Shani Sade Sati
Saturn can punish you by entering your timeline in many ways and one of these ways is called Sade Sati of Saturn. In Vedic Astrology; it is believed that when Saturn enters the sign which is the twelfth sign from your Moon sign; Sade Sati of Saturn starts and it comes to an end when it leaves the sign which is second to your Moon sign. It means Shani Sade Sati remains effective while Saturn transits through the twelfth sign from Moon, the Moon sign and the second sign from Moon.
For example, if Moon is placed in the sign of Capricorn in your birth chart, Capricorn is your Moon sign. Accordingly; when Saturn enters Sagittarius during its transit through twelve signs of zodiac; your Sade Sati has started. Saturn will now transit through Sagittarius, Capricorn and then Aquarius. Once it leaves Aquarius; your Sade Sati has finished. Saturn moves through a sign in about 30 months which is about two and a half years. Hence it takes about seven and a half years for Saturn to move through these three signs. Hence the meaning of Sade Sati is the transit of Saturn through three specific signs relative to the Moon sign in a horoscope; over a period of seven and a half years.
How Shani Sade Sati Works
After understanding how Sade Sati of Saturn forms in a horoscope; let’s now try to understand its working in various horoscopes. It is commonly stated that Sade Sati is harmful for everyone and therefore anyone coming under its influence should undergo various types of problems. This is nothing but a misconception and it can give you bad as well as good results; based on the working of Saturn in your horoscope; as well as based on your karmas of present life. The second factor applies only after the age of 40 and not before that, in most of the cases of Shani Sade Sati. It means that if Sade Sati of Saturn strikes you at the age of 20, its positive or negative effects will be based on the benefic or malefic nature of Saturn in your horoscope and it is not likely to consider the karmas of your present life. However, if Sade Sati of Saturn strikes you around the age of 60 years; both the working nature of Saturn in your horoscope as well as your karmas of this life will be considered in order to calculate the possible good or bad effects of Saturn in your horoscope. Among your karmas also; those karmas will prominently affect Sade Sati in a good or bad way; which have been done in the domain of Saturn.
First Phase of Sade Sati
Let’s take an example to understand this concept; by looking into various possibilities. Let’s assume that in a horoscope, malefic Saturn is placed in the tenth house of a horoscope in the sign of Leo, Scorpio is the ascendant rising, Moon is placed in the fourth house of this horoscope in the sign of Aquarius; and the rest of the horoscope may be benefic, malefic or mixed one in various possibilities. As we can see, Moon is placed in the house seventh from Saturn and it means that first occurrence of Sade Sati for this native will happen around 12 years of his age. This is because Saturn takes about 30 years to complete its transit through all 12 signs and accordingly it should take Saturn about 12 years to cross five signs and reach the sign of Capricorn. As Saturn enters Capricorn, Sade Sati of Saturn starts for this native. Since this is a young age; only the working nature of Saturn will be taken into account while calculating the effects of Sade Sati for this native and the factor of present life’s karmas will not be considered as the native has not done much in this life; in his awareness.
As the working of Saturn is negative in the horoscope; the effects of Sade Sati will be bad for this native and these effects may differ in quantum, based on the remaining horoscope of the native. Analysing this equation; Saturn is placed in tenth house in Leo in birth chart and it is placed in the third house in Capricorn in transit chart whereas Moon is placed in fourth house in Aquarius, in the birth chart. It should be noted that whenever Saturn enters a Sade Sati phase in a horoscope through transit; Saturn placed in the birth chart will also get more activated than usual and as a result; the significances of house of placement of such Saturn will also be affected.
Third house deals with many significances but since the native is quite young at this age; many of these significances won’t be affected as they may not have been activated by this time. For instance; third house partly deals with the profession of a native but this significance won’t be affected much; since the native may not have any profession at all; at the age of 12. The same may be the case with many other significances which may not be applicable and hence they won’t be affected. We will now look at some significances which are likely to be affected at this age. Third house deals with siblings as well as sporting activities and hence both these significances may be affected negatively. Second Phase of Sade Sati
When Saturn crosses Capricorn and it enters Aquarius; the second phase of Sade Sati starts for this native. It should be noted that as a general rule, the second phase of Sade Sati of Saturn is always the most significant phase; since transitory Saturn is directly in touch with natal Moon. In this case, the significances of fourth house as well as general significances of Moon will be affected negatively and the quantum of this impact once again depends on rest of the horoscope. In general, problems related to emotional stability, mother, education, transformation into youth and some other problems may appear during this phase. The native may also face problems related to his father and his wellbeing since Moon is the lord of ninth house in this horoscope and ninth house deals with the affairs of father and forefathers, among other things. If the horoscope is supportive for a specific problem to aggravate; the native may witness very bad results related to that specific problem.
During the second phase of Sade Sati of Saturn; problems from other spheres which have already been mentioned may also appear. The quantum of these problems will once again be decided by the overall theme of horoscope of this native. But whatever is the horoscope; one thing is sure that this is going to be the most troublesome phase of Sade Sati for this native. The significances of tenth house may once again not be affected much and they may remain intact. As Saturn leaves the sign of Aquarius and it enters the sign of Pisces, the third phase of Sade Sati starts. According to the basic setup of this horoscope; this is going to be the least troublesome phase of Sade Sati of Saturn for this native. It should be noted that the second phase of Shani Sade Sati is the most important, beneficial or troublesome phase for most natives. However, whether the first phase or third phase of Sade Sati will hold more relevance in positive or negative way after the second phase; may differ from horoscope to horoscope. In this case, the third phase of Sade Sati of Saturn will be the least troublesome.
Third Phase of Sade Sati
Some problems related to the significances of the fifth house may appear and accordingly the native may face some problems related to these significances. Impact of Second Occurrence of Sade Sati
Moving on, the second occurrence of Sade Sati of Saturn will appear around 42 years of age of this native. This is the time when this native may feel the full impact of Sade Sati as the significances of all the houses have been activated by now and at the same time; the positive or negative impact of karmas of native’s present life will also be taken into account. Let’s now discuss some possibilities in case of third phase of Shani Sade Sati.
As Saturn enters into Capricorn, the first phase of Sade Sati starts and this time; it’s much different than before. The health of native’s mother may go bad or very bad during this phase of Sade Sati, she may have to be operated or treated for serious illness and in extreme cases, she may die. Once again, the key to this equation will be found in the horoscope of native’s mother. If her horoscope show strong signs of continuation of life; she may go through significant health issues but she may survive them, during this phase of Sade Sati. However, whether she survives or not; the native may have to spend a great deal of money towards medical treatment of her mother during this phase. As Saturn leaves Aquarius and it enters Pisces; the third phase of Sade Sati begins. For example, if Saturn is placed in the tenth house in Leo, Moon is placed in the fourth house in Aquarius, malefic Rahu is placed in the twelfth house of this horoscope in Libra along with Jupiter, thereby forming Guru Chandal Yog, malefic Ketu is placed in the sixth house of this horoscope in Aries and the rest of the horoscope doesn’t have any grace saving factors; the native may face problems related to children during this phase of Sade Sati of Saturn. Once again, the type and quantum of problems will vary, depending on the overall horoscope of the native as well as depending on the horoscopes of the children. For instance, one of native’s children may become a drug addict or he may fall into bad company, thereby engaging in various types of troublesome activities, during this phase.
Looking into an interesting sphere of life as mentioned above, the native may face issues related to his spiritual path during this phase of Sade Sati, if such inclinations are there in his horoscope. It means that the native may start searching for some Guru or for some spiritual path during this phase and he may have to go through conflicting as well as troublesome experiences related to this sphere during this phase of Sade Sati of Saturn.
