Anuradha Nakshatra

Anuradha nakshatra is 17th among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of Anuradha fall in Scorpio. The word Anuradha literally translates into ‘another Radha’. Prevalent beliefs of Vedic astrology relate the meaning of this word to success and good luck.

Radha was Lord Krishna’s lover and their relationship had significant amounts of friendship and understanding among other attributes. To be the love of Lord Krishna is considered as great luck and success. The love of Radha for Lord Krishna was intense and soft at the same time. It means her love was not filled with possession and it was liberating type. Hence characteristics like friendship, understanding, intensity, liberty, luck and success are added to Anuradha nakshatra through its name. Due to these characteristics, natives under strong influence of Anuradha nakshatra may be friendly, caring, liberal, intense and understanding.

The main symbol of Anuradha nakshatra is a staff carried by powerful sages according to Vedic mythology. These staffs used to be very powerful. They were used by sages for protection and to punish the ones who deserved punishments. It means staffs were used by them to keep things around them in balance. The sages almost never used their staffs for selfish motives. They used their staffs only when there was need for them to be used, which means they used them wisely.

Hence the symbol of staff associates Anuradha nakshatra with power, protection and wisdom. Accordingly, these characteristics are relayed through Anuradha, combining with the characteristics mentioned earlier. An alternate symbol of Lotus is also assigned to Anuradha nakshatra. Lotus is considered as a very auspicious flower in Vedic mythology. It is considered as the Aasana or seat of goddess Saraswati, the goddess of learning and knowledge.

A lotus is special in the way that it grows in mud and it stays in mud, but it doesn’t get affected by it. This means despite growing in mud; lotus keeps itself clean and pure. A lotus conveys that in the deepest sense, purity is not dependent on circumstances outside, it comes from within. A Lotus also shows that life may take beautiful forms, even by using resources like mud.

It means spiritual advancement or goodness may be achieved, even when all around you is bad. It also means that a wise person can make constructive use of even the negative people or circumstances around him. He may do so by learning how not to be like them and why not to do what they are doing. For these reasons, Lotus is considered as an inspiration for natives who wish to achieve spiritual growth or who wish to make themselves better, even when circumstances may be adverse. Therefore, Anuradha nakshatra is also associated with characteristics like learning, auspiciousness, enlightenment, wisdom and the ability to remain unaffected by circumstances.

Vedic astrology assigns Mitra, one of the twelve Adityas (Solar deities) as the ruling deity of Anuradha nakshatra. Accordingly, many characteristics of Mitra are relayed through Anuradha. The word Mitra translates into Friend. Hence the characteristics like friendliness, cordiality, helpfulness and working in harmony with others to achieve success are associated with Mitra. All these characteristics find expression through Anuradha nakshatra. Mitra promotes friendship on all levels and stages of life. Hence Anuradha may be seen as a nakshatra which promotes friendship and universal brotherhood.

As a result, Anuradha natives may be seen making many friends throughout their lives. Such natives may achieve success with the help of these friends and as results of group work. It should be noted that while making friends, Anuradha may not discriminate based on age, race, colour, gender, financial status and all other such attributes. For this reason, natives under strong influence of Anuradha nakshatra may have large networks of friends, belonging to all walks of life.

Goddess Saraswati is assigned as another ruling deity of Anuradha nakshatra. Hence Anuradha nakshatra associates with all types of learning through goddess Saraswati. Accordingly, Anuradha natives may be skilled in many types of arts like music and singing.

Vedic astrology assigns Saturn as the ruling planet of Anuradha nakshatra. The influence of Saturn blesses Anuradha nakshatra with characteristics like practicality, analytical ability, perseverance and discipline. Due to these characteristics, Anuradha natives generally have sensible and no-nonsense approach towards life. Anuradha natives are generally very good at separating the right path from the wrong one.

This characteristic of Anuradha is in contrast to the characteristic of Vishakha, which may often choose the wrong path over the right one. It means natives under strong influence of Anuradha nakshatra may pay more attention to how a goal should be reached, than reaching the goal itself. For this reason, Anuradha native generally don’t deviate from their standard moral behaviors. Hence it may be difficult to lure them to engage in immoral deeds, by showing them various types of rewards.

All quarters of Anuradha nakshatra fall in Scorpio which is ruled by Mars. Influence of Scorpio and Mars on Anuradha nakshatra blesses it with abundant energy to pursue and achieve its goals. Influence of Scorpio also adds elements of mystery and the occult to Anuradha nakshatra, since Scorpio is considered as a sign of mysteries and the occult in Vedic astrology.

Due to the combined effect of these influences on Anuradha nakshatra, natives under its strong influence are generally very good at making friends and they are capable of achieving success in various fields of their lives by virtue of group work. Anuradha natives may be very good learners. Hence they may learn many different topics and subjects easily, compared to many other nakshatra type natives. When it comes to learn new languages, natives under strong influence of Anuradha nakshatra may outperform most other nakshatra type natives. Anuradha natives may easily be considered among the quickest learners, in studies as well as in other fields.

Anuradha natives may be especially good in subjects like mathematics and science; and they may be quick at making calculations. Accordingly, many of them may succeed in professional fields where quick calculations are required. Hence natives under strong influence of Anuradha nakshatra may achieve success as astrologers, mathematicians, scientists, astronomers, researchers, analysts and many other similar types of professionals.

Anuradha natives may be good in the field of communications. They may have natural ability to make friends easily and relate easily to people who belong to different age groups, races or cultures. Anuradha nakshatra is a promoter of universal brotherhood. Accordingly, Anuradha natives are likely to be connected to people from various religions, countries and beliefs.

Due to influence of Mars and Scorpio on Anuradha, Anuradha natives may be well capable of challenging the outdated traditions of society. Anuradha natives may be capable of setting new traditions and trends for other people to follow. Influences of Saturn and Mitra on Anuradha nakshatra may bless the natives under its strong impact with the ability to connect to people on mass levels and influence them with their logical reasoning.

Influence of Mars on Anuradha nakshatra provides sufficient energy to these natives to bring about required changes. Mars is known as a planet of energy and rebellion. Accordingly, natives under strong influence of Anuradha nakshatra may start revolutions and they may root out old and outdated traditions or systems through such revolutions. It may be easy for Anuradha natives to gain support of people due to influence of Mitra on Anuradha nakshatra. Hence Anuradha natives may prove good leaders who may start revolutions and see them through.

Anuradha natives are also seen to have good interest in fields like astrology, numerology and other paranormal or occult phenomena. Anuradha natives may be keen on learning new things and exploring new worlds. As a result, many of these natives may travel to foreign countries many times in their lives and some of them may settle permanently in foreign countries. Anuradha natives may be blessed with the ability to adjust themselves to completely new surroundings or countries in very short periods of time. Due to this characteristic, they may easily establish themselves in foreign lands and foreign cultures.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Anuradha nakshatra may achieve success as counselors, therapists, psychologists, scientists, researchers, explorers, analysts, environmentalists, astrologers, numerologists, mathematicians, doctors, healers, psychics, tantrics, spiritual gurus, translators, mediators, teachers, preachers, coaches, negotiators, politicians, diplomats, defense professionals and other government officers; singers, musicians, painters, writers, dancers, actors, sportsmen, photographers, professionals dealing in defense related industries, education field, music industry, media industry, social media networks, airline industry, tour and travel industry, shipping industry, hotel industry; and many other types of professionals, depending on their overall horoscopes.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Anuradha is considered as a passive and tender nakshatra. It is considered as a male nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Shudra Varna and fire element to Anuradha nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Anuradha is Deva and the Guna assigned to it is Tamasic. It is a level nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Deer.

Vishakha Nakshatra

Vishakha nakshatra is 16th among 27 nakshatras. The first three quarters of Vishakha fall in Libra whereas the last quarter of this nakshatra falls in Scorpio.

The meanings of the word Vishakha are translated in Vedic astrology as two-branched, divided or having more than one branch. Accordingly, it is believed that natives under strong influence of Vishakha nakshatra may face such situations many times in their lives where they have to choose between two or more paths or options. The success or failure of Vishakha natives may depend on whether they choose right path or wrong.

The characteristic of having to choose among different options is one of most prominent characteristics of Vishakha nakshatra. The main symbol of Vishakha nakshatra is a decorated gateway, as per Vedic astrology. This gateway is like the ones which are used as welcome gates during Indian marriage ceremonies and some other types of ceremonies.

Such gates are mostly associated with outward display of some kind of achievement or objective that someone has reached. After such achievement, the native may want to celebrate and show off. Accordingly, Vishakha nakshatra exhibits characteristics like promoting the outward display of achievements, show off and show biz. Hence Vishakha natives may be natural show offs. These natives may simply love to show their proud possessions and achievements to the world.

A traditional marriage ceremony in India is a show of wealth, status and position of a family. Through this ceremony, a family shows off its achievements and tries to impress society. A decorated gate is an important part of this theme of showing off since people enter the venue through this gate. It means bigger the status of a family is, bigger is the show-off and more decorated is the gateway.

Since marriage is the beginning of a new relationship, Vishakha nakshatra promotes new beginnings of various types. Decorated gateways are also used for other ceremonies like the ones which are arranged when people have achieved success, recognition or some important milestones in their lives. All these ceremonies as well as decorated gates display money, resources, power, possessions and beauty. Hence Vishakha nakshatra exhibits all these characteristics.

Since the urge to achieve and the urge to celebrate and show off after achievements is strong in present times; Vishakha becomes an important nakshatra in these times. Vishakha natives are ambitious and they wish to achieve a lot. Once they have achieved, Vishakha natives may want to show such achievements off to the world, through parties and celebrations.

As Vishakha nakshatra is directly associated with achievements, celebrations and acts of show off, natives under its strong influence may often be found dealing in professions which feature these characteristics. It means Vishakha natives may achieve success in movie industry, television industry, fashion industry and other such professions. A number of celebrities in glamour world are under strong influence of Vishakha nakshatra.

Vedic astrology assigns two ruling deities to Vishakha nakshatra. These two deities are known as god Indra, the ruler of heaven and god Agni, the ruler of Fire. Hence, Vishakha nakshatra exhibits a number of characteristics which are displayed by its ruling deities. Let’s look at some characteristics displayed by Indra and Agni.

According to Vedic mythology, Indra is considered as the ruler of heaven as well as the ruler of all gods including Agni. Vedic mythology portrays Indra as the one who is very much goal oriented. Indra is many times scared of losing his throne to someone else and he often tries to save his throne. In attempts to keep his throne intact, he commits various types of immoral deeds from time to time, according to Vedic mythology.

Indra is a very goal oriented deity and he can go to any lengths to achieve his goals. Indra can also engage in any karma whether good or bad, in order to achieve his goals. This goal oriented characteristic of Indra is relayed through Vishakha nakshatra. Accordingly, natives under strong influence of Vishakha nakshatra may be fixated on their goals. Hence such Vishakha natives may be in danger of engaging in bad karmas or immoral deeds in order to achieve their goals.

Indra is also known for his deep interests in drinking, women and enjoying other pleasures. All these characteristics of Indra are also relayed through Vishakha nakshatra. As a result, Vishakha natives are likely to be fond of materialistic pleasures of all types. These characteristics are promoted by Libra part of Vishakha whereas they may be relatively subdued in Scorpio part of this nakshatra.

Agni rules fire element according to Vedic mythology and he is portrayed as the one with good character. The influence of Agni on Vishakha brings sufficient energy to this nakshatra, which can help natives under its influence achieve their goals.

The influence of Agni on Vishakha brings positive characteristics of Agni and influence of Indra on this nakshatra adds his questionable characteristics to Vishakha. This further means that natives under strong influence of Vishakha nakshatra may witness constant battle inside them, as if two sides of their personalities are fighting with each other.

Whenever an opportunity presents itself, the influence of Indra may encourage converting such opportunity at any cost. On the other hand, the influence of Agni may encourage assessing the cost first and then deciding whether to proceed or not. It means the first side wants to achieve success at any cost whereas the second side likes to quit; if such success is achieved through immoral ways.

Hence the biggest task of a native under strong influence of Vishakha nakshatra may be to decide which side he wants to embrace, along with all its consequences. In a horoscope, placements of various benefic or malefic planets in Vishakha nakshatra may indicate which one of these sides the native is more likely to embrace.

Vedic astrology assigns Jupiter as the ruling planet of Vishakha nakshatra. A number of characteristics of Jupiter find expression through Vishakha nakshatra. It is interesting to note that many of these characteristics may be used negatively due to strong influence of Indra on Vishakha nakshatra. For example, Jupiter’s ability and optimism for achieving goals may be used negatively through Vishakha nakshatra as the goals set by Vishakha may not be in tune with universal wellbeing, in many cases.

The first three quarters of Vishakha nakshatra fall in Libra ruled by Venus and the last quarter falls in Scorpio ruled by Mars. The Libra part of Vishakha comes under the influence of planets with opposite natures just as it comes under the influence of deities with different natures. Jupiter and Venus are different in many of their characteristics and they are opposite in some of their characteristics.

A double set of opposite influences makes Vishakha a hard to balance nakshatra. This is probably the reason why the name of this nakshatra has been chosen Vishakha since it is divided between conflicting ruling deities as well as between conflicting planets. It can be seen that Indra’s love for drinking, women, pomp, power and show is more in tune with Venus than Jupiter. Hence the Indra side of Vishakha is likely to be the dominant side, in Libra part of this nakshatra.

Accordingly, natives under strong influence of Libra part of Vishakha nakshatra may get fixated on their goals. These natives may not care much whether the paths they are choosing to reach these goals are right or wrong. As a result, these natives may have tendency to choose wrong paths at many points in their lives. For such Vishakha natives, only the goals may be important and the means may not be. Vishakha is a nakshatra of desire and the desire element may exhibit fully in Libra part of this nakshatra.

Vishakha natives may be fond of alcohol, sex and other pleasures of senses. They may also be strong followers of pomp and extravagance. To fulfill these desires, they may need a lot of money and resources. Quite often, earning such amounts of money through right paths may be difficult. Hence natives under strong influence of Vishakha nakshatra may end up following wrong paths in their lives.

This is because getting what they want may be of prime importance to them and how they get it may not be much important. Vishakha natives may be easily charmed by materialistic pleasures and they may have strong urges to experience them. Vishakha natives may have strong fires of desires burning inside them. No matter how much they may try to satisfy their desires, they may end up wanting more in most cases.

As a result, strong influence of Vishakha nakshatra can make the natives reach for excesses in the fields like alcohol, sex and other physical pleasures. Vishakha natives may not bother much about moral and ethical codes of society. They may be focused at reaching their goals which may many times not be in tune with moral and ethical codes of society.

Vishakha natives may do well or very well in professions; depending on their overall horoscopes. The sphere of personal life and relationships may not do well in case of these natives. Vishakha natives may be good at getting into relationships. Hence they may make friends, lovers and associates quickly. However, they may not be good at maintaining such relationships. Hence people may come in and go out of their lives; often leaving voids which may be filled by other people; and this trend may continue almost throughout their lives.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Vishakha nakshatra may achieve success as models, actors, singers, musicians, dancers, writers, sportsmen, TV and radio artists, bartenders, pub owners and other professionals dealing in liquor industry; professionals working in sex industry like prostitutes, gigolos, porn artists, porn directors; drug dealers, arms dealers, gangsters, liquor smugglers, professionals dealing in sex rackets, militants, politicians, government officers, defense professionals, astrologers, psychics, healers, consultants, scientists, engineers, professionals dealing in movie industry, fashion industry, television industry, music industry, hotel industry, airline industry, casinos, tour and travel industry, apparel industry, tobacco industry and many other types of professionals, depending on their overall horoscopes.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Vishakha is considered as an active and mixed nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Shudra Varna and fire element to Vishakha nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Vishakha is Rakshasa and the Guna assigned to it is Sattwic. It is a downward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Tiger.

Swati Nakshatra

Swati nakshatra is 15th among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of Swati fall in Libra. The literal meaning of the word Swati is ‘independent’ or ‘self-going’. Vedic astrology translates the meaning of this word as independent, delicate and self-going.

Each of these seemingly different meanings of the word Swati has its influence on this nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns a young plant-shoot being blown by the wind, as the main symbol of Swati nakshatra. The young stage of the plant-shoot represents its delicate stage. Hence delicate becomes a characteristic of Swati nakshatra. The action of strong wind on the young plant-shoot and its effort to survive the wind shows characteristics like strength, flexibility, independence, patience and fighting spirit.

The young plant is trying to survive against the wind and to keep itself rooted. In order to do so, it needs flexibility, strength and patience. Hence Swati nakshatra exhibits characteristics like strength, flexibility, fighting spirit, patience and independence. Survival of a plant through storms or problems means the plant is going to grow to its fullest potential, over a longer period of time. Hence Swati nakshatra exhibits characteristics of growing at slow but steady pace; fighting and surviving the obstacles on the way.

A coral is also taken as a symbol of Swati nakshatra, according to some beliefs of Vedic astrology. Coral is known as a plant which grows by itself with the help of some micro-organisms and it does not need any external factors for its growth and survival. This symbol exhibits characteristics like self-dependence, hard work and patience; and all these characteristics are exhibited by Swati nakshatra.

Hence Swati is considered as a nakshatra which promotes and supports characteristics like self- dependence, delicacy, flexibility, patience and strength. Therefore, natives under strong influence of Swati nakshatra are capable of building themselves from nothing, even when there is no outside support available.

Though there are other nakshatras which show characteristics like independence and fighting spirit like Ashwini, Swati is unique in its own way. Ashwini is independent but it doesn’t care whether or not it survives. It means Ashwini natives may use independence as their goal and they may not bother about what they achieve through such independence.

On the other hand, Swati promotes characteristics like independence, self-dependence, patience, the ability to survive and the ability to achieve. It means natives under strong influence of Swati nakshatra may work for survival and growth; and independence may be among one of the tools they use to achieve their goals. In other words, Ashwini fulfills its wish when it achieves independence whereas Swati fulfills its wish while being independent.

Vedic astrology assigns god Vaayu, the god of wind, as the ruling deity of Swati nakshatra. As already seen in the discussion related to the symbol of Swati nakshatra, Vaayu or wind has a lot to do with this nakshatra. Vaayu is one of the five main gods residing in Swarg Loka (Heaven). He is in charge of air element which is one of the five main elements known as earth, water, fire, air and ether. Since Vaayu is the ruling deity of Swati nakshatra; many characteristics of Vaayu like strength, flexibility, intellect, indecisiveness and adaptability are relayed through this nakshatra.

As a result, natives under strong influence of Swati nakshatra may be strong, flexible and intellectual. At the same time, they may be good at the art of socializing and accommodating; since they may be flexible and adaptive. Air has no shape and it can fit into any space and in any shape. Hence Swati natives may be able to fit into a number of different situations and they may able to handle a number of different types of people.

Goddess Saraswati is considered as the second ruling deity of Swati nakshatra. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, learning, music, voice and speech. All these characteristics of goddess Saraswati are exhibited through Swati nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Rahu as the planetary ruler of Swati nakshatra. Rahu is generally known as a planet of mysteries but it releases its characteristics like diplomacy, social bonding, ability as well as willingness to learn and other likewise characteristics through Swati nakshatra.

Goddess Saraswati is also considered as the ruling deity of Rahu. Therefore, those characteristics of Rahu which are in harmony with the characteristics of goddess Saraswati are more likely to be relayed through Swati, as this nakshatra is under the combined influence of goddess Saraswati and Rahu. Due to these characteristics, natives under strong influence of Swati nakshatra may do well in creative fields as well as in fields which deal with some type of learning or teaching. When supported by overall horoscope, strong influence of Swati nakshatra may produce some of the best singers, dancers and musicians; among other creative artists.

All four quarters of Swati fall in Libra which is an air sign ruled by Venus. Venus is known as a social, diplomatic and indulgent planet. It is important to note that the main ruling deity of Swati is Vaayu who is the ruler of the air element. The planetary ruler of Swati is Rahu which is also considered as an airy planet. All quarters of Swati fall in Libra which again is an air sign.

Hence Swati nakshatra has a strong connection with air element. Accordingly, it is very likely to exhibit characteristics which are airy in nature. For example, natives under strong influence of Swati nakshatra may take long in order to make decisions. This is primarily due to strong airy nature of Swati, as air is associated with indecisiveness and instability.

Swati natives may have tendencies to show off. This is because Rahu and Venus have strong influence over Swati and both these planets are known as indulgent ones. Rahu is especially known for acts of showing off. The combined influence of Venus and Rahu makes Swati an indulgent nakshatra. Accordingly, natives under strong influence of Swati nakshatra may be seen pursuing and indulging in many types of materialistic pursuits.

Whether such material pursuits are within limits or beyond limits depends on which planets occupy Swati nakshatra in a horoscope. Likewise, whether such material pursuits are moral or immoral depends on the benefic or malefic nature of planets placed in Swati nakshatra. When working strongly without any planetary influences which means when rising in the ascendant without any planets placed in it; Swati may make the native somewhat more indulgent but not immoral.

Swati natives may have tendency to wait for long periods of time in order to achieve desired results. When their overall horoscopes are supportive, this characteristic may prove beneficial, helping these natives achieve a lot through patience. However, if their overall horoscopes are not supportive, this characteristic of Swati nakshatra may become a negative one. Such Swati natives may keep waiting for desired results, even when there may be no reasonable possibility of materialization of such results.

Swati natives may be good at social skills. Hence they may be found at social get-togethers and parties; socializing with different types of people. Swati natives may be very much inclined to social networking. In the present times, the concept of social networking websites like Facebook is growing, primarily because of influence of Swati. Both Venus and Rahu love to socialize; where Rahu rules internet and websites. It means Swati natives may benefit from professions related to internet, websites and social networking.

Swati natives are generally patient. They can make investments and wait for long periods of times for those investments to mature and bring fruits. These investments may be financial, emotional, professional or other types of investments, depending on placements of various planets in Swati; and on overall horoscopes of these natives.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Swati nakshatra may achieve success as singers, musicians, actors, writers, poets, dancers, designers, fashion models, architects, politicians, administrative officers, diplomats, revenue officers; professionals dealing in internet industry, website industry, social media industry, telecom industry, event management industry, matrimonial services, match making industry, dating platforms, hotel industry, airline industry, tour and travel industry, liquor industry, tobacco industry, movie industry, television industry, fashion industry; all industries coming under entertainment, luxury and arts; ecommerce industry, logistics industry, international trades; astrologers, consultants, marriage counselors, engineers, doctors, lawyers and many other types of professionals; depending on their overall horoscopes.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Swati is considered as a passive and movable nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Butcher Varna and fire element to Swati nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Swati is Deva and the Guna assigned to it is Rajasic. It is a level nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Buffalo.

Chitra Nakshatra

Chitra nakshatra is fourteenth among 27 nakshatras. The first two quarters of this nakshatra fall in Virgo whereas the last two quarters fall in Libra.

The literal meaning of the word Chitra is ‘beautiful’. Vedic astrology associates this nakshatra with meanings like beautiful, bright, shining and glittering. The above meanings indicate that Chitra nakshatra has a lot to do with beauty in one form or another.

Vedic astrology assigns the symbol of a bright shining gemstone to Chitra nakshatra. This symbol indicates that Chitra nakshatra exhibits beauty and art; especially the beauty or piece of art which has been formed or created under intense conditions. This is because gemstones are created over a long period of time within the crust of earth, facing many biological and chemical factors like heat, pressure and the action of certain microorganisms.

In the same way, Chitra nakshatra may represent the beauty or a piece of art which has been produced by the artist under intense conditions of his mind or intense levels of creativity. Gemstones are used in making artistic and crafty ornaments. Accordingly, Chitra nakshatra exhibits characteristics of dealing with arts and crafts, somewhat like the previous nakshatra, Hasta.

A Pearl is assigned as an alternative symbol to Chitra nakshatra. A Pearl is formed as a defense response of the oyster when some foreign element enters between its outer shell and mantle. Such foreign element irritates its mantle and the oyster releases a valuable substance called Nacre to cover up the foreign element. Nacre gets deposited over the foreign substance and a Pearl is formed in the process. It means Pearl which is considered as a beautiful creation is in reality created by an oyster when it is irritated and under pressure.

Hence Chitra nakshatra exhibits the characteristic of creating beauty under intense circumstances. It means natives under strong influence of Chitra nakshatra may bring their best creations to life; when they may be under the effect of intense types of emotions. Whether such intense emotions cause happiness or sadness, cheerfulness or depression; depends on placements of various planets in Chitra nakshatra as well as on the overall horoscope of the native under consideration.

Vedic astrology considers Tvastar, commonly known as god Vishwakarma in Vedic mythology, as the ruling deity of this nakshatra. Vishwakarma is a celestial architect who is expert in creating beautiful, grand and wonderful structures out of nothing in short periods of time. Vishwakarma is considered to have mastery over the mystery and Maya aspect of nature and he knows all secrets of creation.

These characteristics of Vishwakarma are exhibited by Chitra nakshatra. As a result, natives under strong influence of Chitra nakshatra may be skilled at the art of creating beautiful and grand pieces of creation or structures. Since Chitra nakshatra deals with mysteries of creation; natives under its influence may have very good sense of mysterious elements working behind many types of creations. It means such natives may be very good at grabbing the core elements which form the basis of various types of creations.

Accordingly, it may become difficult for many other nakshatra type natives to match or copy the creations of Chitra natives. In simple terms, natives under strong influence of Chitra nakshatra may hold unique skills and deep sense of creation, in whichever fields they may be working; depending on their horoscopes. Due to these characteristics; Chitra natives may hold special places in their respective creative fields of professions.

Vedic astrology assigns Mars as the ruling planet of Chitra nakshatra. Mars is considered as a planet of energy. Hence the influence of Mars on Chitra nakshatra provides it with the energy required for its creations, as energy is a very important factor while creating something. Therefore, Mars enhances the creative aspect of Chitra nakshatra by providing abundant energy to it.

The first two quarters of Chitra nakshatra fall in Virgo ruled by Mercury and the last two quarters of this nakshatra fall in Libra, ruled by Venus. Accordingly, Mercury and Venus also influence Chitra nakshatra with their respective characteristics. This makes Chitra nakshatra more creative, as Mercury and Venus are associated with creativity on one level or another.

Combined influences of Vishwakarma, Mars, Mercury and Venus make Chitra a creative nakshatra. At the same time; so many different types of influences make Chitra a complicated nakshatra. As a result, Chitra natives may go out of balance at times, often feeling trapped in intense emotions. On the other hand, the combined influence of so many energies can bless Chitra natives with wonderful creative skills and they may create beautiful things with ease.

Hence Chitra natives may at times create beautiful things and they may at times get lost within themselves; often finding it difficult to handle intense emotions. Chitra natives may have special affinity with completion; and anything incomplete may trouble them. In its positive aspect, this characteristic may help them finish beautiful pieces of art in splendid manners. In its negative aspect, this characteristic of Chitra natives can make them feel intense pain or sorrow, when something is incomplete and they are not able to complete it.

Due to influence of Mars on this nakshatra, such incompletion generally comes through their personal spheres, instead of coming through their professions. It means Chitra natives may be capable of completing or finishing their creations in most cases. However when it comes to relationships, they may be left unfinished or incomplete. This tendency may be higher in Virgo part of Chitra nakshatra.

Chitra natives may be creative on one level or another, as creativity is the keyword for Chitra. These natives may have special interests in solving mysteries behind beautiful creations of nature. They are generally good at understanding the complex and mysterious details of things much faster than many other nakshatra type natives.

In today’s world, Chitra natives may be found behind some of the most beautiful architecture, the world of fashion and glamour; and other such fields where creative imagination is the primary element. Chitra natives may have some type of mystery element involved in whatever they do and this element of mystery may be difficult for others to understand. For example, a Chitra native working on one of his creations may look like an utter mysterious character to people around him. This is because whatever he is visibly doing, may not make much sense to such people. Accordingly, they may be very much surprised when such native comes up with a brilliant creation which seems to appear out of almost nothing. Hasta Nakshatra

Hasta nakshatra is thirteenth among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of Hasta fall in Virgo. The literal meaning of the word Hasta is ‘hand’. Accordingly, Vedic astrology associates Hasta nakshatra with many characteristics which are related to hand in one way or another.

According to prevalent beliefs of Vedic astrology, the main symbol of Hasta nakshatra is the palm of hand with all five fingers spread. An open hand is taken as a symbol of fate. This is because the palm of hand represents the lines which are supposed to interpret fate; according to Vedic beliefs and Palmistry. A hand is also taken as a symbol of the karma aspect of life, according to some Vedic beliefs.

It means that influence of this symbol on Hasta makes it a nakshatra which exhibits characteristics like indulging in hard work. Such work may especially include handy work or any work which requires hand-skills. Hasta nakshatra also deals with defining the fate with karmas done through hands. This symbol also indicates the characteristics of having faith in destiny and interest in sciences which are capable of telling the fate or future events.

A clenched fist is also taken as a symbol of Hasta nakshatra. This symbol associates different types of characteristics with Hasta nakshatra. As a closed fist is taken as a symbol of determination, secrecy and sometimes anger also, these characteristics may also find expression through Hasta nakshatra.

Vedic astrology assigns Savitar who is a solar deity, as the ruling deity of Hasta nakshatra. According to Vedic astrology, Savitar is a deity who supports and promotes creation of life and arts on various levels. All such characteristics of Savitar are exhibited through Hasta nakshatra. Savitar is considered as a playful and jovial type of deity. He is also considered as promoter of all types of fun, enjoyment, amusement and sports.

Savitar is considered to have special affection with such acts which are associated with some type of physical activity like physical sports; and some type of mental amusement like joking and playing games. Savitar is also associated with magic tricks, most of which include significant usage of gestures made with hands. Savitar is very good at the art of handicraft and everything else that requires skilled use of hands. Therefore, he is considered as promoter of all types of handicrafts and other such arts.

All these characteristics of Savitar are exhibited through Hasta nakshatra. Therefore, Hasta may be seen as a nakshatra of handymen, handicrafts men, sportsmen, actors, magicians and other such people who use hands, gestures or physical work on one level or another. Savitar is also considered to be an expert at lying, playing tricks and deceiving others. Accordingly, Hasta nakshatra exhibits characteristics like cheating, deceiving others, lying, playing tricks, gambling and other such characteristics.

Whether these characteristics may be used for benefic purposes or for malefic purposes depends on placements of benefic or malefic planets in Hasta nakshatra. Due to association of such characteristics with Hasta, some Vedic astrologers believe that Hasta natives should not be trusted at early stages of relationships as they may trick or cheat easily.

Vedic astrology assigns Moon as the planetary ruler of Hasta nakshatra. Since Moon is considered as a planet of emotions, family values and care; these characteristics of Moon are exhibited through Hasta nakshatra. These characteristics make Hasta worthy of being trusted by people who are family or close relatives to Hasta natives.

All quarters of Hasta nakshatra fall in Virgo ruled by Mercury. Therefore, the influence of Virgo and Mercury is also found on Hasta nakshatra. Combined influence of Virgo and Mercury on Hasta makes this nakshatra exhibit characteristics like hard work, analytical nature, ability to discriminate, sense of humor, trickery, deceit and other likewise characteristics.

Since Hasta deals with a wide variety of characteristics some of which may seem different than or opposite to others, it is a versatile nakshatra. Hence natives under strong influence of Hasta nakshatra may not only be difficult to trust; they may also be difficult to predict. Hasta natives may exhibit so many shades in their personalities and they may be so good at shifting from one shade to another; that it may become difficult to predict or define them as some particular types of natives.

There are a few nakshatras which are capable of exhibiting a wide variety of characteristics, some of which may cross each other; and Hasta is one of them. The beauty of Hasta is that it can embrace the seemingly opposite characteristics with ease; provided this nakshatra is occupied by supportive planets.

Hasta natives are generally family-oriented due to influence of Moon. They may do well in professions which demand skills of hand and other jobs which require use of characteristics of Hasta nakshatra. Hasta natives are good at making families and taking good care of their families. Hasta is a promoter of family values and strong influence of this nakshatra in a horoscope may also support childbirth. Accordingly, a native under strong influence of Hasta nakshatra is not likely to have major issues with continuation of his family, unless there are problems in his overall horoscope. Hasta natives may have good sense of humor. Hence they may be good at cracking jokes and amusing themselves as well as others around them.

Hasta natives generally have sharp brains. Hence they may be fast in calculating situations and responding accordingly. Hasta natives may not easily trust new people and such natives may take long time to trust them. On the other hand, such natives may be good at forming professional and social bonds with other people and working in association with them. However, they are not likely to trust even their closest of associates, even after working with them for a considerable period of time.

Hasta natives have natural tendency to suspect people around them, which is primarily due to various types of insecurities within them. Though they may seem to be mixing well, connecting well and working well with many people around them, it may be difficult for them to form secure bonds or relationships with most of these people.

In the present times; the trend of shaking hands is strong. People may shake hands with complete strangers as well as with their associates and friends whom they may have known for long periods of time. A handshake is a perfect example of energy of Hasta nakshatra in play. It conveys a connection between two people where trust may not be there and these people may be willing to work together without much trust; primarily in order to benefit from each other. Hence Hasta nakshatra is good at forming social bonds as well as alliances; and it may make them look like more than formal bonds.

Hasta natives may be very active and they may keep themselves engaged in one type of physical activity or another. Accordingly, many natives under strong influence of Hasta nakshatra may be found practicing in professional spheres which demand a lot of physical activity.

Hasta natives may also be good at many types of physical sports as well as mental sports and games. These natives are generally very calculated and disciplined in their actions and approach; and they may not like anything being done without paying attention to the details. Hasta natives may keep themselves busy with one thing or another. They may not generally need or want much rest or long periods of inactivity to refresh and recharge their energies.

Due to this characteristic, a number of Hasta natives may become obsessed with their professions and they may suffer from problems like anxiety, restlessness and difficulty in sleeping. Hasta natives are generally interested in faiths like palmistry, astrology and other such faiths which deal with predicting fate. Some of these natives may also engage in professions related to such faiths; when supported by their overall horoscopes.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Hasta nakshatra may achieve success as craftsmen, artists, gamblers, jugglers, stock market professionals, mechanics, magicians, jewellery makers, tailors, gardeners, barbers, hair stylists, jokers and other people playing different tricks in circus; stage artists and especially stand-up comedians, professionals dealing in beauty parlours, shopkeepers dealing in retail shops, professionals dealing in casinos; painters, actors, dancers, singers, writers, musicians, sportsmen, politicians, government officers, sculptors, carpenters, masons, typists, astrologers, palmists, tarot card readers, psychics, surgeons, physiotherapists, professionals working in massage parlours, professionals dealing in various types of businesses and trades; and many other types of professionals.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Hasta is considered as a passive and quick nakshatra. It is considered as a male nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Vaishya Varna and fire element to Hasta nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Hasta is Deva and the Guna assigned to it is Rajasic. It is a level nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Buffalo.

Uttaraphalguni Nakshatra

Uttaraphalguni nakshatra is twelfth among 27 nakshatras. The first quarter of this nakshatra falls in Leo whereas the last three quarters fall in Virgo.

Uttaraphalguni forms a pair with its previous nakshatra Poorvaphalguni. Hence some characteristics of Uttaraphalguni may be similar to the characteristics exhibited by Poorvaphalguni, according to prevalent beliefs of Vedic astrology. The literal meaning of the word Uttaraphalguni according to Vedic astrology is ‘the latter reddish or red one’. As we have already discussed a similar meaning for Poorvaphalguni, it can be said that Uttaraphalguni also possesses some qualities which are similar to its previous nakshatra.

Vedic astrology considers the symbol of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra as two back legs of a Divan or a couch used for daytime relaxation. Accordingly, this nakshatra is also associated with relaxation like Poorvaphalguni. However, the stage of relaxation represented by Uttaraphalguni nakshatra is a later and lighter form of relaxation which is conveyed by using two back legs of a couch as its symbol.

It means the native who was sleeping in Poorvaphalguni has wakened from sleep and he is just lying on the couch for some extended relaxation, in Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. This extended relaxation is not a must needed relaxation like in case of Poorvaphalguni. This second stage of relaxation exhibited by Uttaraphalguni nakshatra represents will of the native for some extended relaxation, more than the actual need for rest and relaxation.

Hence Uttaraphalguni nakshatra may be related to the phase of relaxation when the native has renewed his energy and is much more active on mental level. Accordingly, he may be prepared to engage in some activities like thinking about something or making plans about some coming events, talking to someone or watching something like a movie. It means Uttaraphalguni nakshatra represents the ending phase of relaxation and the native is getting ready for some activity.

Vedic astrology assigns Aryaman who is one of the twelve Adityas (Solar Deities), as the ruling deity of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. Aryaman represents characteristics like kindness, helping others and getting benefitted from others by gaining their favours or help; hospitality, civilized nature and other likewise qualities. Most of these characteristics are relayed through Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. Aryaman is also known as a deity who is very keen on making friends and who assigns great value to his friends and friendships. This characteristic is also exhibited through Uttaraphalguni nakshatra.

Vedic astrology assigns Sun as the ruling planet of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. Hence a number of characteristics of Sun are also added to this nakshatra. The first quarter of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra falls in Leo ruled by Sun whereas the last three quarters of this nakshatra fall in Virgo ruled by Mercury. Therefore, influence of Mercury is also added to Uttaraphalguni nakshatra and many characteristics of Mercury find release through this nakshatra.

The combined influence of Sun and Mercury on Uttaraphalguni nakshatra makes it a special nakshatra. This is because Sun and Mercury are known to work very well in the company of each other. The combination of benefic Sun and Mercury in a horoscope forms an auspicious yoga called Budhaditya Yoga. This yoga may bless the native with characteristics like sharp intellect, intelligence, diplomacy and mathematical skills among other things. Budhaditya Yoga may also render the ability to strike balance between what the soul wants and practical reality.

All such characteristics represented by Budhaditya Yoga are added to Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. This is what makes it a special nakshatra. Uttaraphalguni is the only nakshatra which combines the energies of Sun and Mercury, in the last three quarters of this nakshatra, which fall in Virgo. The combined influence of Sun and Mercury blesses this nakshatra with some of the best characteristics exhibited by this nakshatra.

Since the ruling deity of Uttaraphalguni, Aryaman is also a solar deity; he also possesses many characteristics of Sun. Therefore, the influence of the ruling deity of Uttraphalguni also works in harmony with the influence of Sun and Mercury on this nakshatra. This makes Uttaraphalguni much more balanced in its approach than the previous nakshatra Poorvaphalguni which works under the influence of opposite types of energies which make Poorvaphalguni volatile and unstable at times.

The influence of Sun is very strong on the first quarter of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra, falling in Leo. This is because Sun rules Leo as well as Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. As for the last three quarters, the influence of Sun and Mercury is almost in balance, making it a good zone for a number of activities. Natives under strong influence of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra are generally intelligent, practical; good at socializing with people, making friends and valuing their friendships.

Such natives may be helpful to people around them and they may also gain favours from such people from time to time. Most Uttaraphalguni natives may be independent in nature and they may not like to blindly follow the trends set by others. On the other hand, they may be the ones who may believe in setting their own trends, primarily due to strong influence of Sun on this nakshatra.

Sun is considered as the king among nine planets. Sun is also considered as the most independent planet among navagraha. Since this nakshatra is under strong influence of Sun, it also exhibits this characteristic of independence. This characteristic is much stronger in Leo part of Uttaraphalguni compared to Virgo part of this nakshatra.

It is interesting to note that natives under strong influence of Poorvaphalguni may believe in following trends rather than setting trends, due to strong influence of Venus on Poorvaphalguni. However, natives under strong influence of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra may believe in setting trends rather than following the trends set by others, due to strong influence of Sun on this nakshatra. Hence there is a clear contrast between these two seemingly similar nakshatras when it comes to the expression of the self. This is because these two nakshatras work under the influences of two opposite types of energies.

Characteristics of Sun like aggression, anger, the urge to win and conquer; and other likewise characteristics are exhibited through Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. However, Uttaraphalguni gives softer expressions of solar energy compared to the expressions given by Krittika. This is because god Agni, the ruling deity of Krittika is a fierce deity. Aryaman, the ruling deity of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra is softer in comparison. As a result, Uttaraphalguni natives are likely to use aggression and anger only when it is needed and they are also likely to calm down easily compared to Krittika natives. This tendency may be higher in the Virgo part of this nakshatra, due to added influence of Mercury.

The influence of Mercury brings characteristics like good communication skills, humor, analytical and practical abilities, intellect and other such qualities to Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. Accordingly, natives under strong influence of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra may exhibit these qualities of Mercury and they may achieve success in the fields where these qualities are valued. Uttaraphalguni natives may be courageous like Sun and intellectual/skillful like Mercury. Accordingly they may succeed in many spheres of lives.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Uttaraphalguni nakshatra may achieve success as politicians, diplomats, government officers, judges, teachers, engineers, software developers, doctors, lawyers, IT professionals, actors, singers, musicians, writers, dancers, designers, fashion models, sportsmen, financial experts, bankers, analysts, researchers, astrologers, consultants, teachers, coaches, psychiatrists, orators, professionals dealing in event management industry, matrimonial services, match making services, media industry, ecommerce industry, software industry, IT industry, architecture field, designing field, internet related services, hotel industry, movie industry, music industry, law firms, stock markets; and many other types of professionals, depending on their overall horoscopes.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Uttaraphalguni is considered as a balanced and fixed nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Kshatriya Varna and fire element to Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Uttaraphalguni is Manava and the Guna assigned to it is Rajasic. It is a downward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Cow.

Poorvaphalguni Nakshatra

Poorvaphalguni nakshatra is eleventh among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of this nakshatra fall in Leo.

The literal meaning of the word Poorvaphalguni according to Vedic astrology is ‘the former reddish one’ or ‘the former one with reddish or red colour’. Red colour is associated with desires of many kinds and Indian astrology considers red as an auspicious colour. This is why the bride should wear red dress during the marriage ceremony according to Vedic beliefs. Hence the name of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra suggests its association with characteristics associated with red colour.

The main symbol of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra is taken as the front two legs of a Divan which is a bed or Couch used for seating in a relaxed position. Divans are used to rest and relax, generally during daytime and they are sometimes also used for sleeping purpose during night. Hence the symbol of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra indicates that this nakshatra is associated with relaxation.

It should be noted that according to the prevalent beliefs of Vedic astrology, only the front legs of the couch are taken as the symbol of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. It implies that Poorvaphalguni nakshatra indicates the first stage of relaxation which is generally a deeper stage of relaxation compared to the second stage which is a lighter form of relaxation. The second stage is achieved when one has gone through the first stage of relaxation.

For example, the short sleep taken during daytime generally known as siesta may be considered as the first stage of relaxation. The period during which a person just lies on the couch after waking may be considered as the second stage of relaxation. It can be observed that the first stage of relaxation is much deeper than the second one, as the person is sleeping and completely relaxing during this stage. On the other hand, the second stage of relaxation is lighter one where the person is awake and he is just lying on the couch for some extended relaxation.

Poorvaphalguni nakshatra indicates the first stage of relaxation according to the prevalent beliefs of Vedic astrology. The second stage or the later stage of relaxation is indicated by the next nakshatra Uttaraphalguni. Hence, characteristic of relaxation is exhibited by Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. Accordingly, natives under strong influence of this nakshatra are generally found looking for relaxation in one way or another.

Vedic astrology assigns Bhaga as the ruling deity of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. Bhaga is one of the twelve Adityas (Solar deities) and the meaning of the word Bhaga is taken as Delight according to Vedic astrology. Since the word delight in itself tells much about Bhaga, the characteristics of Bhaga like promotion of enjoyment, relaxation, physical pleasures and marital happiness are relayed through Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. Accordingly, natives under strong influence of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra may be seen blessed with one or more of the above mentioned characteristics of this nakshatra, depending on their overall horoscopes.

Venus is assigned as the planetary ruler of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra according to Vedic astrology. Sun influences this nakshatra through its sign Leo which carries all four quarters of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. Venus adds characteristics like creativity, social skills and luxuries to Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. The influence of Sun through Leo adds characteristics like creativity, relaxation and pleasures to Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. Sun represents kings; and kings are known for engaging in extended activities of relaxation and pleasures, as and when they get such chances.

Sun and Venus are considered to exhibit a number of characteristics which are opposite in nature. Hence Poorvaphalguni is considered as a zone where the energies of two opposite type of planets are fused. As a result, Poorvaphalguni nakshatra exhibits a mixture of characteristics of Sun and Venus. As Sun and Venus are considered to be enemies according to some beliefs of Vedic astrology, the mixing of the energies of these two planets can make Poorvaphalguni a dramatic and volatile nakshatra at times. Since creativity, luxuries and relaxation are common characteristics of Sun and Venus, Poorvaphalguni nakshatra exhibits these characteristics to significant extents.

Looking into some details, Sun is considered as the planet that represents the self or soul of a person, according to Vedic astrology. Hence strong influence of Sun in a horoscope can make the native indulge in search for his own self instead of socializing with the others and pleasing them. On the other hand, Venus is considered as a social and sharing type of planet. Hence strong influence of Venus in a horoscope can make the native indulge in materialistic acts like socializing with other people and trying to make them happy; instead of engaging in the search for the self.

Therefore, the fusion of these two opposite energies can make Poorvaphalguni a volatile and to some extent, unstable and unpredictable nakshatra at times. Accordingly, Poorvaphalguni natives may at times exhibit behaviors which may be quite contrary to their general nature. It should be noted that the influence of Venus on Poorvaphalguni nakshatra is stronger than the influence of Sun. This is due to the fact that Venus is the direct planetary ruler of this nakshatra. Apart from that, a number of characteristics exhibited by Bhaga, the ruling deity of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra are in coherence with characteristics exhibited by Venus; though some characteristics resemble those of Sun also.

As a result, Venusian energy combined with that of Bhaga is stronger than solar energy in Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. Therefore, Poorvaphalguni natives are likely to be inclined towards the aspects of life like relaxation, enjoyment, indulgence in physical pleasures, getting married and enjoying marital life, comforts, luxuries, and other likewise aspects. It means only those characteristics of Sun are exhibited through Poorvaphalguni nakshatra, which are in accordance with those of Bhaga and Venus.

Poorvaphalguni natives are generally relaxed and casual in their approach towards life and they are not in hurry to do things. Many Poorvaphalguni natives may wake up late in the morning and they may start doing their daily activities at relaxed pace. They may be in no hurry to do anything and they may just want to do everything at their own paces.

Poorvaphalguni natives are generally good at social skills. Hence they may do well when it comes to socialize with people and practice social norms. Such natives may not be the ones who challenge the prevalent codes and conducts of a society or organization. On the contrary, they may be willing to fit into such codes and conducts. As a result, a native under strong influence of Poorvaphalguni may become a part of the crowd with ease. Poorvaphalguni natives are generally not the trend setters but trend followers.

Such natives may exhibit these characteristics due to influence of Venus over Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. Venus is a social planet and it is known to follow social norms and trends; rather than setting them. Sun on the other hand is more about individualism and it believes in setting trends, rather than following them. The dominant side of Sun is exhibited through Magha whereas a relatively subdued side of Sun is relayed through Poorvaphalguni nakshatra.

Poorvaphalguni natives are generally well behaved but they may exhibit volatile behavior at times. Natives under strong influence of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra may exhibit such anomalous behavior especially when someone tries to interfere with their states of relaxation or rest. Poorvaphalguni natives may not like people who they see as threats to their relaxation, rest and enjoyment. Hence they may react harshly or sometimes even violently, to prevent such people from disturbing their states of relaxation.

Poorvaphalguni natives may be good at all types of creative arts. They may also perform well in spheres where speed is not the primary requirement as they like to work at relaxed paces. Strong influence of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra can make the natives less disciplined in many senses and they may especially do poorly when it comes to time. Poorvaphalguni natives have marked tendency to appear late at appointments, parties, meetings and all other such venues.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Poorvaphalguni nakshatra may achieve success as actors, singers, musicians, writers, dancers, painters, poets, fashion models, photographers, beauticians, professionals dealing in spa, massage and other such practices used for relaxation; wedding planners, match makers, politicians, government officers, IT professionals, software developers, engineers, architects, interior designers, professionals dealing in relaxation industry, tour and travel industry, hotel industry, airline industry, fashion industry, liquor industry, casinos, movie industry, television industry, radio industry, media industry, matrimonial services, dating services, event management industry and many other types of professionals.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Poorvaphalguni is considered as a balanced and fierce nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Brahman Varna and water element to Poorvaphalguni nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Poorvaphalguni is Manava and the Guna assigned to it is Rajasic. It is an upward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Rat.

Magha Nakshatra

Magha nakshatra is tenth among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of this nakshatra fall in Leo. Ashlesha marks the completion of the first group of nine nakshatras and Magha marks the beginning of the second group of nakshatras among three groups in total.

The meaning of Magha is translated as mighty, magnificent and important. All these meanings indicate some kind of power and authority associated with this nakshatra. Strong influence of Magha nakshatra in a horoscope is believed to bless the native with one type of authority or another. A throne is used as the main symbol for Magha nakshatra. A throne associates characteristics like authority, power and status with Magha nakshatra. It is believed that the authority and power exhibited by Magha may be associated with inheritance in many cases.

It means natives under strong influence of Magha nakshatra may inherit their positions of authority or status from their ancestors. For example, a king who has become king through his own efforts and qualities may not be considered as a king of Magha type according to some beliefs of Vedic astrology. On the other hand, a king who has become a king by virtue of his father being a king; which means he has inherited the throne, is considered as a king of Magha type. We will find more reasons for this belief as we explore this nakshatra. Hence Magha nakshatra exhibits characteristics like authority, power, status, might, and magnificence by virtue of its symbol.

Magha is the first nakshatra where a proper sense of self is developed. Accordingly, Magha natives may start paying much more attention to their individualities, compared to the natives belonging to the previous nakshatras. Vedic astrology considers Pitras or Ancestors as the ruling deities of Magha nakshatra. This gives an indication about the influence of ancestors on this nakshatra. This is the most probable reason for which natives under strong influence of this nakshatra are thought to get their share of authority, power and status from their ancestors.

According to Indian mythology, the ancestors live in Pitra Loka with their astral bodies, between the period after their physical deaths and before their next births in any physical forms. According to Indian mythology, Pitra Loka is considered as a heavenly place which is resided by Pitras in their astral bodies. It is a well-known fact that most of us develop and exhibit characteristics, genetically forwarded to us in the form of genetic codes, by our ancestors.

Therefore, the sense of self, developed in Magha nakshatra is considered to be directly related to the ancestors, as majority of our present form and shape has been forwarded to us by our ancestors. Hence the individuality of a person may include many characteristics which belong to his ancestors. Thus the individualism aspect of Magha nakshatra can also be seen associated with ancestors, as without the contribution of ancestors, we might not have been what we are today.

Vedic astrology assigns Ketu as the planetary ruler of Magha nakshatra and Sun rules Leo which features all four quarters of this nakshatra. Sun is the peak of individualism among all planets. Hence the individualism aspect of Magha nakshatra is supported by Sun and its sign Leo. Vedic astrology associates Sun with authority, power and status. Hence, the royal and materialistic characteristics of Ketu are exhibited through Magha nakshatra, due to influence of Sun and Leo on this nakshatra.

These characteristics are likely to be forwarded by ancestors of the native; due to the impact of Pitras over Magha nakshatra. Therefore, the characteristics of Ketu and Sun like authority, power, status, individuality, deep insight, quick action, intelligence, creativity and other such characteristics are exhibited through Magha nakshatra. It is interesting to note that Sun is the signifier of the self and the ancestors.

Negative planetary influences on Sun in a horoscope lead to the formation of Pitra Dosh in such horoscope. Ketu is also considered as a planet of genetics as it represents older family members like grandfather. Vedic astrology also considers Ketu as a planet related to the past and past lives. As the past again connects with ancestors, it can be concluded that the influences of ancestors, Ketu and Sun work in coherence to exhibit their specific and matching characteristics through Magha nakshatra.

Magha is a fierce and active nakshatra according to Vedic astrology, since Sun and Ketu are both considered as fiery and active planets. As a result, the good or bad results rendered by Magha nakshatra to the native under its strong influence may be quick and fierce. It means that Magha nakshatra may either bring fortunes to the native under its influence or it may bring great troubles and miseries to the same native in a short period of time. Whether the native receives blessings by virtue of his past life karmas or past or Pitras; or he receives troubles, depends on the use of Magha nakshatra by benefic or malefic planets in his horoscope.

Though Magha nakshatra is associated with planets like Sun and Ketu which are considered as the planets favouring individualism, it is still a very much social nakshatra. Magha natives are generally good at making and maintaining social relationships. It is interesting to note that Magha natives may consider themselves superior compared to many people in their social circles. They generally demand respect and authority from people around them, which they may or may not get, depending on their overall horoscopes. The reason for such behavior of Magha natives is associated with the symbol of this nakshatra as well as with the influence of Sun on this nakshatra.

Magha natives may have great respect for traditions due to the influence of Pitras on this nakshatra, as everything passed on to us by our ancestors is a tradition in a way. Magha natives may not like people who disrespect their traditional values and who bring disgrace to the names of their families. Magha natives may at times go out of way to show anger on such people and they may even punish them in some way.

Magha natives may be proud of their family lineages and they may do their best to protect them and bring good name to their families, by following the moral and ethical codes of society. These natives may have strong desires for continuation of their family lines through progenies. The influences of Magha nakshatra and Sun may help them achieve this goal in most cases. Strong influence of Magha nakshatra in a horoscope is considered good for children aspect; especially in case of male natives. Hence, placement of benefic Sun, Mars or Jupiter in Magha nakshatra in a relevant house of horoscope may bless the native (male) with children who may achieve success, name and fame by virtue of qualities possessed by them.

In cases where malefic planets occupy this nakshatra; the natives may bring disgrace to their families, by virtue of their actions. Such natives may have no respect for family traditions and some of them may even hate their families as well as ancestors.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Magha nakshatra may be seen practicing as heads of states, kings, ministers, chief ministers, prime ministers, presidents, politicians, administrators, bureaucrats, judges, aristocrats, diplomats and all other types of professionals who enjoy authority in the house of government in one way or another.

Ashlesha Nakshatra

Ashlesha nakshatra is ninth among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of this nakshatra fall in Cancer. Ashlesha completes the first set of nine nakshatras where each one of these nakshatras is ruled by one planet among navagraha.

Vedic astrology assigns the planetary lordship of three nakshatras to each one of the nine planets. Starting from Ashwini, the first nakshatra and going till Revati, the final nakshatra, lordships of the nine planets over these 27 nakshatras follow a regular pattern. This pattern repeats itself at fixed intervals.

For example, Ketu is the planetary lord of the first nakshatra Ashwini, the tenth nakshatra Magha and the Nineteenth nakshatra Moola. It can be seen that all three nakshatras of Ketu are placed at an interval of 9 nakshatras. Same is the case with nakshatras assigned to the other eight planets. It means Venus is the planetary lord of second, eleventh and twentieth nakshatra and the same holds for all other planets, following in a cyclic pattern.

The meaning of the word Ashlesha as interpreted by Vedic astrology is ‘coiling’ or ‘entwining’ which will become clear by analyzing the symbol of this nakshatra. A coiled snake is taken as a symbol of Ashlesha nakshatra and hence the meaning of the term Ashlesha is found in the symbol of this nakshatra. Snakes are considered as some of the most fearful creatures since ancient times in many civilizations; and many people are scared of snakes.

Due to this symbol, a number of people as well as astrologers are afraid of Ashlesha nakshatra and they paint it in bad colors. These fears are further consolidated by the fact that Vedic astrology assigns Serpent Gods as ruling deities of Ashlesha nakshatra. These serpent gods include Nagas which are considered half serpent and half human type of creatures; according to the beliefs of Vedic mythology. Therefore, Ashlesha nakshatra represents a number of characteristics exhibited by snakes.

Mystery is the first characteristic which is associated with snakes in general. Snakes are considered as mysterious creatures and this is one of the reasons why most people are afraid of them. Snakes are also considered as deceptive, hypnotic and poisonous creatures. Most of these characteristics of snakes are relayed through Ashlesha nakshatra. Snakes can be very passive and patient most of the time but they can show surprising amount of alertness and agility when they need to. Snakes are cold blooded creatures, skilled at the art of manipulation.

Looking at some other characteristics, snakes store a lot of food inside them so that they don’t have to eat many times in order to survive. Snakes have keen sense of their surroundings and they can remain hidden or underground for long periods of time. Snakes are considered to have magical/mystical powers in many cultures and they are also said to protect the ones they care for. All these characteristics of snakes are exhibited by Ashlesha nakshatra and these characteristics make it a special and different type of nakshatra.

Vedic astrology assigns Mercury as the planetary ruler of Ashlesha nakshatra and Mercury adds characteristics like calculative abilities, intellect and analytical abilities to this nakshatra. Since all four quarters of Ashlesha nakshatra fall in Cancer, Moon is also connected to Ashlesha nakshatra. Moon renders its qualities like intuition, protection and care for the loved ones, to Ashlesha nakshatra.

Since Ashlesha nakshatra is a mixture of energies which are not compatible with one another and some of which are troublesome; it becomes a difficult to handle nakshatra. Natives under strong influence of Ashlesha nakshatra are supposed to deal with intellectual characteristics of Mercury, emotional characteristics of Moon and mysterious characteristics of serpents at the same time. Many natives may not be able to handle this nakshatra unless there are strong benefic planets in their horoscopes, which can control and channelize this energy.

Though Ashlesha nakshatra exhibits a number of characteristics, different natives may embrace different characteristics, depending on placements of various planets in this nakshatra as well as on their overall horoscopes. Moon may not do well or very well in Ashlesha nakshatra, unless there are strong benefic planets in horoscope, which can help Moon channelize the energy of this nakshatra.

Vedic astrology associates formation of Gandmool Dosh with placement of Moon in the fourth quarter of Ashlesha nakshatra. This defect can adversely affect the health and wellbeing of native and/or his mother. Since Ashlesha is a difficult nakshatra, a soft planet like Moon may not be comfortable with it in many cases.

Placements of malefic planets in Ashlesha nakshatra can cause various types of problems for the native as well as for society, depending on the overall horoscope of the native under consideration. Ashlesha nakshatra is loaded with potentially harmful characteristics; and malefic planets may make the natives use such characteristics against others or against themselves.

Ashlesha natives may achieve good or very good amount of professional success in their lives; when their overall horoscopes are supportive. Snakes can be passive and patient for long periods of time but they can show surprising amount of activeness and agility when they need to. Likewise, Ashlesha natives may wait patiently for opportunities to appear and when they do, they may act fast and grab them. Ashlesha natives may have tendency to be mysterious like snakes. Hence it may be difficult for people around them to judge as to what may be going on their minds at any given point in time.

Such natives may like to keep secrets and they may not share their inner feelings and many of their personal experiences even with their closest relatives and friends. Ashlesha natives may have strong sense of insecurity of one type or another. Hence they may be afraid of sharing their intimate feelings or experiences with other people, fearing that such secrets may be used against them. At the same time, Ashlesha natives may be good at digging other people’s secrets and they may use such secrets to their advantages, at suitable times. Hence the professional rise of Ashlesha natives may be achieved by hurting many people on the way; even when this nakshatra is occupied by benefic planets.

Due to such characteristics of Ashlesha nakshatra; it can prove very good for natives who don’t bother much about moral or ethical values and who wish to achieve success at any cost. For this reason, Ashlesha natives have good chances of achieving success in politics or in corporate world where most people may pretend to care for moral values but most of them actually may not.

Ashlesha natives may be good at fooling other people and their public images may be quite different from their actual characters. As a result, they may witness very good results through politics since politics is all about image and little attention is paid to real character which may be well hidden behind fake images, by natives under strong influence of Ashlesha nakshatra.

Ashlesha nakshatra can bless natives under its influence with characteristics like good business skills, the ability to sense danger before time and act in advance, analytical abilities and good insights. These abilities may help these natives achieve success in various types of professions as well as in other spheres of life. Specific influence of Ashlesha nakshatra can also bless the native with supernatural and paranormal powers or it can connect the native to such powers from time to time.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Ashlesha nakshatra may achieve success as people dealing in all types of mysterious professions like detectives, mystery novel writers, spies, secret agents and other such professionals; people dealing in fields which include snakes or poisons like snake charmers, drug dealers and other such professions; diplomats, government officers, doctors, manipulators, thieves, smugglers, con men, lawyers, judges, magicians, psychics, tantrics, healers, astrologers, spiritual gurus, politicians, consultants, actors, singers, musicians, writers, dancers, professionals dealing in liquor industry, tobacco industry, chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, entertainment industry, hospitality industry, movie industry and many other types of professionals.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Ashlesha is considered as an active and harsh nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Shudra Varna and water element to Ashlesha nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Ashlesha is Rakshasa and the Guna assigned to it is Sattwic. It is a downward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Cat.

Pushya Nakshatra

Pushya nakshatra is eighth among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of Pushya fall in Cancer. In Vedic astrology, Pushya is considered as one of the most auspicious nakshatras and many new things are initiated when this nakshatra is rising in the sky. The literal meaning of the word Pushya is ‘to nourish’ or ‘one who nourishes’. The meaning of this word alone gives a fair idea about the characteristics exhibited by Pushya nakshatra.

According to some Vedic scriptures, Pushya was known as Tishya by Vedic astrologers of ancient times. The literal meaning of Tishya is auspicious and this meaning again tells us about the goodness associated with this nakshatra. An alternate name Sidhya is also associated with this nakshatra. The word Sidhya is translated as prosperous according to Vedic astrology and this is another one of the benefic characteristics exhibited by Pushya nakshatra.

According to Vedic astrology, the main symbol associated with Pushya nakshatra is the milk yielding udder of a cow. Cow is considered as the holiest among animals according to Vedic beliefs and it holds the title of mother in Hindu religion. Cow is given great respect in India and milk yielded by cow is considered very healthy, nutritious, nurturing and sattawic in Guna; according to ancient Vedic beliefs. Hence it can be said that Pushya is a caring and nurturing nakshatra. Accordingly, natives under strong influence of Pushya nakshatra may be caring and nurturing towards their loved ones and towards the society as a whole; provided the energy of this nakshatra is used by benefic planets in their horoscopes.

Just as a cow provides milk unselfishly for everyone, Pushya nakshatra may also nurture and provide for everyone without any selfish interests. The symbol of a wheel is also associated with Pushya nakshatra. A wheel is taken as the symbol of movement which in turn signifies the passage of time as well as the coming and going of generations after generations. Thus Pushya nakshatra also exhibits characteristics like movement, progress, development, evolution with time, advancement of civilizations and other likewise characteristics.

Vedic astrology assigns Jupiter as the ruling deity of Pushya nakshatra. Jupiter is considered as Dev Guru or Preceptor of gods, who guides them to do the good, the right and the just from time to time. The influence of Jupiter over Pushya nakshatra brings Jupiterian qualities like compassion, caring attitude, optimism, generosity, righteousness, prosperity and auspiciousness.

All quarters of Pushya nakshatra fall in Cancer ruled by Moon. This further enhances the motherly caring and nurturing aspect of Pushya nakshatra, since Moon is considered as a motherly planet and Vedic astrology considers it as the mother of all planets. The influence of Moon over Pushya nakshatra brings some feminine qualities like maternal care, nurturing nature, sensitiveness and emotions to this nakshatra.

Saturn is assigned as the planetary ruler to this nakshatra according to Vedic astrology. Hence Saturn’s characteristics like patience, perseverance, the ability to serve people and the ability to connect to people also find expression through this nakshatra. The combined influence of Jupiter, Saturn and Moon makes Pushya a nurturing, caring, serving and mass oriented nakshatra. Natives under strong influence of Pushya nakshatra generally have good reputations among the people around them by virtue of such good characteristics exhibited by them, provided the rest of their horoscopes are supportive.

Though Pushya exhibits a number of beneficial characteristics, different natives may embrace different characteristics, depending on placements of various planets in this nakshatra, as well as depending on their overall horoscopes. Moon may embrace most characteristics of Pushya nakshatra. Accordingly, natives under strong influence of Moon in Pushya may be prosperous, loving, caring, ethical, benevolent and they may exhibit many other good characteristics; depending on the rest of their horoscopes. Due to such characteristics, these natives may be loved and respected by people around them.

Since Pushya nakshatra is a strong feminine energy, placement of a strong feminine planet like Moon in this nakshatra may be much easier to handle for female natives. Male natives under strong influence of Moon in Pushya nakshatra may not be able to properly handle and channelize this energy, unless there are a couple of strong masculine planets in their horoscopes.

Natives under strong benefic influence of Pushya nakshatra are generally kind, caring; gentle, prosperous and well respected by society. Such natives may have strong family values and they may be caring and protective towards their family members as well as towards their loved ones. Pushya natives may believe in making their contributions to society and they may try to make the world a better place for all to live.

The influence of Saturn makes Pushya nakshatra willing to serve the family and community as and when needed. The influences of Jupiter and Moon make such natives engage in charitable works from time to time. As a result, Pushya natives may be found associated with some welfare organizations which work for the benefit and welfare of weaker sections of society. Pushya natives are generally well capable of achieving their goals as they are hardworking and they may have high levels of perseverance due to the influence of Saturn over this nakshatra.

Pushya natives may keep moving towards their goals throughout their lives and they generally end up in comfortable positions as they are able to achieve many of their planned and set goals. Pushya natives are generally religious and they may also have good spiritual interests. Most natives under strong influence of Pushya nakshatra may not have to strive hard for livelihood and they are generally found in relatively comfortable positions.

It means they may have sufficient wealth and resources to take care of themselves, provide for their families, work for the welfare of society and still save sufficiently to convert into assets. The influences of Jupiter and Moon may keep bringing prosperity and wealth to natives under strong influence of this nakshatra; provided the rest of their horoscopes are supportive.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Pushya nakshatra may achieve success as professionals dealing in dairy products, food products, agriculture, hospitality industry, entertainment industry, religious field, medical field, education, charitable organizations, hotel industry; teachers, preachers, religious gurus, religious heads, spiritual gurus, healers, astrologers, priests, nuns, nurses, doctors, bankers, psychics, politicians, actors, musicians, singers, writers, dancers, painters, poets, government officers and many other types of professionals.

Considering an example, suppose benefic exalted Jupiter forms Hamsa Yoga in the tenth house of a horoscope in Cancer in Pushya nakshatra; and a benefic combination of Sun, Mercury and Venus is placed in the fourth house in Capricorn. Benefic Saturn is placed in the sixth house in Pisces, benefic Moon is placed in the seventh house in Aries and benefic Mars is placed in the fifth house in Aquarius.

In this case, the overall horoscope is strong and positive. Jupiter rules the third house which deals with profession; and it represents the sixth house which deals with dispute management among other things. It is placed in the tenth house which represents profession. Hence the native may become a politician. Such native may win public elections and he may become minister with government, depending on the rest of his horoscope as well as on the running times.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Pushya is considered as a passive and quick nakshatra. It is considered as a male nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Kshatriya Varna and water element to Pushya nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Pushya is Deva and the Guna assigned to it is Tamasic. It is an upward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Goat.
