GandMool Dosh is a defect which is found in almost every 4th to 5th horoscope according to its prevalent definition and is capable of causing serious problems according to some prevalent beliefs in Indian Astrology. So let’s take a look at this defect, know how it is formed, what problems can it pose and what are the remedies for this defect?

According to its definition, if the Moon is placed in any of these 6 Constellations or Nakshatras named Revati, Ashvini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha or Moola in birth horoscope of a person, the person is said to be born under GandMool Dosh. Which means that placement of the Moon in 6 out of 27 Nakshatras confirms the formation of this defect according to its general definition which is certainly not the case in my opinion.

So let’s look further deep into the formation of this defect and see what actually happens when the Moon is placed in these Nakshatras. There are 27 Nakshatras which follow each other in a cyclic order. Every Nakshatra has four Padas or four parts. Every planet is placed in one of these 27 Nakshatras in one of the 4 Padas. Since GandMool Dosh is formed by the placement of the Moon in any of the above mentioned Nakshatras, so let’s consider this explanation with the Moon moving through all 27 Nakshatras. As the Moon leaves a Nakshatra and is about to enter the next Nakshatra, there comes a point where the two Nakshatras coincide which means that the end point of one Nakshatra coincides with the starting point of the next Nakshatra. Such coincidence can be found 27 times as there are 27 Nakshatras. Now let’s move on to the Zodiac Signs or Rashis which are 12 in number and follow one another in a cyclic order just like the Nakshatras. When the Moon leaves one Rashi and enters the next Rashi, there comes a point where the two Rashis coincide as in case of Nakshatras. Such coincidence can be found 12 times in case of Rashis as there are 12 Rashis. Knowing this much, now let’s get to know exactly how is GandMool Dosh formed.

Now we know that each Nakshatra and each Rashi is coinciding with the previous and next Nakshatra and Rashi at some point. But there are only 3 cases when both of these coincidences are happening at the same time. That is, a Nakshatra is coinciding with a Nakshatra and a Rashi is Coinciding with a Rashi at the same time. And if the Moon is placed in any of these Nakshatras at the point of these double coincidences, the Moon is supposed to be negatively affected and accordingly a GandMool Dosh is said to be formed. For example, let’s take the first case of Revati and Ashvini Nakshatra. Revati is the 27th Nakshatra and falls under the Rashi named Pisces and the fourth pada of Revati Marks the end point of this Nakshatra as well as the end point of the Rashi Pisces.

Moving ahead, Ashvini is the 1st Nakshatra and the first pada of Ashvini marks the starting point of this Nakshatra as well as the starting point of the Rashi Aries. So if the Moon is placed in the fourth pada of Revati or the first pada of Ashvini, it comes under the impact of double coincidence of Revati-Ashvini and Pisces-Aries and GandMool Dosh is considered to be formed. Likewise the fourth and the first pada of the 9th Nakshatra Ashlesha and the 10th Nakshatra Megha respectively mark the end point and starting point of the Rashis Cancer and Leo respectively and if the Moon is placed in the fourth pada of Ashlesha or first pada of Magha, GandMool Dosh is considered to be formed. And in the next case if the Moon is placed in the fourth pada of the 18th Nakshatra Jyeshtha or the first pada of the 19th Nakshatra Moola which mark the end point and starting point of Scorpio and Sagittarius respectively, GandMool Dosh is considered to be formed. So in easy language, whenever moon is placed under the double coincidence of Nakshatras and Rashis, GandMool Dosh is said to be formed.

And whereas many Astrologers confirm the formation of this defect just by placement of the Moon in any of the above mentioned Nakshatras, the above mentioned explanation clearly states that the pada of Nakshatra is equally important as the Nakshatra itself. For example, if the Moon is placed in the First pada of Revati Nakshatra, GandMool Dosh is not formed according to me as the Moon would not come under the effect of double coincidence of Revati-Ashvini Nakshatras and Pisces-Aries Rashis.So, in my opinion, this defect named GandMool Dosh is formed only if the Moon is placed in one of the following :

4th pada of Revati Nakshatra.

1st Pada of Ashvini Nakshatra.

4th Pada of Ashlesha Nakshatra.

1st Pada of Magha Nakshatra.

4th Pada of Jyeshtha Nakshatra.

1st Pada of Moola Nakshatra.

This simply means that this defect is not found effective in 3 out of the four cases where it is predicted to be there according to the general definition. And that further implies that this defect is not found in every 4th or 5th horoscope as indicated by the general definition and is only found in about 1 out of 18-20 cases. So be careful with the pada of the Nakshatra when detecting this defect and don’t bother much if the Moon is placed in some other pada of the above mentioned 6 Nakshatras apart from the padas mentioned above.

And now let’s see, what can this defect named GandMool Dosh do if it is really formed in a horoscope? In my opinion, this defect poses different kind of problems for different individuals and to detect the areas of problems, we need to check many things like, in which Nakshatra is the Moon Placed? In which sign and in which house is the Moon Placed and what is the Moon signifying in that particular horoscope? What are the other positive or negative planets which are affecting or being affected by the Moon? And then there are a few more things. So don’t jump to any general conclusions even if this defect is formed and consult a professional Astrologer to know what troubles can this defect bring to you if it is formed in your horoscope and then what would be the quantum and timing of those troubles.

Coming to the last part, let’s now discuss the remedies for rectifying this defect. Well, the best remedy in my opinion is to get a pooja performed to rectify this defect. And the pooja performed in this case is a technical one and not very simple one. This pooja can only be completed on a specific day every month on an average. The pooja is usually started about 7 to 10 days prior to the day of completion and a certain count of a specific Mantra which is different for different people depending upon their horoscope, is chanted everyday during these 7 to 10 days by 5 to 7 Pandits. There are many other formalities considered to be done on the completion day of this pooja which your local Pandits are usually aware of and so I’m not mentioning them here.

According to its definition prevalent in Vedic astrology, if Mars is placed with either one of Rahu or Ketu in a horoscope, or they have a mutual aspect relationship in a horoscope; Angarak Yoga is formed in the horoscope which can trouble the native with very serious types of problems including serious injuries or even an early death.

For example, if Mars is placed in first house of a horoscope along with Rahu or Ketu, Angarak Yoga is said to be formed in the horoscope. Similarly, if Mars is placed in the first house of a horoscope and it is having an aspect relationship with Rahu or Ketu which may be present in 5th or 9th house of the horoscope, Angarak Yoga is said to be formed in the horoscope. In this chapter, we will discuss the formation as well as the results of Angarak Yoga, in a scientific way.

There are twelve houses in a horoscope and there are twelve signs in all. It means that the probability of Mars being placed with Rahu or Ketu in a particular house or in a particular sign is 2 out 12. For example, if Mars is placed in the first house of a horoscope, the placement of Rahu or the placement of Ketu in the first house along with Mars will form Angarak Yoga according to its definition. Since the chances of Rahu being placed in 1 out of 12 houses is 1 in 12 and the same holds for the placement of Ketu; the chances of one of them being placed with Mars are 2 out of twelve. Hence every sixth native is suffering from Angarak Yoga, merely on the basis of placement of Mars with Rahu or Ketu.

Taking it further, as the placement of Rahu or Ketu in fifth or ninth house may also result in the formation of Angarak Yoga in this case, this probability increases further. According to this, the placement of Rahu in first, seventh, fifth, eleventh, ninth or third house of this horoscope will result in the formation of Angarak Yoga. It should be noted that when Rahu is placed in seventh, eleventh or third house; Ketu is placed in first, fifth or ninth house respectively; forming Angarak Yoga in the horoscope. Hence the placement of Rahu in 6 out of 12 houses forms Angarak Yoga in the horoscope. It means every second person on this earth is suffering from Angarak Yoga.

Accordingly, every second person in this world should be facing the problems indicated by this Yog and he should suffer a lot. As this is clearly not happening in reality, there must be something wrong or incomplete with the definition of Angarak Yoga. We will now look into a set of extra conditions which are essential for the formation of Angarak Yoga in a horoscope, apart from this primary condition.

As already mentioned in case of a number of good and bad Yogas, the working nature of all the planets involved in the formation of a good or bad Yog is an essential condition. It means that for a good Yog to be formed due to the combination of more than one planet; all the planets involved in it should be working positively in that horoscope. Similarly, for a bad Yog to form in a horoscope due to the combination of more than one planet; all or at least one of those planets should be working negatively in that horoscope. Hence in case of Angarak Yoga, Rahu or Ketu must be negative in the horoscope, in order for this Yog to form properly in such horoscope.

Considering the possible combinations of Mars with Rahu, there may broadly be four such combinations. A combination of positive Mars and positive Rahu; a combination of positive Mars and negative Rahu; a combination of negative Mars with positive Rahu or a combination of negative Mars and negative Rahu may form in a horoscope, whenever these two planets are joined by placement or aspect.

Now considering the possible combinations of Mars with Ketu, there may broadly be four such combinations. A combination of positive Mars and positive Ketu; a combination of positive Mars and negative Ketu; a combination of negative Mars with positive Ketu or a combination of negative Mars and negative Ketu may form in a horoscope, whenever these two planets are joined by placement or aspect.

Looking at the combinations of Mars and Rahu; only two out of these four combinations may form Angarak Yoga and these two combinations are positive Mars with negative Rahu; and negative Mars with negative Rahu. The remaining two combinations which are positive Mars with positive Rahu and negative Mars with positive Rahu may not result in the formation of Angarak Yoga in the horoscope.

This is due to the fact that for the formation of this Yog in a horoscope, Rahu must be negative. Positive Rahu on the other hand, may bless the native with good or very good qualities and it may add extra value to the qualities rendered by Mars; if Mars is positive. Hence Angarak Yoga may not form in both these cases as Rahu is positive in these cases. Similar explanation can be used for Mars-Ketu combinations and only two out of four possible combinations of these two planets may form Angarak Yoga in the horoscope, where Ketu is working negatively.

Let’s now look at these combinations one by one in case of Mars and Rahu; and see what may happen in all these cases. If positive Mars is placed with negative Rahu in the first house of a horoscope, Angarak Yoga may form in such horoscope as negative Rahu may afflict Mars. Such Angarak Yoga may trouble the native with many types of problems related to many spheres of his life, depending on the sign of placement of this Yog as well as depending on the overall tone of the horoscope.

For example, the formation of Angarak Yoga in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Aries can render some very bad personality traits to the native and he may suffer because of them. If the overall horoscope of this native is negative, he may become a criminal and he may engage in violent types of crimes; killing or seriously injuring many people during his criminal career.

This native may be able to earn money and luxuries through a life of crime for some time, if his overall horoscope is strong and the running times favor him; though he may pay high price for these things in the end. The native under the impact of such Angarak Yoga may suffer from bad reputation, losses, court cases or even imprisonment in some cases. If the overall horoscope is very negative; the malefic impact of such Angarak Yoga may get this native killed in an act of violence such as a police encounter or a gang war; whenever the running times indicate so.

Moving on to the second combination, the combination of malefic Mars with malefic Rahu can also form Angarak Yoga in the horoscope and this type of Angarak Yoga may prove even more destructive for the native. This is because both Mars and Rahu are negative in this case. Hence malefic Rahu may adversely affect the significances of Mars whereas malefic Mars may adversely affect the significances of Rahu. As a result, the native suffering from such Angarak Yoga may suffer from the extreme types of problems, depending on the overall tone of his horoscope.

For instance, the placement of such Angarak Yoga in the tenth house of a horoscope may provoke the native to engage in some of the worst types of immoral or criminal practices. As a result, this native may engage in many types of hardcore crimes; depending on the overall tone of his horoscope. Accordingly this native suffering from such Angarak Yoga may have to spend many years of his life in prison by virtue of being convicted for a serious crime or he may even get killed in police encounter or gang war, depending on his overall horoscope.

Looking at the third possibility, the combination of malefic Mars with benefic Rahu may not lead to the formation of Angarak Yoga in a horoscope; as Rahu is positive in this combination. In this case, malefic Mars may negatively affect the significances of Rahu due to which the native may suffer from problems related to these significances. For example, the formation of this type of bad Yog in a relevant house of a horoscope can make the native suffer from many types of psychological problems and in extreme cases of this type; the native may completely go insane. Such native may have to spend many years of his life in a mental asylum.

The fourth possible combination is the combination of positive Mars with positive Rahu. This is the combination which can never form Angarak Yoga as both these planets are positive. On the contrary, this combination can produce some of the best types of people in their relevant categories, during their times. For example, the formation of this good Yog in the tenth house of a horoscope can bless the native with a post of high authority in the government through politics or through job, depending on the overall tone of his horoscope. Such native may especially become a high authority army officer or police officer, due to the good influence of this Yog.

It can be seen that the results are different in case of these four combinations and hence Angarak Yoga should not be considered formed in a horoscope, merely due to the combination of Rahu with Mars. Similar explanations can be used for the combinations of Mars with Ketu. Hence the working nature of Rahu or Ketu making a combination with Mars must be negative in a horoscope, in order to form Angarak Yoga in that horoscope.

After this, the strength of such Rahu or Ketu and even the strength of Mars are checked in order to determine the quantum of negative results such Angarak Yoga may cause. The level of activity of these planets is also checked and only then the net strength of Angarak Yoga may be assessed in a horoscope. For example, if Angarak Yoga forms in a horoscope due to the combination of benefic Mars with malefic Rahu but the net strength of this Yog comes out under 20% due to weakness of Rahu; it may not do any significant damage. As any good or bad Yog less than 20% in strength is not capable of producing significant results, the presence of such Angarak Yoga may not be a cause of concern for the native and he shouldn’t worry about it.

On the other hand, if the same Angarak Yoga gains strength of 80% or more due to strong and active Rahu in the horoscope; the native may suffer from problems of very high quantum in many spheres of his life. The same holds true in case of Angarak Yoga formed by a combination of Mars and Ketu in a horoscope. Hence the net strength of Angarak Yoga should be checked in a horoscope before reaching any conclusions about this Yog.

Combining all these results, we can now reach the refined and logical definition of Angarak Yoga. If in a horoscope, Mars makes a combination with malefic and active Rahu or Ketu, Angarak Yoga may be formed in the horoscope, which may trouble the native with many types of problems depending on the overall tone of his horoscope.

Once the formation of this defect is confirmed, the next thing to check is the influence of other good or bad planets on Mars as well as on the one among Rahu and Ketu which is involved in the formation of this Yog with Mars. For example, if Angarak Yoga is formed in the first house of a horoscope due to the placement of benefic Mars with malefic Rahu in the sign of Scorpio; the addition of benefic Saturn to this combination may change the results considerably.

This is because Mars is already strong in the sign of Scorpio and the addition of benefic Saturn may add more positive energy to this house. As a result, the net energy of this house may become positive because the strong positive energies of Mars and Saturn may completely dominate the negative energy of Rahu. Hence Angarak Yoga may form in theory only and it may not trouble the native in practice.

On the other hand, if in the same example, malefic Saturn is placed in the first house of this horoscope along with benefic Mars and malefic Rahu; the results may become disastrous. The negative energy of Saturn may join the negative energy of Rahu and Angarak Yoga may gain additional strength. As a result, the native troubled by such Angarak Yoga and Saturn may suffer from problems of high intensity; depending on the overall tone of his horoscope. For instance, such a native may suffer from serious health problems and he may even die at a young age, due to a fatal disease. Hence the influence of other good and bad planets on this Yog should be analyzed carefully.

After doing so, the overall tone of a horoscope should be checked properly as this factor alone can change each and every thing in some cases. For example, if Angarak Yoga is present in a horoscope and at the same time; the overall theme of the horoscope is positive and it has a strong positive Yog like Shasha Yoga or Hamsa Yoga, the native may not suffer much. The overall strong horoscope and a Yog like Shasha Yoga or Hamsa Yoga may give this native sufficient strength to deal with the negative energy generated by Angarak Yoga and he may get through most problems created by this Yog, with minimum damage.

On the other hand, if Angarak Yoga is present in a horoscope; the overall theme of the horoscope is negative and it has another bad Yog like Pitra Dosh or Kaal Sarp Yog; the results may be disastrous. The overall negative horoscope of this native may aggravate these problems and the native may suffer from serious health problems, extreme poverty, prison sentence or even an early death, depending on the overall tone of his horoscope. Hence the overall tone of the horoscope having Angarak Yoga in it should be checked properly; as it can change the results significantly.

Coming to the last but not the least, the impact of running times should also be checked in order to further fine tune the effects given by Angarak Yoga in a horoscope. It should be noted that any type of good or bad Yog becomes duly effective, if one of the planets involved in its formation is leading the running times. As a result, the native may witness the strongest negative impacts of Angarak Yoga if he is hit by the planetary periods of Mars, Rahu or Ketu during relevant years of his age. This very simple looking fact may not change the type of problems you may face due to the influence of Angarak Yoga in many cases; however it may change the quantum of such problems to a great extent.

For example, if Angarak Yoga is formed in the first house of a horoscope and the overall theme of the horoscope is negative, the native may become a criminal. Though the native may achieve success for some time if his overall horoscope is strong, such success may be short lasted and he may face serious problems in the end. If a negative planetary period hits this native and such period is not ruled by Mars, Rahu or Ketu; the native may suffer from problems of medium intensity.

However, as soon as the planetary period of Mars, Rahu or Ketu hits this native; whichever one of them is the most troublesome in his horoscope; he may face problems of very serious types. Such planetary period may trouble him with serious health problems, financial losses, prison sentences, a death penalty or it can even get him killed in a police encounter or gang war; depending on the overall tone of his horoscope.

Therefore, each and every important aspect should be checked thoroughly and only then the results indicated by Angarak Yoga should be calculated. Above all, it should always be kept in mind that the combination of Mars with Rahu or Ketu may be positive and it may produce some of the most wonderful people in this world; while you may be seeing them as very bad people due to the formation of Angarak Yoga in their horoscopes. Hence don’t fall for the combination of Mars with Rahu or Ketu and get to the bottom of the working nature of such combination, in order to properly assess whether such combination is destructive or constructive.

Grahan yog is considered among some of the very bad yogas which are formed in a horoscope according to Vedic astrology and many astrologers believe that the formation of Grahan Yog in a horoscope can trouble the native under the strong influence of this yog with various kinds of problems related to various spheres of such native’s life. According to its definition prevalent in Vedic astrology, if any one of the luminaries which means Sun or Moon is placed with either Rahu or Ketu in a horoscope, Grahan Yog is formed in the horoscope which can bring serious problems for the native on various fronts of his life.

Some astrologers believe that if any one of Sun or Moon is afflicted by Rahu or Ketu in a horoscope by means of an aspect from such Rahu or Ketu, Grahan Yog is formed in the horoscope, in this case also. Combining these definitions, it can be said that if Sun or Moon is either placed with any one of Rahu and Ketu or if Sun or Moon receives an aspect from Rahu or Ketu, Grahan Yog is formed in the horoscope. The literal meaning of grahan is to eat up completely and it is believed that Rahu or Ketu eats up Sun or Moon completely if this yog is formed in a horoscope which means that Rahu or Ketu destroys the significances of Sun or Moon in a horoscope if Grahan Yog is formed in the horoscope.

Let’s now try and analyze this definition with the help of scientific analysis and statistics. We know that there are only 12 houses in a horoscope and accordingly all the planets among navagraha are placed in one or the other house among these 12 houses of the horoscope. Rahu and Ketu always move in retrograde motion according to Vedic astrology and their duration of stay in one zodiac sign is about 18 months. Sun completes its transit in one sign, in about a month and Moon completes its transit in one sign in about 2 and a half days. Let’s assume that Rahu is placed in the sign of Scorpio and Ketu is placed in the sign of Taurus and as we already know, both these planets are supposed to spend 18 months in these signs, hence their placements can be taken as long duration placements compared to the transits of the Sun and Moon.

Now during these 18 months, whenever the Sun transits through Scorpio or Taurus, Grahan Yog is formed in the horoscope as Sun will be placed with Rahu or Ketu in the horoscope. This means that every 6th person will have Grahan Yog in his horoscope as there are only 12 houses in a horoscope and the chances of Sun being present in 2 specific houses out of these 12 houses are one in every sixth horoscope. Looking at the statistics provided by the extended definition of Grahan Yog which says that even an aspect from Rahu or Ketu on Sun can form Grahan Yog in the horoscope, at least 50% of the horoscopes will be having Grahan Yog either due to placement relation or due to aspect relation of Sun with Rahu or Ketu.

Similarly, the same percentage of horoscopes will be having Grahan Yog due to the relation of Moon with Rahu or Ketu on the basis of placement or aspect. Combining these factors, about 70-75% of the horoscopes are having a Grahan Yog which means that almost every person in this world is having Grahan Yog in his horoscope, and accordingly, almost everyone should suffer from the bad effects of Grahan Yog.

These figures are too high to be practical and hence they are not true because something which is happening to every person in this world is routine and not a yog, as a yog on the contrary is something that is happening only to a few people. Hence, Grahan Yog is not formed only according to the conditions mentioned in the prevalent definition of this yog and more conditions should be met in a horoscope to confirm the formation of Grahan Yog in that horoscope.

The nature of the planets involved in such combination is the most important aspect that should be checked in order to determine the formation of Grahan Yog in a horoscope. For example, in case of a Sun-Rahu combination in a horoscope, there are four possible combinations that can be formed which are, benefic Sun with benefic Rahu, malefic Sun with benefic Rahu, benefic Sun with malefic Rahu and malefic Sun with malefic Rahu. Out of these four combinations, only the last two combinations can form Grahan Yog in the horoscope as the combinations of Sun with a benefic Rahu will not form Grahan Yog because benefic planets do not form negative yogas in horoscopes.

Further, for the last two combinations, the strength of Sun and Rahu is checked in a horoscope, the overall strength of so formed Grahan Yog is checked, the influence of other good and bad planets on Sun and Rahu is checked, the presence of other good or bad yogas in the horoscope is checked and many other aspects are checked in a horoscope before predicting the formation, strength, field of impact and time of impact of Grahan Yog in the horoscope which is formed due to the combination of Sun and Rahu. These calculations are done in a similar way in case of Sun-Ketu combination, Moon-Rahu combination and Moon-Ketu combination and then a final decision is reached regarding the formation of Grahan Yog in a horoscope.

I have seen that in many cases of apparent Grahan Yog, this yog is either not formed at all in the horoscope or it is not strong enough to cause significant damage, as the formation of a defect in a horoscope can’t do significant damage if such a dosh or yog is weak or very weak. Hence all the possible and important aspects should be checked properly from a horoscope, before jumping to any conclusions about the presence of Grahan Yog in the horoscope.

It should also be noted here that the some combinations of Sun or Moon with Rahu or Ketu can form very beneficial yogas or benefic influences in the horoscope and accordingly the natives under the strong influence of these combinations are likely to benefit from them instead of suffering from them. For example, the combination of a benefic Sun and a benefic Ketu in a horoscope can give very good results to the native regarding power, authority, deep insight, intelligence, management skills, inheritance, continuation of family through healthy and capable male children and many other things and accordingly, the natives under the strong influence of a benefic Sun-Ketu conjunction or combination in their horoscopes, can come across some of the above mentioned benefic results depending on their overall horoscopes.

Similarly, the presence of a benefic Moon with benefic Rahu in a horoscope can form a benefic yog called Shakti yog in the horoscope, which can bless the native with very good progress in the fields of spiritualism and paranormal, very good positions of power with government or some private organizations, easy access to comforts and luxuries and many other good things depending on the horoscope of the native. Accordingly the natives having a benefic Moon-Rahu conjunction or Shakti Yog in their horoscopes can witness the results which are quite opposite to the results indicated by Grahan Yog.

The reason for such good results in many such combinations of Sun or Moon with Rahu or Ketu is that these combinations are formed by benefic Sun or Moon with benefic Rahu or Ketu and the combination or conjunction of two benefic planets always gives good and good results only and such combination is not likely to form malefic yogas like Grahan Yog in the horoscope.

Vedic astrology is full of good and bad yogas and many of these yogas or doshas have been widely misunderstood from time to time. Guru Chandal yog is one of these yogas which are associated with bad and bad things only by most astrologers as these astrologers believe that the presence of a Guru Chandal yog or dosha in a horoscope can only give bad streaks to the character of the native under the influence of this Yog.

At the same time, some learned Vedic astrologers are of the view that a so called Guru Chandal yog can also give very good results and it can produce very good philosophers, spiritual persons, people working for charitable causes or noble causes and other such kinds of people which can become the pillars of society and who can give a new direction to the society. Hence the formation of Guru Chandal Yog should be studied properly in a horoscope before reaching any conclusions about this yog.

According to its definition prevalent in Vedic astrology, if Jupiter is placed with either one of Rahu or Ketu in a horoscope, or if Jupiter is having a mutual aspect relation with either one of Rahu or Ketu in a horoscope, Guru Chandal Yog is formed in the horoscope which can make the native indulge in immoral, unethical and illegal activities and the character and personality of such a native is corrupted. Guru is the name given to Jupiter in Vedic astrology and Rahu and Ketu have been called Chandal (a very evil person) here and hence a combination of Jupiter with any one of Rahu or Ketu either by means of placement of by means of aspect, leads to the formation of a Guru Chandal Yog in the horoscope.

For example, if Jupiter is placed in first house of a horoscope along with Rahu or Ketu, or if Jupiter is placed in first house of a horoscope and it is having an aspect relation with Rahu or Ketu which may be present in 5th or 9th house of the horoscope, Guru Chandal Yog is said to be formed in the horoscope. Many Vedic astrologers believe that the presence of Rahu with Jupiter makes a person very materialistic and such a person can go to any limits and measures in order to fulfill his materialistic desires and he can adopt underhand or illegal methods in order to fulfill his desires. It is also believed by many vedic astrologers that the relation of Ketu with Jupiter in a horoscope, either by means of placement or by means of aspect can distort the personality of the native and this combination can produce some of the most cruel, religiously narrow minded and hypocrite kind of people which can cause serious problems for the society they are living in.

And though there are many other bad things which are associated with Guru Chandal Yog, it should be note that Guru Chandal Yog is not always bad in every horoscope and the presence of this yog in some horoscopes can bless the natives with top class humanitarian qualities and as a result, it can make such natives much respected by the societies they are living in. The combination of Jupiter and Rahu in a horoscope can certainly enhance the materialistic desires and ambitions of the native to great extents but it should be noted that the nature and working of both Rahu and Jupiter needs to be carefully studied in a horoscope before predicting the results of Guru Chandal Yog in that horoscope, formed due to combination of Jupiter and Rahu.

There is no doubt that a combination of a malefic or very malefic Rahu along with a benefic Jupiter can seriously disturb the general as well as specific significances of Jupiter in a horoscope and as a result such the native can have various kinds of distortions in his personality depending on the significances of Jupiter in the horoscope. For example, if Jupiter signifies the profession of the native in a horoscope and a Guru Chandal Yog is formed in the horoscope due to combination of Jupiter and Rahu, such a native is likely to engage in illegal or immoral professions as the influence of malefic Rahu on Jupiter will corrupt Jupiter, which will reflect through the significances of Jupiter in the horoscope. Since Jupiter signifies profession in this horoscope, the corruption will be seen in his professional sphere and hence he can engage in immoral or illegal professions.

The worst kind of Guru Chandal Yog can be formed in a horoscope when both Jupiter and Rahu are working malefic in the horoscope and Guru Chandal Yog is formed due to combination of Jupiter and Rahu in the horoscope. The results can be very destructive in this case depending on the significance of Jupiter, the house of placement of this yog, the sign of placement of this yog and some other aspects of the horoscope. For example, if Jupiter signifies the house of ancestors in a horoscope and a Guru Chandal Yog is formed in the horoscope by virtue of placement of malefic Jupiter and malefic Rahu in 10th house of a horoscope, such a native is likely to bring serious disgrace to the name of his family and ancestors by virtue of very bad karmas done by him.

Another possible combination of Jupiter and Rahu in a horoscope is the combination of a benefic Jupiter with a benefic Rahu which is again said to form Guru Chandal Yog in the horoscope, according to the definition of this yog, but which in reality gives results which are quite opposite to the results associated with Guru Chandal Yog. For example, if both Jupiter and Rahu are working benefic in a horoscope and a Guru Chandal Yog is being formed in the horoscope due to a combination of Jupiter and Rahu in 5th house of the horoscope, such a combination can produce great philosophers, great social workers, great spiritual people, great saints and many other such kind of people who set examples for the society, who work for the betterment of society and who are respected and followed by a large number of people.

The final combination of Jupiter and Rahu includes the placement of a malefic Jupiter with a benefic Rahu which is also said to form Guru Chandal Yog in the horoscope, according to the prevalent definition of this yog or dosha, but the actual results can be very much different in this case. This is because the significances of Rahu will suffer in this case due to an affliction from a malefic Jupiter which defies the very name of Guru Chandal Yog as Rahu is not working as a chandal in this case and Jupiter is not working as a guru in this case.

Hence this fact is of great importance as to which one of Jupiter and Rahu is working benefic and which one is working malefic in the horoscope. Apart from this, a thorough study of the horoscope, the significances of Jupiter and Rahu, the placement of this combination in a specific sign and house of the horoscope and other important aspects of the horoscope should also be studied carefully before predicting the results of Guru Chandal Yog.

Similarly in case of a Guru Chandal Yog formed by Ketu, there are four possible combinations of Jupiter and Ketu, just like the combinations formed by Jupiter and Rahu, and the results of Guru Chandal Yog can be altogether different in different cases depending on the benefic or malefic nature of Jupiter and Ketu in the horoscope, placement of Jupiter and Ketu in the horoscope and overall tone of the horoscope. A combination of malefic Jupiter and malefic Ketu can produce some of the most hated personalities of their times as the natives under the strong influence of such Guru Chandal Yog can trouble, harass, harm or even kill many people in the name of race, religion, caste and other such things.

On the other hand, a combination of benefic Jupiter and benefic Ketu can produce spiritual gems of their time and the natives under the strong influence of this kind of Guru Chandal Yog are likely to be spiritually advanced and enlightened, and such natives work for the well being of entire universe. Therefore Guru Chandal Yog is not all about bad results and bad things and on the contrary, it can produce very good results if both the planets involved in the formation of Guru Chandal Yog are working as benefic planets in the horoscope.

Chandra Mangal Yoga is another good Yog which can form in a horoscope according to Vedic astrology and which can give many types of good results to the native under its influence, depending on his overall horoscope. According to its definition prevalent in Vedic astrology, if Chandra or Moon is present along with Mangal or Mars in a horoscope, Chandra Mangal Yoga is formed in the horoscope, which means that if both Moon and Mars are placed in the same house of a horoscope, Chandra Mangal Yoga is formed in the horoscope.

Some astrologers believe that the aspect relation of Moon and Mars in a horoscope can also form this Yoga in the horoscope. It means that if both Moon and Mars are casting an aspect on each other in a horoscope, Chandra Mangal Yoga is formed in the horoscope. The formation of Chandra Mangal Yog in a horoscope is said to bless the native with many types of good results like success, name, fame and authority. Looking at the positive results associated with this Yog; let’s first analyze the definition of this Yog in a scientific way.

We know that there are only twelve signs and twelve houses in a horoscope. Hence the possibility of Moon being placed with Mars in the same house as well as in the same sign in a horoscope is one out of twelve. For example, if Moon is placed in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Aries, Mars can be placed in any one of the twelve signs and the possibility of Mars being placed in the sign of Aries or in the first house is one out of twelve. Hence Chandra Mangal Yoga forms in the horoscope of every twelfth native in this world, according to its prevalent definition.

It means that randomly, every twelfth person is having Chandra Mangal Yoga in his horoscope and accordingly every twelfth person on this earth should witness the good results indicated by this Yog.  Analyzing this definition further, we know that Moon transits a sign for two and a half days approximately and Mars stays in a sign for about a month and a half on average. Since the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga is decided by the placement of Moon with Mars, Chandra Mangal Yoga once formed should remain active for about two and a half days as none of the two planets may change their positions during this period of time.

It means that all the people born across the world during such two and a half days will have Chandra Mangal Yoga in their horoscopes. To simplify this fact, let us assume that Mars is present in Aries at a time. As we know that Mars stays in a sign for about a month and half, so when Moon enters the sign of Aries, Chandra Mangal Yoga will be formed in the horoscope. Since Moon stays in a sign for two and a half days and Mars doesn’t change its sign this fast, it means that such Chandra Mangal Yoga will be active continuously for two and a half days.

The fact that Chandra Mangal Yoga is found in almost every twelfth horoscope and the fact that this Yoga remains active for about two and a half days are very hard to justify practically. This is because the good results associated with Chandra Mangal Yoga are rare and they are not found in case of every twelfth native. It should also be noted that any one of the good or bad Yogas in Vedic astrology doesn’t remain active continuously even for an hour, let alone a period of two and a half days.

This means that there are more conditions for the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga in a horoscope than the one mentioned in prevalent definition of this Yoga. We shall now look into these conditions and we will find out relevant and practical facts related to the formation as well as results of Chandra Mangal Yoga.

Apart from being placed in the same house, both Mars and Moon should be working positively in a horoscope, for the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga. The primary condition for the formation of any benefic Yog in a horoscope is that all the planets involved in the formation of such Yog should be working positively in that horoscope. Therefore, in order for Chandra Mangal Yoga to be formed in a horoscope, both Mars and Moon should be benefic in that horoscope. Mars and Moon can broadly make four combinations in a horoscope, in the cases which qualify for consideration of Chandra Mangal Yoga. Out of these four combinations, the combination of positive Mars with positive Moon may result in the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga.

On the other hand, the remaining three combinations like the combination of benefic Mars with malefic Moon, the combination of malefic Mars with benefic Moon and the combination of malefic Mars with malefic Moon may not lead to the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga in the horoscope. This is because in all these three combinations, either one or both the planets are malefic. Hence these combinations may not result in the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga and instead they may form a negative Yog in which the negative planet may hit the general as well as the specific significances of the positive planet.

For example, the significances of Mars may suffer when this combination is present in a horoscope and Mars is benefic whereas Moon is malefic. As a result, the native may have to face many problems in many spheres of his life, related to the general as well as specific significances of Mars. For example, the native may face problems related to overall physical strength, health, courage and initiative; as these are the general significances of Mars. If Mars represents the first house in such horoscope, the native may face problems related to his overall lifespan, as the overall lifespan of this native becomes a specific significance of Mars in this case. It should be noted that the overall lifespan of a native is significantly dependant on the first house, though it is not entirely dependent on this house and there are other factors also.

Similarly, the general as well as specific significances of Moon may suffer when malefic Mars is present in the same house with benefic Moon. As a result, the native may face problems related to peace of mind, emotional disturbances, problems related to mother and other types of problems which relate to the general significances of Moon. Looking at specific types of problems, if Moon represents the fifth house in a horoscope, the native may face many types of problems related to child birth and the overall well being of his children as the affairs of the fifth house now become the specific significances of Moon for this native.

The worst type of combination is found in cases where both Mars and Moon are malefic in the horoscope as the significances of both Mars and Moon may suffer in this case, which can cause serious problems for the native and no Chandra Mangal Yoga may be formed in the horoscope. In this case, malefic Mars may hit the significances of malefic Moon and malefic Moon may hit the significances of malefic Mars in a negative way. Hence this combination can prove very bad for the native and he may have to suffer a lot in many spheres of his life.

It should be noted that in all these combinations, whether Mars or Moon may dominate the other depends on the strength of these planets as well as on the overall tone of the horoscopes in question. For example, if malefic Mars is placed with malefic Moon in the sign of Capricorn or Scorpio, the significances of malefic Moon may be hit much more than the significances of malefic Mars.

This is because Mars is more powerful in the signs of Capricorn and Scorpio; and hence it may dominate the results of this combination, whether such results are positive or negative. If Mars placed in Capricorn or Scorpio is positive and Moon placed along with Mars in one of these signs is negative, the resultant may not be much destructive, though it may still be negative. This is due to the reason that positive Mars is stronger than negative Moon in this case. Hence it may be able to reduce the damage caused by negative Moon.

On the other hand, if a combination of malefic Mars and malefic Moon is placed in the sign of Taurus or Cancer, the significances of Mars may be affected much more than the significances of Moon. This is because Moon is stronger in these signs, compared to Mars. Hence Moon may dominate this combination, which means it may be able to reduce the damage caused by Mars and it may also be able to cause more damage to Mars. Similarly, if malefic Mars is placed with benefic Moon in the sign of Taurus or Cancer, the resultant though negative; may not cause problems of high degree. This is due to the reason that positive Moon is stronger than malefic Mars and hence it may reduce the damage caused by Mars.

Coming back to the definition, both Mars and Moon should be positive in a horoscope, in order for Chandra Mangal Yoga to form in the horoscope. Once we are sure about the positive working of Mars and Moon in one such horoscope, the next thing to check is their strength and level of activity. If positive Mars and positive Moon are both strong in a horoscope, they may result in the formation of strong Chandra Mangal Yoga. Similarly, if they are both active in the horoscope, the results given by Chandra Mangal Yoga may be even better.

For example, the benefic results of Chandra Mangal Yoga may decrease considerably if this Yog is present in the sign of Virgo or Aquarius; as Mars and Moon are not strong in these signs. As a result, Mars and Moon may not contribute much towards Chandra Mangal Yoga; even when both these planets are benefic in the horoscope. On the other hand, if this Yoga is formed in the signs like Taurus or Capricorn; the results may be very good. Such Chandra Mangal Yoga may bless the native with many types of good results, depending on the overall tone of his horoscope.

It should be noted that the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga in the sign of Cancer or Scorpio is a special case and it needs special attention. This is because Mars is debilitated in Cancer and Moon is strong in this sign, being the planetary lord of this sign. Similarly, Moon is debilitated in Scorpio and Mars is strong in this sign, being the planetary lord of this sign. Hence the placement of benefic Mars and benefic Moon in any one of these signs is a special case and it needs special attention.

This is because, with one of these planets being debilitated in each one of these signs and the other planet being the lord of that sign; Neechbhang RajYoga may form in the horoscope as the planet ruling the sign of placement of this combination may cancel the debilitation status of the other planet. For example, if this combination is placed in the sign of Cancer, Moon being the planetary lord of Cancer may cancel the debilitation status of Mars and hence Neechbhang RajYoga may be formed in the horoscope. Similarly, if this combination is placed in the sign of Scorpio, Mars being the planetary lord of Scorpio may cancel the debilitation status of Moon and Neechbhang RajYoga may be formed in the horoscope.

As a result, the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga in any one of these signs may produce extraordinary results related to some spheres of native’s life; when supported by his overall horoscope. This is due to the reason that the native is now under the impact of Chandra Mangal Yoga as well as Neechbhang RajYoga and hence he may benefit from both of them. Therefore, the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga in Cancer or Scorpio should be analyzed as a special case.

Moving on to the next factor, the influence of other positive or negative planets on Mars or Moon should also be checked properly, as this factor alone can change the results altogether, in some cases. For example, if malefic exalted Mercury is placed in the sign of Virgo along with benefic Mars and benefic Moon; the results may be disastrous. Though in theory, Chandra Mangal Yoga may form in this case; the practical results of this combination may be very bad for the native.

As we can see, Mars and Moon are not strong in this sign; hence weak Chandra Mangal Yoga may be formed. Moving on, malefic Mercury is very strong due to being exalted in Virgo. As a result, it may seriously afflict both Mars and Moon. Hence a defect may form in the horoscope which may trouble the native with many types of problems related to many spheres of his life, depending on the overall tone of this horoscope. Since the strength of such defect may be much higher than the strength of Chandra Mangal Yoga, the native may only witness the impact of such defect and he may not come across any visible impact of Chandra Mangal Yoga.

Considering this equation from the opposite angel; if exalted Mercury placed in the sign of Virgo along with Mars and Moon is positive; the results may be wonderful. Such positive exalted Mercury may provide additional strength to Chandra Mangal Yoga and the results may become even better. Therefore, the native may achieve many types of good results, including a post of high authority in the government or a position of great fame, if his overall horoscope is supportive.

You see, how much can change by merely adding a planet to this combination or even when the nature of such planet changes. For example, the formation of Chandra Mangal Yoga in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Cancer can bless the native with very good success as a creative artist, the placement of this Yog in the first house in the sign of Scorpio can bless the native with a post of authority in the government, the placement of this Yog in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Virgo can bless the native with very good results through a sport; and the placement of this Yog in the first house in the sign of Sagittarius may bless the native with very good success as a spiritual guru or astrologer.

I know it looks like many factors to check already, but it is not the end; and the most important factor still remains. The overall tone of a horoscope having Chandra Mangal Yoga in it should be checked thoroughly before reaching any conclusions, as this is the factor which can change each and everything. For example, the presence of Chandra Mangal Yoga in the tenth house of a horoscope can bless the native with top class authority in government, if the overall theme of his horoscope is authoritative. On the other hand, the placement of Chandra Mangal Yoga in the tenth house of a horoscope can bless the native with success as a sportsman; if the overall theme of the horoscope is sportive.

Similarly, Chandra Mangal Yoga placed in the tenth house of a horoscope can bless the native with good results through business, practice, spiritualism, astrology, inheritance and many other spheres; depending on the overall theme of his horoscope. Therefore, if you want to calculate the exact type of benefits that Chandra Mangal Yoga may pass on to a native, when formed in his horoscope, all these factors should be checked properly. Avoiding some of these factors may result in partly correct calculations or predictions. Though the native may achieve success if his overall horoscope is strong and positive, such success may reach high levels; as and when the planetary periods of Mars or Moon hit this native. This is because during these periods, Chandra Mangal Yoga may gain additional strength and hence it may bless the native with even better results.

Let’s assume a native becomes an actor under the impact of Chandra Mangal Yoga and let’s suppose his overall horoscope is strong. If the planetary periods of Moon or Mars don’t hit this native at relevant times during his acting career, he may still achieve good amount of success. For the sake of understanding, let’s assume this success to be of level 3, where 2 is better and 1 is the best level. Hence this native may still achieve level 3 success, even if the running times are not ruled by Moon or Mars.

However, if the planetary periods of Mars or Moon hit this native at relevant times, the native benefitting from the same Chandra Mangal Yoga may achieve level 2 or even level 1 success, depending on the strength of such running times. Hence he may become one of the most successful actors of his time or he may even become the most successful actor of his time. It should be noted that the term ‘relevant times’ in this context means when an opportunity has appeared.

Making it easy to understand, let’s assume a native benefitting from Chandra Mangal Yoga has a creative horoscope and he tries to achieve success through the field of acting. Now the prime time of his acting career is the relevant time in this case. It means if this native is under the effect of the planetary period of Mars or Moon during this time, he may come across very good movies, he may deliver very good performances and he may become a very successful movie star of level 1 or 2.

However, if the running time is not led by Mars or Moon; he may miss such higher levels of success due to many reasons, and he may get something less in value. For instance, he may not get offers for very good movies or he may choose to work in some not very good movies by making impulsive decisions. As a result, his movies may not perform so well and the level of success achieved by him may be reduced. Similarly, he may not be able to give his best performances during such periods, though he may have the potential to deliver high class performances.

It can be seen that even when the native is not supported by the planetary periods of Mars or Moon at relevant times, he may still achieve good results. However, such good results may not be of the highest order and they may be less in value or quantum. This is the time to understand that any type of good or bad Yog formed in a horoscope tends to give its best results when the planetary periods are ruled by a planet involved in the formation of that Yog.

It means Kaal Sarp Yog may prove very destructive when the planetary periods are ruled by Rahu or Ketu; since this Yog is formed by Rahu and Ketu. Similarly, Manglik Dosh may prove very bad when the planetary periods are ruled by Mars; as this defect is formed by Mars. Looking at the positive Yogas, Malavya Yoga may produce its best results when planetary periods are ruled by Venus. On the same lines, Chandra Mangal Yoga may produce its best results when the planetary periods are ruled by Mars or Moon.

Going even deeper, if a good or bad Yog is formed by more than one planet in a horoscope, the good or bad results of highest order are likely to be given during the running period of the planet which is stronger among the planets involved in the formation of such Yog. It means if Chandra Mangal Yoga is formed in the sign of Taurus, Moon is stronger than Mars and hence it dominates the results. Based on these facts, the native may come across good results; broadly divided among three levels.

For instance, if the overall theme of a horoscope having such Chandra Mangal Yoga is indicating success through acting, this is what may happen. If none of the planetary periods of Mars or Moon hits this native at relevant times, he may become an actor with success of level 3. If the planetary period of Mars hits this native at a relevant time, he may achieve success of level 2, as an actor. If the planetary period of Moon hits this native at a relevant time, he may achieve success of level 1 as an actor. This is the time when this native may achieve the peak of his acting career and he may deliver some unforgettable performances.

It means that the true potential of any good or bad Yoga is unleashed; only when the running time of the strongest planet involved in the formation of such Yoga hits the native at a relevant time. For example, if in the same case, the main planetary period of Moon hits this native during his age of 2 years and 12 years, his best chance may be wasted. It means that though this native may have the potential of becoming a level 1 actor, the period supporting that potential has hit him at an irrelevant time. Since the native may not become a level 1 actor during his childhood; and the main planetary period of Moon may not come again during his lifetime, he may miss the best possible gift of Chandra Mangal Yoga.

Hence this native may work in some movies as a child and he may achieve very good amount of success and recognition as a child artist. Logically, a child can’t become a superstar in most cases as his range of acting is limited to certain genres only. It should be noted that in all these examples, running times of the strongest benefic planets may only bring out the optimum potential lying in the horoscope and they may not increase that optimum potential. It means that the planetary period of Moon at a relevant time may only bless the native with level 1 success as an actor, if the overall horoscope shows this potential. However, if the overall horoscope shows an optimum potential of level 2 success as an actor, even when everything works at its best, the results may change.

The native in this case may become a level 2 actor when all the factors are working in his favor, he may become a level 3 actor when one of the factors like running time is not favorable; and he may not even become a level 3 actor, when most factors are not favorable for him at a given point in time. According to its definition prevalent in Vedic astrology, when Jupiter is in Kendra from Moon which means when Jupiter is in house number  1, 4, 7 or 10 from Moon, Gaj Kesari Yog is said to be formed in the horoscope which can bless the native with great fame, great skills, success, wealth and many other things.

As we know that there are only 12 houses in a horoscope and Jupiter can be present in any one of these 12 houses, when we count from the house of placement of Moon, the presence of Jupiter in 4 out of 12 houses will lead to the formation of Gaj Kesari Yog in the horoscope which means that randomly, every third person is having Gaj Kesari Yog in his horoscope since there are only 12 houses in a horoscope and the probability of Jupiter being placed in any one of 4 specific house out of 12 houses is one third.

Analyzing this definition further, we know that Moon transits a sign for 2 and a half days approximately and since the formation of Gaj Kesari Yog is decided by the placement of Jupiter from Moon, a Gaj Kesari Yog once formed stays active for about 2 and a half days which means that all the people born all around the world during these 2 and a half days will have a Gaj Kesari Yog in their horoscopes.

To simplify this fact, let us assume that Jupiter is present in Aries at a time and as we know that Jupiter stays in a sign for about a year, so when Moon enters in any of the signs namely Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, a Gaj Kesari Yog will be formed as Jupiter will be in house 1, 10, 7 and 4 from Moon in these cases. Since Moon stays in a sign for 2 and a half days and Jupiter does not change its sign fast, it means that such Gaj Kesari Yog will be active continuously for 2 and a half days.

The fact that a Gaj Kesari Yog is found in almost every third horoscope and the fact that this Yog remains activated for about 2 and a half days are very hard to justify practically as the good results associated with Gaj Kesari Yog are not so common which can be found in every third horoscope and any one of a very good Yog in Vedic astrology does not remain activated continuously even for an hour, let alone a period of 2 and a half days. This means that there are more conditions for the formation of Gaj Kesari Yog in a horoscope than the one mentioned in prevalent definition of this yog and we will now discuss these conditions.

To start with, both Jupiter and Moon should be working benefic in the horoscope for the formation of a Gaj Kesari Yog in the horoscope and if anyone or both these planets are working malefic in a horoscope, Gaj Kesari Yog will not be formed in the horoscope and the malefic planet will afflict the benefic planet which will cause problems instead of benefits. For example, if Moon and Jupiter are present in the same house of a horoscope, Moon is banefic but Jupiter is malefic, Gaj Kesari Yog will not be formed in this case and this combination of malefic Jupiter with banefic Moon will bring problems which will revolve around the significances of Moon. The worst kind of combination can happen when both Moon and Jupiter are working malefic in a horoscope as in this case, both the planets will suffer from the malefic effect of the other planet and no Gaj Kesari Yog will be formed in the horoscope.

And even when Gaj Kesari Yog is actually formed in the horoscope, its results will not be the same for different natives and they will change considerably according to the horoscopes of these natives. For example, Gaj Kesari Yog formed due to the presence of a benefic Jupiter and Moon in Cancer sign is generally much stronger than Gaj Kesari Yog formed due to the presence of a benefic Jupiter and Moon in Scorpio or Capricorn as Moon and Jupiter respectively are debilitated in Scorpio and Capricorn and hence they can’t contribute much towards this yog. On there hand, Jupiter is exalted in Cancer and Moon is in its own sign when placed in Cancer due to which, this yog gains much more strength as compared to the other combinations discussed.

Similarly Gaj Kesari Yog formed due to presence of benefic Jupiter and Moon in the same house is likely to be stronger than the Gaj Kesari Yog formed due to presence of benefic Jupiter in 7th house from Moon which is in turn stronger than the one formed with benefic Jupiter in 4th house from Moon which is stronger than the Gaj Kesari Yog formed with Jupiter in 10th house from Moon. The impact of other positive and negative planets on Jupiter, Moon and Gaj Kesari Yog itself should also be analyzed as this impact can considerably increase or decrease the strength of this yog.

The placement of Jupiter and Moon in different signs and different houses of a horoscope can also make a great difference in net resultant of Gaj Kesari Yog and the overall tone of the horoscope should also be checked properly before predicting the good effects of Gaj Kesari Yog in a horoscope. For example, Gaj Kesari Yog formed due to presence of benefic Jupiter and Moon in 10th house of a horoscope can be much easy for a native to handle compared to the one formed due to presence of benefic Jupiter and Moon in 8th house of a horoscope.

This is because, the energy of 8th house is difficult to handle and accordingly, not everyone can get the maxium benefits from this energy. On the other hand, some natives having such Gaj Kesari Yog in 8th house of their horoscopes may find it difficult to handle and channelize the energy given by this yog due to which they may face more difficulties than easy things. For such Gaj Kesari Yog to give very good benefits to the native, the overall horoscope should be strong and favorable as otherwise, the native may not be able to get much or anything at all from this benefic yog.

For example, such Gaj Kesari Yog formed in 8th house of a horoscope can bless the native with high class spiritual and paranormal development but that is only possible if the overall horoscope of the native is strong enough to handle and channelize this energy. If the overall horoscope is weak, the native may keep feeling troubled by this energy intead of getting any benefits through it. This happens because the Gaj Kesari Yog present in 8th house of his horoscope brings strong spiritual and paranormal energy to the native but the native being an overall weak personality due to having a weak horoscope, is not able to channelize this energy and instead he finds this energy difficult to handle due to which he feels troubled.

On the other hand, if the native has a strong horoscope which means that the Ascendant as well as the lord of Ascendant are strong and there are some other strong and benefic planets to provide more strength to the horoscope, the native will comfortable handle and channelize this energy and accordingly he will witness great progress in the spiritual and paranormal spheres. You see, though an equally strong and benefic Gaj Kesari Yog is present in two different horoscopes in the same house, the results are different depending on the overall horoscope.

Compared to the eighth house, the tenth house of the horoscope is a much easier house to handle and accordingly, most natives having Gaj Kesari Yog in tenth house of their horoscopes are able to get benefits through this yog though such benefits may once again differ in quantum depending on the overall strength and nature of horoscope of the native in question. For example, the lord of tenth house may be debiliteated in one horoscope and it may be exalted in another horoscope and this one difference alone can change the results given by Gaj Kesari Yog to a great extent.

Hence the overall results for a Gaj Kesari Yog, even when it actually forms in a horoscope, depend on many factors present in that horoscope and accordingly, such results should be predicted only after carefully analyzing all the important factors present in that horoscope.

According to its prevalent definition in Vedic astrology, when Sun and Mercury are conjunct in a horoscope, which means when Sun and Mercury are placed in the same house of a horoscope, BudhAditya Yoga is formed in the horoscope, which can bless the native with intelligence, leadership qualities, analytical abilities, communication skills, success, fame and many other good things.

Mercury as we know is the innermost planet of our solar system, which means that it is closest to the Sun and accordingly it is found present with the Sun in almost one third of the horoscopes. Hence BudhAditya Yoga should be formed in all these horoscopes. It means that all these people should be blessed with the good results indicated by this Yog, which is obviously not the case in actual practice; as we don’t see one third population of the world having these qualities and achieving name and fame due to these qualities. Hence there must be something more to the formation of this Yog than what has been mentioned in the prevalent definition of this Yog.

The primary condition for the formation of any benefic Yog in a horoscope is that all the planets involved in the formation of such Yog should be working positively in that horoscope. Therefore, in order for BudhAditya Yoga to be formed in a horoscope, both Sun and Mercury should be benefic in that horoscope. Sun and Mercury can broadly make four combinations when present in the same house of a horoscope. Out of these four combinations, the combination of positive Sun with positive Mercury may result in the formation of BudhAditya Yoga.

On the other hand, the remaining three combinations like the combination of benefic Sun with malefic Mercury, the combination of malefic Sun with benefic Mercury and the combination of malefic Sun with malefic Mercury may not lead to the formation of BudhAditya Yoga in the horoscope. This is because in all these three combinations, either one or both the planets placed together are malefic. Hence these combinations may not result in the formation of BudhAditya Yoga and instead they may form a negative Yog in which the negative planet may hit the general as well as the specific significances of the positive planet.

For example, the significances of Sun may suffer when this combination is present in a horoscope and Sun is benefic whereas Mercury is malefic. As a result, Pitra Dosh may form in the horoscope due to the affliction of negative Mercury to Sun, which may trouble the native on many fronts of his life. Similarly, the general as well as specific significances of Mercury may suffer when malefic Sun is present in the same house with benefic Mercury. As a result, the native may face problems related to health, the application of his mind as well as communication skills and specific problems indicated by this combination in the horoscope.

The worst kind of combination is found in cases where both Sun and Mercury are malefic in the horoscope as the significances of both Sun and Mercury may suffer in this case which can cause serious problems for the native and no BudhAditya Yoga may be formed in the horoscope. In this case, malefic Sun may hit the significances of malefic Mercury and malefic Mercury may hit the significances of malefic Sun in a negative way. Hence this combination can prove very bad for the native and he may have to suffer a lot in many spheres of his life. It should be noted that in all these combinations, whether Sun or Mercury may dominate the other depends on the strength of these planets as well as on the overall tone of the horoscopes in question. For example, if malefic Sun is placed with malefic Mercury in the sign of Aries or Leo, the significances of malefic Mercury may be hit much more than the significances of malefic Sun.

This is because Sun is more powerful in the signs of Aries and Leo; and hence it may dominate the results of this combination, whether such results are positive or negative. If Sun placed in Aries or Leo is positive and Mercury placed along with Sun in one of these signs is negative, the resultant may not be much destructive, though it may still be negative. This is due to the reason that positive Sun is stronger than negative Mercury in this case. Hence it may be able to reduce the damage caused by negative Mercury.

On the other hand, if a combination of malefic Sun and malefic Mercury is placed in the sign of Virgo or Gemini, the significances of Sun may be affected much more than the significances of Mercury. This is because Mercury is stronger in these signs, compared to Sun. Hence Mercury may dominate this combination, which means it may be able to reduce the damage caused by Sun and it may also be able to cause more damage to Sun. Similarly, if malefic Sun is placed with benefic Mercury in the sign of Virgo or Gemini, the resultant though negative; may not cause problems of high degree. This is due to the reason that positive Mercury is stronger than malefic Sun and hence it may reduce the damage caused by Sun.

Coming back to the definition, both Sun and Mercury should be positive in a horoscope, in order for BudhAditya Yoga to form in the horoscope. Once we are sure about the positive working of Sun and Mercury in one such horoscope, the next thing to check is their strength and level of activity. If positive Sun and positive Mercury are both strong in a horoscope, they may result in the formation of strong BudhAditya Yoga. Similarly, if they are both active in the horoscope, the results given by BudhAditya Yoga may be even better.

For example, the benefic results of BudhAditya Yoga may decrease considerably if this Yog is present in the sign of Libra or Pisces; as Sun and Mercury respectively are debilitated in these signs. As a result, weak Sun or weak Mercury may not contribute much towards BudhAditya Yoga; even when both these planets are benefic in the horoscope. On the other hand, if this Yoga is formed in the signs like Aries, Gemini, Leo or Virgo; the results may be very good. Such BudhAditya Yoga may bless the native with many types of good results, depending on the overall tone of his horoscope.

Moving on to the next factor, the influence of other positive or negative planets on Sun or Mercury should also be checked properly, as this factor alone can change the results altogether, in some cases. For example, if malefic exalted Saturn is placed in the sign of Libra along with benefic debilitated Sun and benefic Mercury; the results may be disastrous. Though in theory, BudhAditya Yoga may form in this case; the practical results of this combination may be very bad for the native.

As we can see, Sun is debilitated in this case; hence weak BudhAditya Yoga may be formed. Moving on, malefic Saturn is very strong due to being exalted. As a result, it may seriously afflict both Sun and Mercury and especially Sun, as it is very weak. Hence Pitra Dosh may form in the horoscope which may trouble the native with many types of problems related to many spheres of his life, depending on the overall tone of this horoscope. Since the strength of such Pitra Dosh may be much higher than the strength of BudhAditya Yoga, the native may only witness the impact of Pitra Dosh and he may not come across any visible impact of BudhAditya Yoga.

Considering this equation from the opposite angel; if exalted Saturn placed in the sign of Libra along with debilitated Sun and Mercury is positive; the results may be wonderful. Such positive exalted Saturn may form Neechbhang RajYoga in the horoscope, by cancelling the debilitation status of Sun. Hence the native may benefit from BudhAditya Yoga as well as from Neechbhang RajYoga. As a result, he may achieve many types of good results, including a post of high authority in the government, if his overall horoscope is supportive.

You see, how much can change by merely adding a planet to this combination or even when the nature of such planet changes. Hence all these factors should be checked carefully and only then the formation as well as the results indicated by BudhAditya Yoga should be concluded. Even a seemingly small factor like the house of placement of this Yoga may change everything. For example, the formation of BudhAditya Yoga in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Sagittarius can bless the native with a post of authority in the government, the placement of this Yog in the eleventh house in the sign of Sagittarius can bless the native with very good profits through business; and the placement of this Yog in the twelfth house in the sign of Sagittarius may bless the native with very good success as a spiritual guru or astrologer.

I know it looks like many factors to check already, but it is not the end; and the most important factor still remains. The overall tone of a horoscope having BudhAditya Yoga in it should be checked thoroughly before reaching any conclusions, as this is the factor which can change each and everything. For example, the presence of BudhAditya Yoga in the first house of a horoscope can bless the native with top class authority in government, if the overall theme of his horoscope is authoritative. On the other hand, the placement of BudhAditya Yoga in the first house of a horoscope can bless the native with success as an artist like a singer, dancer or actor; if the overall theme of the horoscope is creative.

Similarly, BudhAditya Yoga placed in the first house of a horoscope can bless the native with good results through business, practice, spiritualism, inheritance and many other spheres; depending on the overall theme of his horoscope. Therefore, if you want to calculate the exact type of benefits that BudhAditya Yoga may pass on to a native, when formed in his horoscope, all these factors should be checked properly. Avoiding some of these factors may result in partly correct calculations or predictions. This is because you know BudhAditya Yoga is present in the horoscope but you don’t know what is it going to do to the native?

Generally speaking, you can simply tell that something good is going to happen to the native having strong BudhAditya Yoga in his horoscope. Specifically speaking, you can’t tell what type of good, how much good and when can such good happen to this native, without looking into these details? As a result, the native may witness the strongest benefits of BudhAditya Yoga if he is hit by the planetary periods of Sun or Mercury during relevant years of his age. This very simple looking fact may not change the type of success you may achieve due to the influence of BudhAditya Yoga in many cases; however it may change the quantum of such success to a great extent.

For example, if BudhAditya Yoga is formed in the tenth house of a horoscope in the sign of Virgo and the overall theme of the horoscope is creative, the native may become an actor or a singer. Though the native may achieve success if his overall horoscope is strong and positive, such success may reach high levels; as and when the planetary periods of Sun or Mercury hit this native. This is because during these periods, BudhAditya Yoga may gain additional strength and hence it may bless the native with even better results.

Similarly, if BudhAditya Yoga is formed in the tenth house of a horoscope in the sign of Virgo and the overall theme of the horoscope is authoritative, the native may achieve a post of authority in the house of government through job or through politics. Let’s further assume that the overall theme of his horoscope supports authority through politics. Hence this native may become a minister in a state government, if his horoscope is strong and positive; even when the planetary periods are not ruled by Sun or Mercury.

However, if the planetary periods of Sun or Mercury hit this native at relevant times, the native benefitting from the same BudhAditya Yoga may become the chief minister of a state, a minister in the national government; or even the head of state of a country; depending on the overall strength of his horoscope. It should be noted that the term ‘relevant times’ in this context means when an opportunity has appeared.

Making it easy to understand, let’s assume a native benefitting from BudhAditya Yoga has an authoritative horoscope and he tries to achieve authority through politics. Let’s assume this native wants to run for the post of chief minister of a state. Now the time of election is the relevant time in this case. It means if this native is under the effect of the planetary period of Sun or Mercury during this time, he may be projected as a CM candidate by his party, his party may win the election and he may become a chief minister.

However, if the running time is not led by Sun or Mercury; he may miss this post due to many reasons, and he may get something less in value. For instance, his party may not declare him a candidate for CM though he may secure an important ministry in the state government; like home ministry. Looking at one more possibility, his party may declare him as a candidate for CM, they may lose the election and he may become the leader of the opposition; instead of becoming a CM. Similarly, this native may miss the post of CM due to other reasons also, depending on the overall tone of his horoscope as well as depending on the running times.

Taking one more example, let’s consider this native wants to achieve authority through a government job and he appears in civil exams in order to achieve the highest possible direct rank in administrative services. The time of exams and selection is the relevant time in this case. If the planetary period of Sun or Mercury hits this native during his years of age when he appears for such exams, he may clear them and he may get blessed with such post of high authority.

However, if the planetary periods of Sun or Mercury don’t hit him during these years of his age, he may not achieve such highest possible direct rank, though he may still be able to achieve something lower in value. Hence this native may clear another exam which may not bless him with the best type of post available in administrative services, but which may bless him with the second or the third best type of post of authority available.

It can be seen that in both these example, even when the natives are not supported by the planetary periods of Sun or Mercury at relevant times, they may still achieve good results. However, such good results may not be of the highest order and they may be less in value or quantum. This is the time to understand that any type of good or bad Yog formed in a horoscope tends to give its best results when the planetary periods are ruled by a planet involved in the formation of that Yog.

It means Kaal Sarp Yog may prove very destructive when the planetary periods are ruled by Rahu or Ketu; since this Yog is formed by Rahu and Ketu. Similarly, Manglik Dosh may prove very bad when the planetary periods are ruled by Mars; as this defect is formed by Mars. Looking at the positive Yogas, Hamsa Yoga may produce its best results when planetary periods are ruled by Jupiter. On the same lines, BudhAditya Yoga may produce its best results when the planetary periods are ruled by Sun or Mercury.

Going even deeper, if a good or bad Yog is formed by more than one planet in a horoscope, the good or bad results of highest order are likely to be given during the running period of the planet which is stronger among the planets involved in the formation of such Yog. It means if BudhAditya Yoga is formed in the sign of Virgo, Mercury is stronger than Sun and hence it dominates the results. Based on these facts, the native may come across good results; broadly divided among three levels.

For instance, if the overall theme of a horoscope having such BudhAditya Yoga is indicating authority through politics, this is what may happen. If none of the planetary periods of Sun or Mercury hits this native at relevant times, he may become a minister in a state government. If the planetary period of Sun hits this native at a relevant time, he may become the chief minister of a state. If the planetary period of Mercury hits this native at a relevant time, he may become a very important minister in the national government or he may even become the prime minister or the president of a country.

It means that the true potential of any good or bad Yoga is unleashed; only when the running time of the strongest planet involved in the formation of such Yoga hits the native at a relevant time. For example, if in the same case, the main planetary period of Mercury hits this native during his age of 2 years and 19 years, his best chance may be wasted. It means that though this native may have the potential of becoming a prime minister, the period supporting that potential has hit him at an irrelevant time. Since the native may not become a prime minster during his age of 2 and 19; and the main planetary period of Mercury may not come again during his lifetime, he may miss the best possible gift of BudhAditya Yoga.

Hence this native may witness his father or another family member in great authority during his childhood and he may enjoy a big part of such authority due to the planetary period of Mercury. Once he grows old, he may still achieve the second or third best type of results depending on the other important factors, though he may not achieve the best possible result. Shasha Yog is formed by Saturn in a horoscope and it is considered as one of the five great yogas known as Panch MahaPurusha Yogas in Vedic astrology where the other 4 yogas of this group are Hamsa Yog, Malavya Yog, Ruchaka Yog and Bhadra Yog. According to the prevalent definition of Shasha Yog, when Saturn is present in Kendra from Ascendant or Moon which means that when Saturn is placed in 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house from Ascendant or Moon, in any one of the signs Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius, Shasha Yog is formed in the horoscope.

Saturn is the planet which is associated with analytical ability, perseverance, practical nature, hard work, mysteries, the ability to connect to masses and many other things and accordingly the formation of Shasha Yog in a horoscope can bless the native with very good to great results related to the significances of Saturn. Hence every 12th person on average should be having Shasha Yog in his horoscope and accordingly every 12th person on average should be blessed with the great benefic effects given by Shasha yog which is obviously not the case in real practice as each Yog grouped under Panch MahaPurusha Yogas is a rare yog and it is not found in a big number of horoscopes and instead each one of these yogas is found rarely. These facts clearly indicate that the conditions mentioned in the prevalent definition of Shasha Yog are not sufficient for confirming the formation of this yog in a horoscope and there should be more conditions and facts which should be checked in a horoscope in order to confirm the formation of Shasha Yog in that horoscope.

As with most the other benefic yogas, Saturn must work as a benefic planet in a horoscope in order to form Shasha Yog in that horoscope as the benefic results given by Shasha Yog will show up only when Saturn is benefic in the horoscope and these results will not show up when Saturn is malefic in the horoscope and instead a malefic Saturn can form some of the most serious defects in a horoscope. Accordingly, the formation of Bhadra Yoga in a horoscope can bless the native with success in business, fame as a great speaker or orator, youthful appearance and many other things which come under the significances of Mercury.

Accordingly, the probability of Mercury being placed in any particular house in different signs makes 12 placements of Mercury in every house. Since Mercury can be present in 12 different signs in each house, so the total number of combinations for all 12 houses will be 144.

Looking at the formation of Bhadra Yoga, Mercury can form Bhadra Yoga when present in 1st house in one of the two signs namely Gemini and Virgo, and hence the number of occurrences is 2. The same number of occurrences will be found in case of placements of Mercury in 4th, 7th and 10th houses which makes a total of 8 occurrences of Bhadra Yoga out of the total 144 placements of Mercury in 12 different houses and in 12 different signs.

Hence this Yoga should be present in every 18th horoscope on average and accordingly every 18th person should be blessed with the great qualities and luck rendered by this Yoga. This is obviously not the case in actual practice as such great qualities and achievements are found rarely. It means that there are more conditions for the formation of Bhadra Yoga in a horoscope and this Yoga can’t be confirmed merely on the basis of presence of Mercury in some particular houses and some particular signs in a horoscope.

The most important factor for the formation of Bhadra Yoga in a horoscope is that Mercury should be working as a benefic planet in the horoscope, apart from being placed in any one of the already mentioned houses in any one of the already mentioned signs. On the other hand, malefic Mercury placed in any of the above mentioned 4 houses in any of the signs namely Gemini and Virgo may not form Bhadra Yoga and it may form a defect in the horoscope which may trouble the native with many kinds of problems. This is because a positive yoga is a good thing and good things can only be rendered by benefic planets. Malefic planets can’t bless a person with very good results in the long run, though they may sometimes give some temporary gains to some natives, if their overall horoscopes are supportive for such gains.

For example, malefic Mercury placed in 1st house of a horoscope in Gemini or Virgo can render enhanced mental and communication abilities to the native but the native may use them negatively. Though this native may witness short term gains by virtue of these qualities, if the overall horoscope is supportive for such gains; the results in the long run may be very bad. Similarly, malefic Mercury present in any of the other three central houses of a horoscope can also cause problems for the native in one sphere of life or the other. Hence, the need for Mercury to be benefic is a must meet condition for the formation of Bhadra Yoga in a horoscope.

Moving on to the third condition, Mercury should have a fairly good level of activity in order for it to form Bhadra Yoga of very good strength. It should be noted that the strength of any good or bad Yog depends on the strength and level of activity of the planet or planets forming such Yog in a horoscope. For example, if benefic exalted Mercury placed in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Virgo has its level of activity as 40%, Bhadra Yoga of average strength will be formed in the horoscope. Similarly, such Mercury may form Bhadra Yoga with strength ranging from 0 to 100%, depending on the level of activity of Mercury in different horoscopes.

For the purpose of practical results associated with Bhadra Yoga, strength below 20% is ignored as any type of Yog less than 20% strength is not capable of producing significant results. On the other hand, any type of good or bad Yog with strength more than 80% can give extreme types of results related with such Yog, whether such results are positive or negative. Hence the level of activity of a planet is a very important consideration while deciding the formation and results of any Yog in a horoscope as it can significantly affect the net results.

Combining all these results, we get the refined definition of Bhadra Yoga and this is what this definition says. If Mercury is benefic in a horoscope, it is active and it is placed in the any one of the Kendra houses in any one of the signs namely Gemini and Virgo, Bhadra Yoga is formed, which may bless the native with many types of good results related to the domain of Mercury, depending on the overall tone of the horoscope.

Now that we have established the necessary conditions for the formation of Bhadra Yoga in a horoscope, let’s move further and see how this Yog can produce different results in different horoscopes, depending on many variables. It should be noted that even if present in a horoscope, any good or bad Yog may not be activated from the time of birth of the native and this activation may vary from person to person. It means that Bhadra Yoga present in different horoscopes may have different times of activation and accordingly, different natives may start benefitting from it during different ages. On the other hand, Bhadra Yoga formed due to the presence of Mercury in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Gemini along with malefic Saturn may not produce any significant good results. On the other hand, if such malefic Saturn is very strong in such horoscope, the native may suffer from various types of diseases, he may become a criminal or he may die at a young age in an accident, depending on the overall tone of his horoscope. It should be noted that Saturn has just been used for reference and the same results may be witnessed due to the presence of other strong and malefic planets with Mercury, in the same case. Therefore, the effect of other good or bad planets on Mercury should also be checked before predicting the good or bad results indicated by Bhadra Yoga.

Above all, the overall theme of the horoscope having such Bhadra Yoga should be analyzed carefully as this is what matters the most. I have mentioned time and again that the overall theme of a horoscope is the most important aspect in it and it can change each and everything. For example, if Bhadra Yoga is formed due to the presence of Mercury in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Gemini and the overall theme of the horoscope is indicating authority, this Yoga may bless the native with good results related to some type of authority.

Looking even deeper, if the horoscope is showing good trends related to education, the native may achieve such authority through government job, by virtue of his education. However, if Bhadra Yoga is present in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Gemini, the overall theme is authoritative, educations trends are not very good and public dealing as well as diplomatic aspect is strong, the native may achieve a post of authority through politics. This is because the native may not be interested much in education and he may instead be interested in a more liberal and adventurous type of lifestyle. Hence he may join politics as government jobs come with many rules to follow whereas politics is much more liberal.

Similarly, if Bhadra Yoga is formed in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Gemini and the overall theme is creative due to the combination of various planets, the native may become an actor or a singer. Every yog among Panch MahaPurusha Yogas is comparatively rare and it is not found in so many horoscopes as suggested by the prevalent definition of Ruchaka Yog. Therefore there should be more conditions which should be met in order to confirm the formation of Ruchaka Yog in a horoscope. To start with, Mars should be a benefic planet in a horoscope for the good effects of Ruchaka Yog to show in the horoscope as a malefic Mars will not form a Ruchaka Yog with good effects and on the contrary it can from a Kuja Dosha in three out of the four houses namely 1st, 4th and 7th house of the horoscope.

Mars is also known as a planet of conflicts, arguments, fights, battles and wars along with the positive qualities mentioned above and the negative qualities of Mars are very likely to show up first when Mars is malefic in a horoscope and at the same time it is placed in first, fourth, seventh or tenth house of a horoscope in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn. Such a malefic placement of Mars can cause serious malefic effects and it can also lead to the formation of Kuja Dosha in the horoscope. It should be noted that Mars is very powerful when it is present in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn and accordingly a malefic Mars present in any one of these three signs will make very strong defects due to its increased strength and the native under the influence of this malefic placement can become very argumentative, quarrelsome, criminal minded and in some extreme cases, the native under the strong influence of such a malefic placement can become notorious by virtue of illegal and immoral deeds done by him.

Hence it should be noted that there is a very fine line between a Ruchaka Yog, a Kuja Dosha or any other possible defect which can be formed in a horoscope by virtue of placement of Mars in any one of 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house of a horoscope in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn and this fine line is drawn by the functional nature of Mars in the horoscope. It means that a benefic Mars can form Ruchaka Yog in the horoscope whereas a Malefic Mars can form a Kuja Dosha or some other defect in the horoscope. Therefore the presence of Ruchaka Yog in a horoscope should be analyzed very carefully before making any predictions about this yog as it can be the exact opposite in some horoscopes.

Once the presence of Ruchaka Yog is confirmed in a horoscope, the next step is to determine the influence of other benefic or malefic planets on Mars as the influence of one or more than one benefic planet on Mars can significantly increase the benefic effects of Ruchaka Yog whereas the influence of one or more than one malefic planet on Mars can significantly reduce the benefic effects of Ruchaka Yog. In some extreme cases, the malefic influence of more than one malefic planets on Mars can completely nullify the benefic effects of Ruchaka Yog. The overall tone of the horoscope should also be analyzed properly as the presence of some serious defect like Sarpa Dosha in the horoscope can reduce the benefic effects of Ruchaka Yog in the horoscope whereas the presence of a benefic yog like Gaj Kesari Yog along with Ruchaka Yog can significantly increase the good effects of Ruchaka Yog.

Hence all the factors should be analyzed properly before predicting the presence of Ruchaka Yog in a horoscope and role of other benefic and malefic planets should also be properly analyzed.
