kids of new generation are much smarter than we were at their ages when it comes to mental abilities? The reason which should be obvious by now is that through the introduction of various gadgets and through the revolution of the internet, the kids of the new generation are getting smarter and smarter in terms of mental abilities since they are practicing and exercising their minds far more than we did at their ages. All of you must know this simple rule, the more you practice in any sphere the better you become in it and as they are practicing or exercising their minds more and more, they are gaining more and more mental strength, mental abilities and greater levels of concentration.

So engaging in an activity which requires more mental effort than physical effort is a better way to treat this problem of low confidence and hence you should choose an activity which is the one that you really like doing, which is easy at the start and requires most of the job to be done by your mind. Care should be taken that if you choose to play games for this purpose, give them only a reasonable amount of time and don’t engage in them at the cost of other compulsory daily activities, since games are also addictive and hence you should only spend a reasonable amount of time with them.

Another trick that can increase the pace of your recovery is to play games that feature small rounds or levels of play compared to the games which are long and continuous; and you are more likely to do a marathon instead of a 100 meter sprint. Our primary objective in playing these games is to send more and more messages of, “I can do it”, to your subconscious mind. That will happen only once you complete a level, round or mission. When you play games that feature small rounds or levels, you will be able to send more signals to your subconscious mind as with the passage of every couple of minutes, you will get a message that will tell you that a round is complete, a level is complete, or a mission is complete. This message of completion is what will do the trick.

So avoid playing long continuous games in the beginning where you will see a message of completing anything after 10-20 minutes or even longer and instead stick to the games that give you these messages after every few minutes. Learn and remember this simple fact that each time you want to change the script written on your subconscious mind, you need more and more messages. Accordingly, you should target activities that keep giving you the message of success every now and then. This way, you will be able to send a greater number of messages in a comparatively less amount of time. Apart from this, each time you win in any sphere of life, irrespective of whether the win is big or small, you gain more confidence and strength to win the next time and for this exact reason we want to increase the number of wins achieved by us.

To speed up this process, engage in more than one such activity every day. This will ensure that you are not addicted to only one activity. Engaging in more and more activities means having more wins. This will give your confidence a greater boost and you become better and better at many things. Now, the messages sent to your subconscious mind will become something like, “I can do it and I can do many other things also” and such messages will increase the pace of your recovery. So choose more than one activity from a wide range of activities available and start doing them with increased resistance.

Once you feel comfortable with the first level, you may start observing that you are able to achieve wins in more and more challenging levels with less conscious effort. When this happens, it means that your subconscious mind has either stopped opposing you or is opposing you with less strength. This is when you are ready to move on to the next level.

In the next level, start doing the opposite of the first level where you chose an activity which is new for you and instead choose real activities from various spheres of your life where you have natural talent and start doing those activities more and more. This is due to the reason that since you have achieved a reasonable level of confidence, you are ready to deal with real things: things that can bring you success, appreciation or other value in life. When you start engaging in one such activity, always remember the golden rule which says that among all the available options which can do the same job for you, always choose the one that you find yourself most comfortable with. So choose an activity where you are naturally gifted so that you may achieve more in relatively shorter period of time and with relatively less effort.

You can start developing any of your talents which can help you succeed in your life and such talents may be different for different people. For example, it could be the study and practice of law for someone, a professional course in hotel management and job afterwards for someone, starting some practice or small-scale business like opening a food joint for someone, joining as a gym instructor for someone, becoming a teacher for someone, moving to another state or country for someone and many other such activities which may be different for different people. However, one single point which has to be common among all these different people is that all of them should choose a sphere of life or a field of profession to engage in, where they find themselves the most comfortable or so to say, naturally gifted. This is the key factor for gaining more and more confidence and this can’t be substituted for anything else and therefore you must stick to this rule.

For example, though you have gained confidence through various activities in the first level, it is a bad idea to open a food joint if you are gifted in teaching and you do just all right in cooking or managing. So don’t do such a thing as you will deal with a level of difficulty and resistance from your subconscious mind, which is far bigger than what you are accustomed to at this point. Accordingly you are likely to face more failures in this profession and as you start facing more and more failures in this job, however small the failures may be, you will start losing your confidence as your conscious mind will again start sending the message of, “I can’t do it”, to your subconscious mind. When this happens, your subconscious mind will once again start sending more and more fears to you and these fears will make it difficult for you to carry on, and once you decide to quit, you are back to where you were before starting this treatment and you will have to start from the scratch, once again.

For this reason, choose a profession where you feel most comfortable and where you are naturally gifted, though such a line of profession may offer you less money than the one you don’t like. So don’t be lured by financial offers and just follow your natural talent while choosing a job or profession and you will do much better in that line. The added bonus is that every time you achieve a win or a success which you will achieve often as this is the job you like, you will receive appreciation which will keep giving you more and more strength. On the other hand, if you have an opportunity to join a job with higher rewards, but don’t know much about it or don’t like it much, you will quit this job sooner or later, after a short or long period of mental torture, repeated failures and after taking a big hit on your confidence. So don’t always run after money and choose a job that you feel you can be the best at. By doing so, you will start seeing good results and you will start gaining more and more confidence.

While you go through this process more and more, it is highly recommended that you stay away from people with low confidence or people with negative attitude. The energy transferred through these people can make it more and more difficult for you to win over your problem of low confidence. For example, someone with a negative attitude or low confidence can bring down your confidence level with a simple line saying, “I once tried a couple of courses of personality development to gain confidence but after months of hard work, none of them worked”. Imagine how much damage such a line can do to your confidence and how many fears it can bring to your mind, at this stage! So Don’t engage in the company of people with low confidence or negative attitude until you have reached a point where you feel that your confidence has now become strong enough not to be shaken by such people.

On the contrary, it is always helpful to engage in the company of positive people as well as people with high confidence as their company will transfer a specific type of energy to your aura and this is the type of energy which you need the most to get out of your problem of low confidence at the earliest. Reading motivational books and listening to motivational speeches is also helpful as these books and speeches once again provide you with the exact kind of positive energy that you need in order to get out of your problem of low confidence and hence you should consider doing these things also, on regular basis. Reading or watching the life stories of great people who achieved great things by virtue of sheer courage and confidence also helps you gain more confidence and hence you should engage in this practice also, every now and then.

It should be noted that all books, speeches and other things will only motivate you to do something big in life and all these resources are not sufficient on their own to treat and cure this problem, in most cases. Learn this fact that when it comes to send specific messages to your subconscious mind and replace the script written on it, with a script saying ‘I can do it’, you have to do it again and again instead of simply repeating the words. Your subconscious mind is smart enough to know whether you are actually doing it or simply saying it. You must have read that actions speak louder than words and when it comes to deal with your subconscious mind, only actions will speak most of the time and words are not worth much.

Hence the real job is done through your actions and not through plain thoughts or resolutions which say that if someone else can do it, I can do it also. Such thoughts are good enough to encourage you to start doing something but they are not good enough to change the script of your subconscious mind on their own and hence you will need to engage in more and more specifically guided activities.

Another drawback of not doing specifically required activities and instead only listening to motivational speeches, or reading books or lives of great people is that while doing so, sometimes under a spell of over encouragement, you may decide to start with a job or activity which seems heroic but in reality, it is too difficult for you to complete at your present level of confidence as well expertise. Remember that most great people started with a small thing in the beginning and then, they built up from there. Almost none of them accomplished greatest of the things at the beginning as all great men know this simple fact through their life experiences that in order to raise and fix a flag of excellence on a building of success, it is first necessary to build the structure. Building this structure starts from the bottom and not from the top, which can’t survive even a minute without those strong foundations.

So consolidate your foundations first, through specifically targeted activities, and keep doing them over and over again until you have made your foundations strong enough to hold the building. Then start building the structure itself, all the way from bottom to top, slowly but steadily. This is the best mantra for success and you should strictly stick to it if you wish to raise a flag of excellence on the top of a building of success, the building of your success.

After you have successfully treated your habit of negative attitude, the next big obstacle in your path is the habit of lack of confidence which is also a very big problem to deal with and which has many branches of negative habits like having too many fears, too many inhibitions, lack of concentration and other such problems which have their root in this bigger problem called lack of confidence. Even though this problem is not as bad as the problem of negative attitude, it is still capable of taking so much away from you and particularly the big things or the biggest things that you are capable of achieving if you don’t have this problem. This is because all the big things in your life will almost always need a great deal of confidence from your side, an undivided faith that you will achieve them, which is not there if you lack confidence.

Lack of confidence is a problem of the subconscious mind and though it originates from a series of conscious efforts like most other problems, it finally writes a script on your subconscious mind, which says that you are not fit to do big tasks and you are not fit to achieve great things. As the intensity of this problem increases, sometimes, even small things become difficult to achieve if the individual has very low confidence. In order to know the best possible way to treat this problem, let’s look into the root cause of this problem as the best solution will always come from the root of the problem, because, once we know where the root of a problem lies, it is easier for us to treat it and remove it.

This problem starts when a person is consciously afraid of doing something or dealing with a situation for the first time. As the person chooses to back away, his conscious mind sends a signal to his subconscious mind to the effect that he wants to run away from facing difficult situations. This is not much trouble as only one message has been sent to the subconscious mind. Therefore, there is nothing much to worry about. As this person repeats the same conscious acts again in different situations that he thinks are difficult to deal with, his conscious mind keeps sending more and more signals to his subconscious mind to the effect that he doesn’t want to deal with difficult situations. With repeated messages, a time comes when they take the form of a script written on the subconscious mind. This is where the problems start getting out of hand.

Since the subconscious mind has registered the script of running away from difficult situations, it starts working accordingly. Hence each time you face a situation that may seem difficult, your subconscious mind starts sending fears in the form of inner voices. These inner voices may be like, “Don’t try this task as if you fail you will face great loss” or “Don’t go ahead with this situation, as if you fail, people will laugh at you”. Sometimes, it maybe a stronger message of fear such as, “This is too much for you to handle, so back away!” As a result, you start backing away from more and more situations and this makes your problem even worse as each time you back out, your conscious mind sends another signal to your subconscious mind. Accordingly, your subconscious mind will put up greater resistance, the next time you want to try something big or something reasonable even.

Like most other problems originating from various types of negative energies in your aura, this problem also keeps aggravating more and more with the passage of time as you continuously keep backing away from difficult looking situations due to the fears of your mind which come to you in form of inner voices, in most cases. As this problem becomes more and more rooted, you will start observing that you are now finding it difficult to do the jobs which are comparatively easier and which you were able to do only a few years or even a few months ago. This is because, as this problem increases, your subconscious mind starts sending you more and more fears each time you want to try something and accordingly you find it more difficult to face situations, attempt things and deal with people and this is the point when your confidence has hit a real low point.

Since the problem began with a single, conscious act of backing away from a situation, to treat the problem effectively, we will need to start making conscious efforts in the exact opposite direction and change the script written on your subconscious mind. This has to be done with the help of conscious messages sent to your subconscious mind through conscious acts in the opposite direction. At the first level of treating this problem, you need to start with conscious acts of doing and completing small tasks again. Each time you complete such a task, your conscious mind will send a signal to your subconscious mind where this signal will say that you can do it now. As this signal gets stronger and stronger with repetition, your subconscious mind will start sending fewer fears each time you try to do something. Accordingly, you will find it easier to take up more and more challenges and complete them.

Looking at some activities that can help you in treating this problem in the best possible way, start with small acts that are not difficult to do, and at the same time are ones that you don’t do often or have not tried at all. For example, choose an easy-to-play game on a computer or a video game and start playing it. It should be noted that in order to make the most of this activity, you should start engaging in such acts on your own in the first step. Avoid the involvement of other people. This is why I suggested a computer game or a video game instead of playing a physical game with someone else as in such a case, your fears of losing to a person again and again and being embarrassed again and again will be much stronger in comparison to when you are playing alone and no one is there to know whether you win or lose.

Another thing that you should note is that you should always play the game that you find easiest, even if you have to play all the available games on a computer and find out which is the easiest one for you. Different people are comfortable with different types of activities and accordingly, they have better chances of performing at their best in different activities. This is why you should choose a game that you really like and which seems the easiest to you. As you start completing more and more levels of this game with conscious efforts, your conscious mind starts sending more and more positive messages to your subconscious mind. As your subconscious mind starts receiving more and more messages of success and confidence, it will start sending fewer fears first and finally it will start sending messages of inspiration and strength when the whole script has been replaced with the new script of, ‘I can do it’, which can take a long time and which is far away from this step.

At this first level, if you know or find out that computer games, video games or any other types of games are not your cup of tea as you don’t like any types of games to start with, you don’t need to play any games as there are a number of other activities to choose from and these activities can also do the same job for you. These activities include indulging in any one of the physical activities like walking, jogging, running, swimming, going to the gym, cycling, rope skipping, aerobics, yoga or any other such activities. Here again the basic mantra is to choose the one that you feel most comfortable with and then start doing it with increased levels of resistance introduced after regular intervals of time. For example, if you find that you are the most comfortable with running, start with a mile run or even half a mile run without stopping and then move up from there on regular basis like adding half a mile or so, every week or every two weeks.

Apart from physical activities, some other types of activities are also available, which can help you achieve the same goal. Such activities may require you to learn a new language, learn and remember complete lyrics of more and more songs, learn and remember more and more poems, learn and practice cooking more and more dishes, learn and remember more and more about places of significance, learn and remember about great people in history of mankind, learn and remember more and more valuable quotes and sayings as well as their meanings, learn and practice new talents like sewing, painting, writing, singing, playing guitar, playing piano and a wide variety of other such activities.

The important thing here is that if you choose to learn something that needs to be remembered or practiced like lyrics of the songs and cooking new dishes, you should not simply learn and disengage as that won’t complete the task. Hence you should keep repeating such practices so that you are consciously doing them again and again and through these repeated conscious efforts, you are able to send more and more signals to your subconscious mind where these signals will say, “I can do it and I can do it again and again”.

The reason I gave priority to video games, computer games or any other types of games is that they will require maximum conscious effort from your mind. Since this problem is of the mind, engaging in more and more practices that require more effort from your mind than from your body will do this job in far less time. In addition to this, games come with a number of benefits. There is no doubt that playing games requires conscious mental effort and will increase your concentration as concentration is the first thing you need to play these games. Next advantage is that games are relatively easy though effective, when compared to physical activities like running or cycling which require much physical activity and accordingly you may not like them much.

Apart from this, playing games is one activity that you can do for hours and hours whereas you can engage in many other activities like running or cycling, or learning to cook new dishes, only for a relatively short period of time every day. Above all these things, playing such games will sharpen your mental abilities day by day as these games require most of the effort from your end, in form of mental effort and as we already know, the more you practice with any part of your body or your mind, the stronger it becomes.

As you start posting more and more such comments, with each one of these positive comments written after conscious effort of finding good in people, places and things, your conscious mind will start sending messages to your subconscious mind that you now want to see the good in people. Hence slowly but surely, your subconscious mind will start replacing the old script of finding bad in people or negative attitude, with the new script of finding good in people or positive attitude. As this script starts getting stronger with your continuous conscious efforts, your subconscious mind will start coming to your help and at this point you will be able to see that it has now become easier for you to notice good in people, things and places and now you need far less effort.

Another good thing is that when you start posting beautiful and unique comments about your friends, sooner than later, they will start recognizing that your comments are quite different from the other usual comments and that you have taken your time to find beautiful things about them and then write them. When it happens, you will start receiving positive vibes of thankfulness from these friends and such vibes will give a big boost to your confidence as you witness that you efforts are being recognized. All you have to do from here is to gain more and more positivity.

An interesting fact about energy which has already been mentioned by me earlier in this book is that if you send negative energy from your aura to other people by means of various activities, you will receive negative energy in return and if you send positive energy from your aura to other people by virtue of various types of positive activities, you will get positive energy in return. So as you start sending positive energy to your friends, they will send back more and more positive energy which will certainly improve the net energy equation of your aura and hence you start having better and better energy equation or improved aura with the passage of time.

After some time, you will feel that you have mastered this first level or you have become comfortable with this first level and you will start feeling that in order to put a beautiful comment on a picture, you don’t have to work hard now and you don’t need much time now since it has started coming easily to you. This is the time when you are ready for the next level and as you already know that even though the next level will be more difficult, you now have the support of your subconscious mind and you have also received much positive energy by virtue of positive activities that you did in the present level.

In the next level, start dealing with real life situations and try to find the good in people, things and places. Since you have already developed a habit of giving complements and finding good in people, places and things, it should not be difficult for you at this stage. Start with simple but true comments that appreciate the people you meet. For example, you can say, “Oh Ana, this red dress looks really good on you and by the way, red is my favorite color too!” or “Mr. Smith, this new hair style gives you quite a different look, in a good way!” or “Your apartment is really impressive and I especially like your living room!” or “Oh, you’re going for a vacation to Europe? It’s beautiful and you’ll surely love it!” and other such complements which are honest and positive.

The only thing that you have to keep in mind while engaging in these activities is that your complements should involve conscious effort and they must be honest. For example, if you don’t like red, don’t say that red is your favorite color just in order to make the complement more pleasing and in this case, simply say, “Red looks really good on you”. Always remember that sooner or later people will get to know whether your efforts are real or fake and hence always make real and honest efforts. As you keep telling good things to other people and especially the good things or qualities they already had in them but you couldn’t see and likewise many other people didn’t see, you will find that the people you are complementing will start being more friendly with you. Some of them will also start doing small favors for you, which will start increasing your faith in them and you will start trusting people more and more as you start finding that there are many good qualities in them and they really want to wish well for you.

A very important thing to note is that while you are consciously working to get rid of this habit of negative attitude, you should absolutely stay away from such people around you who may have the same habit of negative attitude. This is a must follow rule and it is so important that even if your own mother, father, brother, sister, best friend or your spouse is seriously affected by this habit, start avoiding their company as much as you can until the point you have gained a fairly good amount of positive energy and you know that you can only grow more positive from here. As already mentioned in the first section of this book, people with negative attitude or negative energy will keep sending more and more negative energy to you through their speech, body language, touch and through other means. At the early stages, negative energy coming in high quantities to you is the last thing you want if you wish to get rid of this habit of negative attitude.

Once you have achieved a good level of positive attitude, you can choose to be with selective people with negative attitude like your close relatives or friends but even at this stage, you should avoid people with negative attitude whom you can afford to avoid. The kind of company you keep on regular basis or the kind of people you deal with on regular basis is a very important factor in making you a positive or a negative person and accordingly you should choose very wisely who will you spend your time with as it is a very important factor in giving you more good habits or more bad habits.

While going through this treatment of negative attitude, as much as you benefit by staying away from negative people, you get even more amount of benefit by keeping the company of more and more people with positive or strong positive attitude. More time you spend in the company of such people more positive energy will come to you and accordingly you will find it easier to get rid of your habit of negative attitude. The company of people with strong positive attitude is really very helpful in such cases as these people provide you with lots of positive energy and motivation. At the same time, you will get to engage in more and more positive activities in their company, because engaging in more and more positive activities is what people with strong positive attitude do, most of the time.

As this practice of finding beauty in people continues and as you start doing it more often, you will find that a stage has reached where you don’t have to do much conscious effort to spot the beauty or good in people and then complement them. Now the first thing that comes to your mind when you see a person, thing or place is a beautiful or good thing about them which is exactly the opposite of what it was before; and which was negative things coming to your mind whenever you saw people things or places. This is the point where your negative attitude has been treated and you can build up from here, more and more.

Always remember that most people, things and places have good as well as bad traits in them as no one or nothing is perfect in this world. However, whether you find more good things or more bad things about them, depends on whether you have a positive attitude or a negative attitude. Isn’t it a small but surprising example of the mindset of different people that if you keep a glass half filled with water and then ask different people what does the glass look like, some will say that the glass is half filled whereas some others will say that the glass is half empty. In reality, the glass is half filled as well has half empty but the ones who see this glass as half filled have positive mindsets and they only want to see the good about this glass whereas the ones who see this glass as half empty have negative mindsets and accordingly they only want to see the bad about this glass.

Hence people, places or things won’t change in most cases. It is you who has to change and this change means the change in your attitude or mindset. Yes, there will always be some people or things which won’t work well for you or which won’t suit you even if you have a strong positive attitude but such people or things are not many in numbers or in percentage and once you have a positive mindset, you will find that you are now happy in the company of more and more people and things.

Remember that in most cases, you will always find what you really want to find. If you really want to see the bad in people, most people will always look bad to you whereas if you really want to see the good in people, most people will look good to you. When your attitude changes, those that seemed negative or bad to you will now appear positive!

They are the same people who were bad for you when you had negative attitude and they are the same people who are good for you when you have positive attitude. This situation is the exact opposite now, but none of them has changed. The only thing that has changed is you. This is why the title of this book is “Heaven and Hell Within, Which one do you want?” All heavenly pleasures come from within your mind, they start motivating you to do more and more good, so you do more and more good and accordingly, you start getting more and more good things in return.

On the other hand, all bad things also rise from within you, they motivate you to do more bad, so you do more bad and accordingly, you start getting bad experiences in return, from the outside world. Even though you have received good things in one case and bad things in the other, one thing is common in both cases: you have only received what you really wanted to receive. By now, all of you must be fully aware of the strength and power of your mind and you may be wondering how everything in the outside world can change merely if we change ourselves.

When a drop of water falls into the mud, it becomes mud, but if the same drop of water falls on a lotus, it shines like a pearl and if the same drop of water falls into the mouth of an oyster, it actually becomes a pearl. Though the drop of water is the same in all cases, the result is different in each case, depending on who receives this drop of water.

People in this world are like this drop of water and in most cases, it all depends on what you want to get out of them. If you choose to be mud, you get mud in return. If you choose to be a lotus, you get bright shining results from people and if you choose to be an oyster, you get beautiful results in the shape of pearls from the same people. Though such a stage is difficult to reach, and it may take you a long time to reach this stage, it can finally be reached. Hence you should start walking towards this goal of having a highly positive aura or a highly positive attitude. Once you start covering more and more distance on the path of positivity, more and more beautiful and amazing rewards will be delivered to you and accordingly you will be in a better position to enjoy life to the fullest, by spreading good things and getting good things in return.

Most people in this world are a mixture of good as well as bad and they will serve as a mirror to you. Hence if you are beautiful yourself, you will see a beautiful picture of yourself in them whereas if you are ugly yourself, you will see an ugly picture of yourself in them. In simple words, if you choose to do beautiful things to these people, they will return them with beautiful things and hence the picture looks beautiful. Even though you may think that this beautiful picture is theirs but in reality this picture is yours because these people are only reflecting the same beauty that started from within you and hence this is your own beautiful picture. On the other hand, if you choose to do ugly things to these people, they will return them with ugly things also and in this case your picture looks ugly when seen in the mirror of these people.

So stop blaming or cleaning the mirror if you are not able to see a beautiful picture of yourself in it and stat recognizing the fact that in order to look beautiful in this mirror, you will actually need to be beautiful and by this time, all of you know how to do it. So start doing it and all the best for this beautiful journey.

                                               Their Glass is always half Empty

Negative attitude is one of the biggest hurdles in your path to success and hence you need to act with utmost urgency if you know or find that you have a negative mindset or attitude or a negative way of looking at things. A negative attitude will keep making the conscious and the subconscious mind more and more negative. Accordingly, it will make everything and everyone go away from you as no good things and people can stay with a person who has a negative attitude.

An interesting fact about people with negative attitude is that many times these people themselves don’t know that they suffer from this problem and instead they may think that they are comparatively reserved or choosy in nature but not negative in attitude. If such is the case with anyone of you and you are not able to decide whether you are suffering from this problem or not, let me help you out in deciding, with the help of some guidelines and examples.

The most prominent feature of the personality of the people with negative attitude is that when they look at people or things, most of the time they look for their flaws first and their first opinion about most people or things is negative. It is a fact that almost all the people as well as all the things in this world have good as well as bad characteristics though some of them may have more good ones and some others may have more bad ones. A person with a positive attitude will almost always first look for the positive qualities or characteristics of a person whereas a person with a negative attitude will almost always spot the negative characteristic of a person. Some of these people are so good at being negative that they are able to spot a negative trait of a person or a thing at first look, even if it is the only negative trait that this person or thing may have. This proves the line which says that you always find what you truly look for. These people look for negative traits in people and things, with all their heart, conscious and subconscious mind, and accordingly they find negative things only.

Let’s now look at some real life examples in order to understand this negative trait in a better way. In real life, you may hear people with negative attitudes  saying things like, “look that woman is wearing an out of fashion dress” even though the woman may be looking beautiful in that dress; or, “that guy standing in that corner has a bad taste in shoes” even though the guy may otherwise be looking handsome; or, “look, this new car has some dirt on its bumper”, even though the car may be otherwise clean; or “that girl is not wearing a matching pair of shoes”, “that guy doesn’t know how to shave properly”, “this park is so noisy” even though it may be a very beautiful park; “these kids should not play in front of our house” even though it’s a common place and all kids play there; “that woman is too short”, “that guy is too tall”, “your grandma speaks too much”, “your grandpa speaks too little”, “your brother smiles too much”, “your sister smiles too little”, “the food is less salty”, “the water is too cold” and millions of other such things.

The essence of all these examples is that such people will always look for negative traits in people, things and places, instead of looking for the positive ones. They are good at spotting negative traits and they don’t bother much about finding positive traits in people, things or places. This is because through conscious engagement in negative attitudes, they have written a script on their subconscious minds to the effect that they only want to look for negative things. Accordingly, their subconscious mind helps them when they try to spot drawbacks or weaknesses. Since they have the support of their subconscious mind, they are exceptionally good at finding negative traits. All they really want to see are negative traits and accordingly they see negative traits only.

One more interesting fact about these people is that many times, the negative trait that they are seeing in a person, thing or place may not actually be present in such person, thing or place and they may only perceive that this person has that negative trait. For this reason, such people may be able to build mountains of negativity out of a mole of negativity. Hence if you ask these people to find and tell 5 bad things about a person, they will do so with much ease in most cases whereas if you ask these people to find and tell 5 good things about a person, you will find that they are really struggling hard in finding those 5 things and some of them may not be able to succeed even after their best conscious effort.

Another worth mentioning feature of these people is that many times they speak with a negative clause in their sentences when they could have simply done it with a simple positive sentence. For example, if they are asked a choice between tea and coffee, they may say something like, “I will have coffee as I don’t like tea” whereas a person with a positive attitude will simply say, “I will have coffee”. Likewise they can often be found using other negative phrases like, “Out of these two cars I like the red one as I don’t like green color” instead of simply saying “I like the red one more”; or “I will watch a movie as I don’t like watching football” instead of simply saying “I will watch a movie”, and many other such sentences. These people may have done well with simple positive sentences but they choose to put negative clauses in most of their sentences.

The reason once again is their negative attitude which wants to find the bad in people and things and accordingly even if they like something, they may add a clause which says that they don’t like something else when that something else may not be needed in that sentence. These people have written such a strong script of finding the bad in people and finding ways to complain and criticize on their subconscious minds that their minds continuously keep working to insert negative clauses even in their sentences. If any one of you has reached such a stage where even the most simple sentences are coming negative out of your mouth, you really need some hard work to do in order to get out of such strong negative attitude.

Such is the power of a true negative mind and this is why such an attitude is one of the biggest problems that one may face while moving forward with his life and while achieving good things in various spheres of his life. Such people are especially likely to do bad or very bad in human relationships as they keep finding faults with others who are in touch or in relationship with them due to which other people start avoiding them sooner or later.

There are various other branches of this habit of negative attitude and some of them are; not trusting other people and even the near ones, doubting most people and then even doubting yourself, criticizing other people a lot, finding ways to complain in various spheres of your life on account of one excuse or the other and other such negative traits which are basically all rooted in this bigger problem of negative attitude. Hence in order to treat any one of these negative traits mentioned above, you will need to treat the root of these habits which is negative attitude.

As these people have serious lack of trust, it becomes very difficult for them to trust most people who come in touch with them and accordingly they do very poor at human relations. This is because, if you are not able to trust most people around you, you will never be able to open up with them and you will never be able to start doing something big with them or through them as you always keep doubting that they will cheat you at one point or the other. Hence you keep yourself restricted and accordingly you start pushing other people away from you and sooner or later, most people who come in touch with you, start feeling uncomfortable with you and they move away from you since you are not able to give them the trust they deserve.

These people often try to find ways to complain against someone or something and this is one more problem which makes it difficult for them to succeed as the attitude of excessive complaining and excessive criticism will ultimately drive most of the good people away from them since no good person likes to be criticized again and again for the things or situations where he didn’t do much wrong or anything wrong at all. Hence, this habit is very destructive when it comes to human relationships and especially in case of love affairs and marriages as the other person involved in the equation gets tired of continuous complaints made by this person with negative attitude, continuous doubts raised by him and excessive criticism by him. Finally, the partner of this person having negative attitude moves away from him, in most such cases. So, if you have this habit of negative attitude whether it is strong at this point or it has just gained some strength, it is important to start treating it as it will finally close all the doors of this world for you.

Looking at some techniques or activities which may come handy when you start treating this habit of negative attitude, we should once again look at the root cause of this problem at first and then take appropriate steps to treat this problem from the root. The root cause of negative attitude is the lack of trust in people and a strong subconscious tendency to find negative traits in people, things and places. Accordingly, we will need to address it from the root of the problem and here is how to start doing this treatment with the help of some really easy activities.

Since you have a strong subconscious tendency to look for bad in people, things and places; in order to treat your problem in the most effective way, you have to start engaging in small but conscious activities of finding good and finding beauty in people, things and places. This will start overwriting the previous script on your subconscious mind and you will finally develop a subconscious habit of seeing good in people, things and places, which in other words means that you will develop a positive attitude which may seem far away from this point but which can certainly be reached and the following activities will help you achieve this goal.

As a first step, take a scenario when you are alone and no one is with you since this way, no one will judge you and you can take all the time and effort that you need in order to improve yourself. Now start with a small activity like opening your Facebook account 5 to 10 times daily and then look for the friends who have updated their status with pictures, thoughts or other types of updates. Start observing them and try to find something good about each one of them or about most of them. Let’s say you start with finding a good thing about every picture that your friends post and then comment on that picture with the mention of that good thing. For example, if someone is wearing a wow looking shirt, notice it and point it out in your comment which may be something like, “this shade of red suits you a lot” or “you look really good in this shade of blue”. Likewise, if a friend is wearing a very good pair of ear rings, notice it and point it out in your comment which may once again be something like, “very beautiful picture and especially your ear rings which add much more to your beauty”.

It should be noted that the whole point of doing this activity is to make a conscious effort of finding good things about people, things and places and hence you should never try this activity with universally proven formal comments like, “nice pic, beautiful pic, you look nice or simply saying nice”. This is because if you choose to type such comments, you won’t engage your conscious mind in any type of activity and hence you won’t see any results. However, when you try to find one or two good things in a picture, you will engage your conscious mind in this practice and this is what we need in order to treat you. Though it may seem like an easy job to you but it is not; as your habit of negative attitude will make it very difficult for you to find good, particularly in the beginning.

For example, when you start with the first picture that anyone in your friend list has posted, the first things that you notice will be bad things or negative points in that picture, but don’t worry as this is the natural you with a habit of negative attitude. So try again and find one good thing or point about that picture and then mention that point in your comment. Even though it may take you a long time to do so with your first few pictures, but as I said, you have the luxury of all the time you need and in addition to that, no one is there to judge you. It should also be noted that your overall comment should be positive and it should not be a negative one with a positive part like, “oh I love your ear rings though your dress should have been a bit brighter” or “this red really suits you a lot though my favorite is green” and other comments like this where despite the positive thing you noticed and put in, the overall comment is negative.

Too Many Vices

More and more people have become addicted to various types of vices after 1990. One reason for this increase in addictions is that after this time, more and more such products have appeared which have the potential to damage you physically as well as mentally. Though some of them may cause less damage and some of them may cause more damage, they all do the same thing more or less. Be it smoking, alcohol, various types of natural and synthetic drugs, excessive physical indulgence in women and especially in the company of paid sex workers, and all other such things, they all cause damage to your body as well as to your mind. As your body and mind start losing their potential, your chances of achieving good things in your life keep decreasing and there is no doubt about that.

Such vices not only cause damage to your physical and mental health but they also reduce the positive energy of your aura and as a result you start losing one of the three essential factors required for achieving most good things in your life. It should be easy to understand that all such short term pleasure giving things need resources and accordingly they reduce the amount of positive energy in your aura, by spending more and more positive energy to get these resources. Hence you start losing more and more positive energy from your aura which means you start having less chances of achieving success in your life, unless you keep adding more and more positive energy to your aura by indulging in more and more good karmas and you are able to maintain the balance of positive energy in your aura.

An interesting thought may come to the mind that even though we are all told that all such vices cause damage to our bodies as well as minds and at the same time they also reduce the positivity of our auras, why is it so that many of the richest and most successful people use a number of such short term pleasure giving things? How is it allowed to them? Well, such things are not allowed to them either but many of them don’t suffer much loss through these vices due to two factors. The first one is the fact that they initially had big amount of positive energy in their auras and therefore they can afford to spend a part of this positive energy on these resources for a long period of time. The second reason is that even though such rich or successful people are spending more and more positive energy to get these pleasures or resources, they may be simultaneously adding even more positive energy to their auras than they are spending and hence they are able to survive and afford these vices with minimum losses.

To make it easy to understand, let’s take an example of three people. Let’s assume that all three spend USD 5,000 per month on various expenses. Let’s assume that the first person has a monthly income of USD 8,000, the second has a monthly income of USD 6,000 and the third has a monthly income of USD 4,000. In this case, the first person will still be able to save USD 3,000 per month though he spends USD 5,000 per month. The second will be able to save USD 1,000 per month as his income is also greater than his expenses. But the third person will end up suffering a loss. Since he faces a deficit of USD 1,000 per month as his expenses are more than his income, he is likely to make up for this deficit through savings that he may have made in the past, or through other means. As time goes by, the net savings of the first and the second person are increasing though they are increasing at a much higher rate in case of the first person whereas the net savings of the third person are decreasing and a day will come, when this person has no savings to manage this deficit.

It is the same in case of positive energy in your aura. Accordingly, people who have a large amount of positive energy in their aura or people who add more positive energy to their auras than they spend will still be able to maintain a positive balance of energy. On the other hand, the people who are spending more positive energy than they are adding to their auras are surely going to land in trouble, sooner or later. It should also be noted that even though rich or successful people with highly positive auras are able to maintain positivity by means of good karma, they still lose the chance to add even more positive energy to their auras by spending the energy in these vices.

A healthy person can eat lots of sugars but a person with hyperglycemia or high blood sugar should not eat even small amounts of sugar. The reason, once again, is that the circumstances are different in case of different people and whereas some people can do a thing without any problem, some others may land in trouble if they try the same thing.  Hence learn this moral once again that you should not compare yourself with others or copy others and you should only find out what works for you and what works against you and then act accordingly.

Getting back to the vices and looking at some possible treatments for them, there are some types of vices for which you may need to go through de-addiction courses. If such a thing is required, you must get it done. For all other kinds of vices that you can control or quit on your own, even though it may be a difficult thing to do, there are always some useful tricks which can help you reduce and quit such vices. These tricks may include different things, and sometimes, even opposite looking techniques.

For example, if you want to quit smoking, it is not a good idea to quit it all at once as it may be very difficult for you to do so as the level of resistance is more than your ability. Hence you should start by reducing the number of cigarettes per day and then keep reducing from there as you are able to do this practice from an easy level to a comparatively difficult level and so on. However, in case you are a heavy consumer of alcohol, the same trick may not work at all for you and you may need to take a somewhat different approach and here is how.

Those who consume alcohol in high quantities are likely to agree that it is difficult or very difficult to control the quantity of alcohol you consume in a session. This is because, after a certain quantity of alcohol goes into the body, you are not able to control much of anything and you start doing whatever you feel like. This happens because alcohol impacts your conscious mind and reduces the ability of your conscious mind to operate normally and control your actions. Accordingly, your thoughts and actions are not filtered through your conscious mind anymore and you start doing whatever you wish to do or you are not able to control your actions as much as you were able to do before.

For this reason, it is never a good idea to start controlling your consumption of alcohol by reducing the amount of alcohol that you consume during one session because your conscious mind becomes weak after you consume a specific amount of alcohol. As your conscious mind gets weaker, it is more difficult for you to consciously resist consuming more alcohol since you will need the support of your conscious mind to fight the urge for more alcohol and your conscious mind is not as strong as it generally is.

Hence in case of alcohol and other addictive substances that weaken your conscious mind when you consume them, it is a better idea to reduce the number of days of a week you consume such substances. So if you are consuming high quantities of alcohol and you are doing it six times a week, it is better to start reducing such consumption by reducing the number of days per week one by one in the beginning and then build up from there. This way, when you decide to reduce the consumption of alcohol from six times a week to five times a week, on the day which you are off the alcohol; your conscious mind is not under the effect of alcohol and hence it is in a better position to help you in a stronger way.

Another trick that may help beginners make this process comparatively easier is that on the day you have decided to stay away from alcohol, plan something that really interests you or that you really like doing, at the same time when you consume alcohol on that day. This will help keeping your mind busy with something else and since you like this activity very much, you won’t feel much for the absence of alcohol. You can spend your time watching your favorite movie, going out with your girlfriend, spending time on Facebook or any other internet activities, reading a book of your taste or indulging in any other activity that you like doing a lot.

Once you start feeling comfortable with having alcohol 5 times a week and you start feeling that even if you don’t engage in the special activities, it is not difficult for you to stay away from alcohol, you can move on to the next level. Reduce one more day of consuming alcohol. Make it four days a week, now. You already know which factors will help you achieve this target. This way, you can reduce and control your consumption of alcohol or other such substances and bring it to a level that is fine for you, say once or twice a week.

It should be noted that in case of alcohol, you need to control it only if you are using it in excessive quantities, many times a week whereas if you are just a social drinker or you consume alcohol on regular basis but in very controlled quantities, you may not need to bother much about controlling it further. Once again, it varies from individual to individual and you have to find out first, whether the consumption of alcohol is affecting your performance or not and if the answer is yes, start working on it and control it.

The reason I have taken this topic right after the topic of laziness is that having a negative habit of leaving things incomplete is a specific type of laziness and that is why we are dealing with it right after laziness.

Many of you may have observed that there are some people who are not as lazy as it needs to be called lazy in general, but they have a habit of leaving things incomplete. These people have a habit of doing things in a not very polished and furnished way. They are just happy with doing the core part of most things and then they don’t bother for polishing and furnishing of such things or jobs. For example, you may have seen some people who start a project on work, complete it as much as 70% to 80% or even more and then let it hang for a comparatively longer period of time or they complete this project but they don’t submit it for a comparatively long period of time or when they submit the project, they don’t present it in a very organized way even though they may have made a good project.

Similarly, you may have seen people who are good or very good at cooking delicious food but they don’t bother much about how to serve it properly and in a decorated way like this food deserves to be served, the people who set 2 Km run on the treadmill and then stop at 1.8 or 1.9 Km, the people who get off a machine when the calorie reading is 295 or 395 instead of completing 300 or 400, the people who take up the job of mountain climbing but return from 70% or 80% of the way, the people who have a beautiful house but they don’t maintain it properly and hence things can be found here and there instead of being in their proper places, the people who wear good clothes and shoes but don’t care much about cleanliness and condition of their clothes and shoes, the people who many times leave some of their food uneaten and then thrown to the bin, the people who often forget to carry some very important things with them like a driving license and regret or suffer later, and many other such people.

These people suffer from a specific type of laziness which can be called careless attitude, not finishing their jobs properly or by some other names also. Due to this negative trait in their personality, they become less dependable in many cases and in some cases, it becomes very difficult to deal with them if this habit reaches its peak and you see them doing most things in an incomplete or in an irresponsible manner. Even though some of you may think that this habit is not likely to cause much damage to a person but in many cases, it alone is capable of breaking a good relationship, preventing big things or big achievements from coming to you and causing many other losses in many other spheres of your life. Therefore it is important to take care of this negative habit in due time as otherwise it can cause serious damages in the long run.

Looking at few more examples in order to understand this problem in a better way, most of these people start doing such things right from the comfort of their homes. For example, whenever these people come home from job or from someplace else, they throw their clothes here and there instead of putting or hanging them at their proper places and these clothes keep lying here and there for many hours and sometimes for a couple of days and likewise, they also throw their shoes around and not bother for them until they need them next. If you look into their bathrooms, you will find that many such clothing items are hanging there, which are not worn in bathroom and which have no job in bathroom. You will also find that, there are probably many toothbrushes including old and damaged toothbrushes which have not been thrown out, many bottles of shampoo and other such products where once again some of them look too old to be used and you can simply understand that all such products are waiting to be thrown to the bin, but they are still in the queue.

Now move to their kitchen and you will find that many of the grocery items have not been categorized properly and some of them are not even in the right places. Unwashed dishes are waiting in sink at a time of the day when they should not be there. Some partly eaten food items are still lying here and there in kitchen, which should have been put in refrigerator after eating a part of them, and many other such scenes may be observed. Look at their house and you will find that even though it is being managed and taken care of, but not as often and not as well as it should have been, their car keys are in the wrong place, their cell phone, TV remote and other such things are lying here and there and many such scenes are easy to observe.

As such a person starts engaging more and more in such practices of leaving things incomplete, with each one of these activities, his conscious mind starts conveying message to his subconscious mind that it is not important to complete things or do jobs in their due or proper manner. Once this script is written on his subconscious mind, this problem starts becoming bigger as his subconscious mind starts sending him various types of inner voices whenever he wants to complete a job or task. Such inner voices may once again contain a message like, ‘leaving the taken off clothes on sofa for a while is all right and there is nothing wrong with it’, ‘what is the point in washing the dishes at once when you can do them later on in a much relaxed way’, ‘why do you need to put the TV remote at a proper place when it is just a remote and nothing important’ and many other such messages which tell him not to bother much and to chill, chill and chill more.

Accordingly this person starts to chill more and sooner than he knows, he is unworthy of doing anything big or taking big things to their proper end as he has now developed a habit of not bothering much about how to give a proper finish to all the jobs and he is satisfied with simply completing a part of the job. As a result, this person will start suffering on the professional front as well as on the personal front. For example, if such a person is a tailor and you have given him a suit to be made and then you go to him on the date given by him, you will most likely get a reply like, ‘the suit is almost finished but the buttons and zips are left and that you should come tomorrow or the day after’. This type of answer certainly irritates you and when such things happen again and again, you may decide not to go to this tailor again as in your opinion, he is not a dependable person and rightly so. It is interesting to note that this tailor may have actually finished about 80% of your job by the due date, but just because of his habit of leaving things incomplete, he has lost a client.

Likewise, if such a person is your car mechanic and has promised to deliver your car by 5 in the evening, even if you go to him at 6, he will tell you that either the washing is left or some other small job is left and that you should come back in 2-3 hours. If such a person is a tuition teacher, you will find his students complaining that mostly, he skips one thing or the other from a chapter or a topic and even though he teaches all right, he always delivers less than 100%. It should be noted that most of these people are well capable of delivering good results by virtue of their physical and mental abilities but they have simply developed a habit of delivering less than 100%, which means a habit of leaving things incomplete. This habit makes them less dependable and sometimes not dependable at all. Accordingly, they start losing out on various fronts of their lives.

Looking at the root of this problem in order to treat it, the root as well as the treatment for this negative trait lies in the very house of such people, as this is where it all started from. Hence the same golden rule applies – if you want to improve on big things, you have to start from small things. Start sending signals to your subconscious mind and tell it that you are no longer all right with leaving things incomplete. You know that you can send these signals by consciously engaging in small but specific activities. To start with, make sure that each time you get home from anywhere else, you always put your clothes, shoes, watch and other such things at their proper places before you take rest, or even before you eat your meal, of course if you don’t have a habit of eating your meals in your formal clothes which is one more concern on subconscious level.

As you start writing a new script on your subconscious mind, through this conscious and specifically directed activity, you will start feeling more and more comfortable in moving on to the next level of difficulty as your subconscious mind has now received the new script and it will now start motivating you. Accordingly you are ready to move on to the next level of difficulty. In the next step, start engaging in practices which require that you put or hang the car key on a specific place and accordingly you will choose one or two specific places to keep your cell phone, TV remote as well as the other remotes. You will wash the dishes or organize the kitchen at proper times and from there on, you can start building yourself by completing more and more of such small but very important jobs. Each time you do such an activity, your subconscious mind receives one more positive signal and accordingly, it is willing to put more power behind you when you want to complete your next job and believe me there is no friend more powerful than your subconscious mind, as already mentioned earlier in this book.

As you keep doing these small jobs, and as you keep increasing the level of difficulty at proper intervals of time where the best timing of moving on to the next level of difficulty is when you start feeling that the jobs or tasks of the current level don’t require much conscious effort now, and are being done properly without much of your conscious effort. As you keep doing more and more of these activities, a time comes when you will find that you now have what it takes to give proper finish to big, bigger and even the biggest of the tasks which come your way, whether such jobs are in your professional sphere, personal sphere or in any other sphere of your life. This is when you have got rid of this negative habit.

Laziness is one such negative habit which can take away all the good things from you. It goes against the basic law of success which says that in order to achieve success in life, you need three things: strong desire, effort and luck or positive energy. With laziness, one of these three factors goes away directly whereas the other two are weakened indirectly.

Starting with the direct one which is effort and which is directly affected by laziness since laziness is the direct opposite or the strongest enemy of effort. The lazier you are the less effort you put in and accordingly, the less are the chances that you will achieve success in life as one of the three essential ingredients of success goes missing. Without hard work, it is difficult to achieve anything in life. All your positive energy or good karma can only ensure that if you try a thing, you will succeed, but again, you have to try first. As laziness increases, you tend to try the least or not try at all, and so you lose most chances of achieving good things in your life.

Taking examples from real life once again, it is fairly easy to observe and understand that even though most successful people are blessed with good luck, or have tons of positive energy by virtue of their good karmas, they still have to put in their efforts to achieve success. If Al Pacino stops working in movies or stops doing anything for that matter, his money and fame will only diminish with time since he is not working anymore. Likewise, a champion player can only be at the top and earn tons of money, as long as he is playing or putting in due effort. If he stops playing even when he can, no one is going to pay him money or respect. Hence the value of your effort is of great importance. Without effort, you won’t gain anything in life.

Looking at the other two essentials needed for success, laziness indirectly affects the desire factor also, as with more physical laziness coming to you, it shifts to your mind and mentality also and accordingly, you start acting lazy even in case of putting in strong desire for something. This is because, through conscious acts of physical laziness that you have been practicing, your subconscious mind gets this message that you are incapable of achieving anything significant, as you are not willing to put in the required effort due to your laziness.

Accordingly, your subconscious mind starts preventing you from having strong desires also as it knows that there is no point in raising such desires when you can’t put due effort to fulfill them. The conscious effect of this process is a feeling or inner voice, which says, “Why wish for big things when you know you can’t achieve them”? Hence the virus has come through your conscious activities and it has affected your subconscious mind also and the antivirus in this case can also be executed through conscious mind and conscious efforts.

Moving on, the last important factor required for success is luck, good karma or positive energy in your aura and it is also affected negatively by laziness. A lazy person engages in fewer numbers of karma, whether good or bad as he doesn’t want to do much of anything. Accordingly, the amount of positive energy that he can add to his aura by means of doing good karma decreases. On the other hand, whatever positive energy he already has in his aura is continuously being spent by him to afford a lazy life, because even if he doesn’t do much, he needs basic things like food and other things of daily need to survive. Hence the positivity of his aura starts decreasing and accordingly, his chances of achieving success decrease too.

Remember that if you want to achieve significant things in life, you can’t afford the luxury of laziness and so you should stay miles away from it. If by chance, you already have this negative trait in your personality while reading this book, and you want to get rid of it but don’t know how to do it effectively, here are a few effective techniques you can follow.

Before going to the treatment, let’s get to know where this problem actually lives in your body or personality. Through conscious acts of laziness, repeated over time, your conscious mind has given your subconscious mind strong messages saying that you don’t want to do much physical work. Hence your conscious mind doesn’t want your subconscious mind’s support when it comes to putting in any effort. Your subconscious mind has stored this message and it stops motivating you to do any work and on the contrary, it starts discouraging you when you need to put in effort for something big that you want to achieve. Through your conscious senses and thinking, this message may come to you as intuition, gut feeling or fear which says, “You won’t be able to achieve it even if you try your best. So why try even?”, and accordingly you don’t try. You see, even though you think you are smart enough when it comes to following your intuition by not engaging in this, you have actually been fooled by your subconscious mind because of your laziness.

Hence in order to treat this problem, you need to send repeated messages to your subconscious mind through your conscious mind, by engaging in conscious and specifically targeted activities. Such messages will write a new script on your subconscious mind that you are not lazy anymore and you may need the support of your subconscious mind, any time in near future.

Some of you may think that you should increase your will power and start engaging in things that require a lot of effort and then you will be able to treat this laziness. But in reality, you should not do such big things as you are likely to fail miserably. This is because such big things require so much out of you and whereas at the beginning you have all the enthusiasm to do these things, three strong enemies are working against you: the first two are your body and conscious mind, which are both not accustomed to such big efforts from your side. The third is your subconscious mind which has a strong script that you don’t want to put in physical effort at all and hence it starts sending strange vibes to you.

These are the vibes of discomfort and disliking, and they may come in the form of different types of inner voices. These voices may say things like, “This activity is not going to help you much”, “You are not capable of doing it and your body is refusing to put in the necessary effort since it is not capable of it”, “You should leave this particular activity and try another activity which is more productive” and many other such discouraging messages. The last one of the above is a particularly tricky one which will tell you time and time again that even though you are capable of doing big things, the activity that you are doing is not meant for you, and that you should try another activity. You feel great discomfort and leave the activity in order to try another activity but you get the same voices again. This keeps happening and your subconscious mind makes you run from one activity to the other and each time you hear the same inner voice, saying “this activity is not meant for you”. You see how well your subconscious mind can fool you and how wrong your inner voices can be sometimes.

Many of you may have known people who start some activities with enthusiasm and then start feeling uncomfortable soon. Finally, they leave the activity and you will often hear them saying the same thing: that it didn’t suit them, or didn’t work for them or was not their cup of tea. Now you know the reason for this. Your subconscious mind is the strongest friend you may ever have and at the same time, it is the strongest enemy that you may have. Hence always work towards making your subconscious mind your strongest friend and not your strongest enemy because you won’t be able to win over it, in most cases.

After discussing this wrong approach, let’s now discuss the right approach. We know that people who want to be educated start with the first class when they start. Likewise, on your first day in the gym, you only try light exercises, on your first date with someone you talk formally most of the time, and finally a baby starts sitting first, then tries to stand, then walk and then finally he tries to run which takes him years. So why do you want to start with the maximum when you want to improve a strong negative habit? The message is very clear that you have to start from the bottom and not from the top.

Therefore start treating your laziness with the help of small everyday activities. There are two great advantages in doing this. The first is that to do such small activities, you don’t need much help from your subconscious mind as they are small things and you can do them without much will power or effort. The second is that through these small but conscious activities, your conscious mind starts sending more and more signals to your subconscious mind, saying that you have now started working and may need the support of your subconscious mind. As such messages are sent each time you do something that is the opposite of laziness, even though it may be a very small thing, your subconscious mind starts erasing the previous script of no support required and it starts writing the new script of, “be on standby as your help may be needed anytime”.

As a result, your subconscious mind starts giving you more and more strength. The same inner voices change now and they start motivating you. It may now be something like, “come on you can do it” or, “oh it is easy for you”, or “it is nothing much” and other lines like this. As a result, you start gaining more and more mental strength; and mental strength is what you need the most when you want to achieve big things in your life. Isn’t it funny how our inner voices can be both our friends and our enemies but whether they will be our friends or our enemies, is something we only control.

Another thing that is happening simultaneously is that since you start from scratch, which means you start by doing very small things which require very little effort from your body and mind, and then you build your way to bigger and bigger tasks, it is the easiest way for your body and mind to adjust and adapt. This is because you are giving ample time to both of them as you are only increasing the level of difficulty slowly. Remember all those video games which offer you the first level as the easiest one which makes you think that this game is doable and you can do it and so you start playing it. The next level is comparatively difficult but not much difficult and so you are able to adjust and then the level of difficulty is increased in a slow and steady way so that you are able to adjust to the new level of difficulty comparatively easily.

Have you ever wondered what will happen if a game features the most difficult or the last round first? Most people who try to play this game won’t like it as it is too difficult for them and they will run away under different excuses. The reason is the same in all such cases: it is the fact that when you are not familiar even with the ABC of a language, how can you start with writing essays? Remember how all those game shows featuring on television start with the least amount of difficulty and then as the game moves on, the level of difficulty increases?  Hence, start with something that offers the least physical and mental burdens and then start building up from there on.

Let’s discuss a few of such day to day life activities which are small or very small but which can effectively start treating your laziness. Once again let’s look at the root of the matter and find out what it is that lazy people like doing the most and then start the treatment by undoing those things. As most of you will agree that the favorite thing for most of lazy people is to sit on a chair or sofa, and the best thing for them is lying on the couch or bed, and so let’s start from here. It may be surprising to know that if lazy people can start moving more and more from these two positions, they can get good results in treating laziness and here is how to start doing it.

In the beginning, simply make a plan that whenever you are sitting or lying except when you are sleeping in the night, you will get up every ten minutes or five minutes and you will move a few steps under any pretext. You may do so to get a glass of water, to see if the door is locked, to check if the gas stove is turned off or simply to take a round of your house or the place you are sitting or lying in. Doesn’t it sound like a very small activity to treat laziness? Well it may sound small but it does its job wonderfully. Each time you get up and take a round, this conscious activity sends a message to your subconscious mind that you are not lazy anymore and you can get up, move and do anything, anytime you want and this is when you start erasing the old script on your subconscious mind and start writing a new one.

As you master this act of getting up and moving around every time you are sitting or lying, in a matter of weeks or even in days in some cases, you will start getting feelings or inner voices which will stop you from sitting idle or lying idle. This is due to the reason that your new script has started taking place of the old script and accordingly, your subconscious mind will start sending more and more encouraging inner voices to you and the essence of these voices may be something like, “if you are supposed to get up every 10 minutes or even every 5 minutes then what is the whole point of lying, oh it is so irritating and hence you should not do it and you should start doing something else”. And the time you start sensing that a feeling of dislike for lying or sitting idle is building inside you with each passing day and each passing moment, you should know that your days of lying idle are numbered now and accordingly you are ready for the next level which is to increase difficulty or resistance.

At the next level, choose something which is somewhat more difficult than your first task but which is not very much difficult from your first task and in order to do so, let me suggest you a few things. Start engaging in small household chores and start spending more and more time in them. One very good practice for the second level of this treatment is that you should take the job of going to the nearby market and get the grocery items and other such items of daily need. The catch with this activity is that if you have an option, you should always pick a shop or store which is at a walking distance from your house and then you should split your job in such a way that you are visiting this store, two times, three times and even four times a day.

As you start moving more and more and as you start doing more and more constructive things, your body is accustomed to an increased level of physical performance and accordingly the laziness decreases. At the same time, your subconscious mind is getting more and more messages that you will now need more support as you engage in activities that are tougher than the previous ones. As a result, you won’t only get moral and motivational support from your subconscious mind, but you also start getting some guidance.

Once you master the activities in this level, your subconscious mind starts motivating you for the next level again through the inner voices, which once again, irritate you in a positive way. The essence of such voices may be like, “if you are worthy of putting this much physical effort, why don’t you do something better with your life? Why don’t you start putting in all this effort at places where it matters most, so that you may get better results”? This is where the wheel of making efforts starts setting in motion and you are ready for the next level.

In the third step, start doing more things at work. Start spending more time with your girlfriend or wife and do more to help her out. Start engaging in physical activities like brisk walking, running or any other such activity. Start learning something valuable, and start developing a talent or start polishing a talent if you already have one. Engage in whichever one of the above mentioned spheres is the one that you like the most and the one you want to improve first; and you will see considerable progress and gains in that sphere. Remember, for the same effort you put in, in different spheres of life, your gains will be the maximum in the sphere that you like the most.

The reason for such gains is fairly simple. When you have a strong desire to do something, you are more likely to succeed in it since strong desire is one of the three essential factors required for success. Hence it is always helpful if you can get your efforts supported by a strong desire, because now, you will have two out of three required factors, working in your favor. Accordingly, your chances of success are better. When you reach this level and are ready to work on a practical sphere of your life, don’t just randomly choose any sphere of your life and always start with the sphere, that you love the most.

Even though I have given you some specific activities which are likely to help you the most as well as in the fastest possible manner, you have now got the sense how these activities work and treat your laziness. You know that you have to start from the easiest level of resistance and build up from there. So feel free to choose any type of activity for various levels of difficulty which you may find fit for you; depending on the circumstances you are living in.

It should be noted that when I mentioned that in the second step, you should walk to a nearby store instead of going by a car or other vehicle, the basic reason for it was that not all of us have the same luxury of affording such expenses which the vehicle may require in doing these jobs 3-4 times a day. Accordingly, I suggested an activity that requires no cost so that you may not have to leave it on account of unaffordable costs. However, if affording expenses is not a problem for you at all, you can go to the nearby store by your car also.

Throughout this book, I will try to suggest the activities that need minimum resources so that anyone may do them. The second reason is that using more resources only means that you are using more and more of your hard earned positive energy.  For example, when you walk to the store, you use little or none of your positive energy as you are not using resources; but when you start using the car, it does needs resources and accordingly, you have to spend some of your positive energy now, to pay for these resources.

Bad physical shape means that you are either too thin or are too fat. Though none of these conditions block your success, they can pose difficulties for you while reaching success or they can limit the amount of success you want to achieve. It can be very bad when it comes to finding your life partner as it certainly reduces your chances of finding a partner of your liking since in this day and age, people are very cautious about physical appearance and fitness when looking for a partner. Even though it is not certain that success or a relationship will be denied, being in bad shape can surely reduce your chances.

Apart from this, there are other reasons also for which you should consider being physically fit and let’s now look at those reasons. It is a well established fact that the better is your health, the better are your chances of performing well in various spheres of your life. Moving on to the next reason, when you are too thin or too fat, many people may give you a look of disapproval and though it is not right on their part, but that is how it goes. When you start getting more and more rude looks and mocking words, it hits your confidence and your confidence level start decreasing, particularly in the spheres where fitness matters. Accordingly you may not feel comfortable engaging in activities which require good level of physical fitness or physical shape. On the other hand, if you are in good shape, people around you will give you looks of approval and some will even give you compliments, which increases your confidence and you are in a better position to try certain things which you would not try if you were in bad physical shape.

Have you ever observed that unless some other factors cause problems with someone in specific, the fittest type of males and females feel more confident and comfortable in approaching the members of the opposite sex? Accordingly, they have better chances of being paired with better looking people. When it comes to being paired with good-looking people, though many of us may say that looks don’t matter much, and a person’s nature matters the most, but deep down we all know that in most cases, it is the looks only that matter in the beginning and rest of the things or qualities come to the scene late or very late. So you should consider your physical fitness for this reason also as dating and pairing is also a very important part of your life and if you can get to date people who you really like, simply by being in better physical shape, then you must get into it.

And finally coming to the most used lines about your physical fitness, being physically fit reduces the risk of many diseases, increases your vitality and lowers your cholesterol. Well all these things may sound clichés but they certainly work. So listen to your grandpa’s advice or your doctor’s advice and start maintaining a good physique.

Being physically fit doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to regularly go to a gym, lift heavy weights and start looking like the Hulk; as such routines can be difficult to follow on regular basis, because these routines involve costs and resources like gym fee, fuel expenses, special diets and many other things. Being physically fit simply means two things: the first is that you should be in good physical shape; the second is that you should engage in such activities which demand a good amount of physical strength or stamina like brisk walking or running, three to four times a week. Through these activities, your body will always be ready to perform with extra strength, as through your conscious physical activities, you have been continuously telling your subconscious mind, that you often need this type of strength and stamina to perform. Accordingly, such strength and stamina is reserved for you and sooner than you know, this strength and stamina becomes your best friend, as long as you keep performing your physical activities.

Let me mention this fact here that I am not against going to the gym, lifting weights and building muscle. In fact, I love going to the gym and building muscle. However, this book is not for me and it is for you. So, I won’t tell you to do what works best for me, I will suggest what is likely to work best for you, since I am me, you are you and everyone else is themselves.

Going to the gym, particularly a good gym, needs a fair amount of money, resources, special diets, fixed times and other things and so it may not be advisable for some people. For example, some of you may not be able to afford the luxury of such money, time and resources and hence engaging in such practices may affect your daily routines and your financial equations negatively. Always remember that it is never wise to get rid of a negative thing while getting another negative thing in exchange and that is why I didn’t put a compulsion to go to the gym.

Apart from this problem, going to the gym and building more muscle may have a negative effect on some people who may already be suffering because of high aggression in their nature. Such people should stay away from building more muscle, as it may worsen their problem. Instead, they should find something else that suits them.

Brisk walking and running not only reduce unwanted fat from your body, but also improve your physical strength, stamina and health. A big bonus is that walking and running are probably the most affordable exercises, so you don’t have to pay anything to do them. The whole world is your gym and you can continue to walk and run without any problems or expenses. Apart from this, doing physical exercise in the lap of nature is better than doing it within closed walls, in many cases.

Whether it is a gym, park, road, mountain or the sea shore, it doesn’t matter as long as you exercise regularly to keep yourself in shape and at the same time, in order to maintain and increase a specific amount of strength and stamina which helps you in many spheres of your life. So consider getting in good shape if you are already not in it and then, we are ready to move on to the treatment of the next negative habit.

Before we finish this topic, let me give you a very useful tip, especially if you choose to engage in various physical activities to get in shape and to increase your strength and stamina. This tip comes in handy particularly in case of beginners. When you start engaging in physical exercises, there will always be various physical activities which can give you the same or similar results. Such activities may include walking, brisk walking, jogging, running, cycling, skipping, swimming, aerobics and many other activities.

When you try them one by one, you will find that you are naturally good at some of them, just all right at some, and bad at some of them. Even though you may think that you should improve yourself first in activities in which you don’t do well, as that might give you better results and more strength, in reality this is exactly what you should not do. Instead, you should only follow those activities more and more that you find most comfortable and convenient, with increased levels of resistance. This is because being comfortable while doing some specific physical activities means that you are naturally gifted in them and if you have read the first section, you must know what the exact meaning of naturally gifted is.

We love and respect the Sun for being bright. We love the Moon for being cool and coming at night. We love Al Pacino and Amitabh Bachchan for being good actors. We love David Beckham for playing football well. We love Andre Agassi for being a good tennis player and we don’t want any of them to change what they are doing because this is the best they do and this is what they know, you know and the whole world knows. We don’t want the Sun to be cool like the Moon and we don’t want the Moon to be hot like the Sun as both of them will look miserable doing each other’s job whereas they are the best at doing their own jobs or giving you the best in them and not the worst in them.

So why do you want to do more and more of cycling when you don’t like it at all, you don’t perform well in it and to start with you don’t feel comfortable with it? So don’t do it as you will always be split in two parts, your body doing the exercise and your mind saying don’t do it. Sooner or later, your mind will win and you will quit. Hence don’t do it to start with! On the other hand, you feel comfortable with running and can sense that if you continue this activity, you can easily perform better than many others engaging in it. Hence engage in it more and more, because you will be at your best, you will be able to burn more calories, increase strength and stamina and the last but not the least, you really like running and nothing else can match a feeling of liking or comfort.

Therefore, don’t look pathetic and miserable while cycling where you get below average results and instead do more and more running, where you dominate like a champion. Many of you may not know this simple fact that there is a champion or winner within most of us and the reason that some of us are able to bring out that champion and some of us are not able to do so is the fact that, most of the time we want to engage in the activities which we don’t like and at the same time, we don’t engage more and more in the activities where we are naturally gifted. The champions know what lies best in them and they bring it out, whereas many others don’t know what lies best in them and they keep trying with many other things and in some cases, they try to succeed in the spheres where they are the worst.

Hence stop doing things that you are not comfortable with and start doing things that you are most comfortable with and you will start seeing amazing results. Whether it is physical exercise, a profession, relationships or anything else, there are always choices available and being successful in any of them is almost equally good in most cases. So find the activity that you are most comfortable with and then, engage in it more and more by increasing the level of resistance or difficulty and you will surely start seeing amazing results as well as wonderful levels of physical fitness. Isn’t it strange why a person with the strong potential to be a champion runner forsakes running and starts cycling, where he does badly? Therefore, stop wasting time with activities that produce little results even after your best efforts and start engaging in activities that bring the best out of you, even with little effort. This is what all champions and winners do and this is what you should also start doing if you want to be a champion or winner.

One bad habit you need to control before you learn to control any other bad habit is to stop copying others because the things that work for people you are copying, may not work for you. In fact, doing that may even harm you sometimes. Copying someone without proper knowledge can cause you disasters. By blindly copying others, you only try your luck randomly and if this is what you want to do, purchasing a lottery ticket on daily basis is a better option. Hence don’t copy others without proper knowledge.

It is common among people to copy lifestyles or habits of certain specific people who may be successful or very successful. However in many cases, such people copying others may get into trouble because they are they and you are you. What works for them may or may not work for you and in fact, it may work against you; and cause you trouble. So don’t copy anyone blindly and if you must copy someone, learn why that habit works for them. If you are holding the same ground, it may work for you also.

For example, if you add blue to a colorless solution, the solution will turn blue. However, if you add blue to a yellow solution, it will turn green and similarly you will get a variety of different colors if you keep adding blue to solutions of different colors. Though you add the same color to different solutions, the resultant color is different in all cases, depending on the original color of the solution. Blue here signifies a habit that makes a person successful. Since you want to be blue, you add that color or that habit to yourself also by copying that habit or by starting to add blue color to you, not being aware of the fact that your original color is yellow and accordingly this blue will make you turn green and not blue, and green may be the color you don’t want at all. Green color in this example signifies problems, troubles or any other unwanted results.

Taking another example, let’s say a person who has a very fair skin, decides to tan in the Sun so that he may look somewhat tanned which gives him a better look. Now looking at this very fair person tanning in the Sun, do you think it is wise for a person with dark or very dark skin to start tanning so that he may also get the same good looks? I know many of you are already smiling while considering this whole scene and the reason behind your smile is that you already know that a tan may give a better look to a very fair person but it will work in the opposite direction for the dark or very dark person. Hence he should not tan, if his only motive of having such tan is to look better. So even though the process of tanning is the same, it can improve the looks of a very fair person whereas it can worsen the looks of a dark or very dark person. Hence what works very well for someone, may not work well for you and in fact it may create various types of problems for you. So don’t copy what other people are doing without knowing whether such an activity or habit will suit you or not, according to your personality type.

Even though I can give hundreds of such examples from practical life, I think the examples given above are good enough to make you understand that every individual is different from the other individuals. Accordingly, different things, theories and people work best for different people. It all depends on what suits you. So don’t copy the style, habit or anything else of another person without knowing whether it will suit you or not.

Before finishing this chapter, let’s take another example from real life to make you understand more and more that you should not copy other people without knowledge. A person has a headache and another person tells him that he also had such headaches and that he took a particular medicine and got well. The first person tries this medicine without knowing anything, and his headache becomes worse and he has other problems too. What has happened here and why has the same medicine caused different results? Well the first person was suffering from high blood pressure due to which he had headaches and accordingly he took medicine to reduce his blood pressure which treated his problem of headache whereas the second person was having headache due to low blood pressure and the same medicine worsened his problem as it further lowered his blood pressure. So learn the moral once again; don’t copy others without proper knowledge.
