Bhakoot dosh is the second most feared dosha which is formed during the process of match making or horoscope matching through gun Milan. The system of gun Milan has been used for the purpose of horoscope matching or match making since Vedic times in India and many astrologers still assign great value to this system called gun Milan which seems all right considering the kind of importance given to gun Milan by Vedic Jyotish. However many astrologers consider and believe that gun Milan is the only system that needs to be considered for the purpose of match making or horoscope matching and nothing else needs to be considered which is not practical, realistic and hence not right and there are many other aspects in the horoscopes of bride and groom which are to be analyzed in order to predict the result of horoscope matching or match making in a right and accurate way and the system of gun Milan is not sufficient to tell the course of horoscope matching or match making on its own. The system of gun Milan indicates a Bhakut dosh in horoscope matching or match making if some specific conditions are met in the horoscopes which are based on the placement of Moon in some specific signs and nakshatras in the horoscopes of bride and groom and the formation of a bhakoot dosha during match making is associated with very bad results which can even cause the death of one or both of the partners according to gun Milan if such partners choose to marry despite the presence of bhakut dosha in match making or horoscope matching. In today’s article, we will discuss the formation of Bhakoot Dosh, malefic results associated with Bhakut Dosha and the actual relevance of Bhakoot Dosha in the system of gun Milan as well as in the process of horoscope matching or match making and we will also try to find out whether a Bhakut Dosha is actually capable of causing the kind of troubles which are associated with this dosh or the problems associated with Bhakoot Dosh have simply been exaggerated.
To start with the topic, let’s first understand as to what is a Bhakoot Dosh and even before that, lets first understand as to what is a Bhakoot according to gun Milan and according to Vedic Jyotish. As we know that all nine planets called navagraha in Vedic Jyotish are always on their journey from one sign to the other and from one nakshatra to the other and accordingly the Moon also travels from Ashvini nakshatra to Revati nakshatra and from Aries to Pisces in a cyclic movement and at any given point of time and place, Moon is present in a particular nakshatra and in a particular sign. For example, let’s assume that Moon is present in Rohini nakshatra and Taurus sign at this time and place and accordingly all the people born under this time and place will have the Moon placed in Rohini nakshatra and in Taurus sign in their birth horoscopes. Hence the birth nakshatra of these natives is Rohini and birth sign or Raashi as it is called in Vedic Jyotish, of these natives is Taurus. Moving ahead, let’s consider another horoscope in which Moon is placed in Moola nakshatra and in Sagittarius sign and accordingly Moola becomes the birth nakshatra of this native and Sagittarius becomes the Moon sign or Rashi of this native. Now the Moon signs or Rashis of both of these natives are called their Bhakuts and the matching of these bhakoots is done through the system of gun Milan. According to the system of gun Milan, if Moon sign or bhakut of bride or groom makes a combination of 5-9, 6-8 or 2-12 with the bhakoot of other partner on the basis of distance of one Moon sign or bhakut from the other Moon sign or bhakoot, a bhakut dosha is said to be formed in such a horoscope matching or match making.
Simplifying the above example, we know that the Moon sign or Bhakoot of one partner let’s say groom is Taurus and the Moon sign or Bhakoot of the other partner, let’s say bride is Sagittarius. Now when we start counting Moon signs from the Moon sign or bhakut of the groom which is Taurus, it is found that Sagittarius which is the Moon sign or Bhakoot of the girl, is placed at a distance of 8 signs from Taurus and similarly when we count Moon signs from the Moon sign or bhakoot of the girl, it is found that Taurus is situated at a distance of 6 signs from Sagittarius and hence the combination of 6-8 bhakut is obtained in this case which leads to the formation of a bhakoot dosha in horoscope matching or match making. Similarly if the Moon sign of the girl is Gemini and the Moon sign or bhakut of the boy is Taurus, a combination of 2-12 is formed between the Moon signs and a bhakoot dosha is again said to be formed in horoscope matching or match making and likewise a bhakut dosh of 5-9 is said to be formed in horoscope matching or match making if Moon sign or bhakoot of boy is Taurus and Moon sign or bhakut of girl is Virgo which make a relation of 5-9 which again forms a bhakoot dosh. And now as we know what is bhakut dosha, let’s look at some of the malefic results associated with each kind of bhakoot dosh. It is said that a bhakut dosha of 2-12 formed in match making can make the couple suffer from extreme poverty and the financial position of such a couple is not likely to improve throughout their lives. A bhakoot dosh of 5-9 which is also called navam pancham bhakoot dosh in Vedic Jyotish, when formed during match making is said to delay or deny the production or generation of children and it is believed by many astrologers that the presence of a 5-9 bhakut dosha is very bad for child birth. A bhakoot dosh of 6-8 which is also called shadashtak bhakut dosha in Vedic Jyotish when formed during match making is said to cause divorce or the death of one or both the partners if such partners choose to marry despite the formation of this dosh during match making or horoscope matching. The system of gun Milan also lays some rules for exception which means that a bhakut dosha is said to be cancelled or nullified in match making or horoscope matching if any one of the following conditions is met :
If the Lord of Moon Signs or Rashi is the same in both the horoscopes, Bhakoot dosh is said to be nullified. For example 6-8 Bhakut dosha is said to be nullified in case of Aries-Scorpio and Taurus-Libra and 12-2 Bhakoot dosh is said to be nullified in case of Capricorn-Aquarius.
If the Lord of Moon Signs are friendly with each other, Bhakut Dosh is said to be nullified. For example, Pisces-Aries and Aries-Sagittarius.
If Nadi Dosh is not present in the horoscopes, the effect of Bhakoot Dosh is said to be reduced depending upon some other factors.
Moving ahead, the system of gun Milan assigns 7 gunas or points to bhakut and the formation of a bhakoot dosha in horoscope matching or match making means that the couple has scored 0 out of 7 for bhakut match. It should be noted here that the system of gun Milan is based on matching 8 aspects or koots from both the horoscopes which are called Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha, Gan, Bhakoot and Nadi and all of these 8 koots are assigned 1 to 8 points or gunas respectively which make a total of 36 and a final score is calculated for a particular horoscope matching or match making based on how good or bad is the matching of each one of these 8 koots. Since bhakut lies at second position from the top of this pyramid of gunas, hence the formation of a bhakoot dosha during the process of horoscope matching deducts 7 points straight away and a bhakut dosha is said to be formed which can cause various kinds of problems in marriage depending upon which kind of bhakoot dosh is formed in horoscope matching or match making.
Now let’s try to analyze bhakut dosha with the help of scientific facts and statistics and let’s see if bhakoot dosh is actually capable of doing the kind of damage which is associated with it. As we know that there are only twelve zodiac signs according to Vedic Jyotish and accordingly there are only 12 Moon signs or Bhakoots for both boy and girl. It further means that only 12 kinds or relations can be formed between the Moon signs of boy and girl when their horoscopes are analyzed for match making or horoscope matching. For example, if the Moon sign or Bhakut of Boy is Aries, then only 12 combinations of bhakoot can be formed with any girl depending upon the bhakut or Moon sign of the girl under consideration for match making or horoscope matching. These combinations can be named as 1-1, 2-12, 3-11, 4-10, 5-9, 6-8, 7-7, 8-6, 9-5, 10-4, 11-3 and 12-2 and as we can clearly see from this data that 6 out of these 12 possible combinations of bhakoots or Moon signs form a bhakut dosh in horoscope matching or match making according to the system of gun Milan, hence every second match making or horoscope matching on average is likely to be afflicted by a bhakoot dosha which means that about 50% cases of horoscope matching or match making are suffering from bhakut dosha. Making some adjustments for the exceptions given for bhakoot dosha, the total percentage still comes closer to 40% which means that every second or third girl on average is prohibited for a boy and every second or third boy is prohibited for a girl merely on the basis of bhakut dosha. As we know that most of the people who do not belong to India, do not go through this process of horoscope matching and gun Milan, hence every second or third marriage of the world should be facing serious troubles and problems indicated by bhakoot dosh and accordingly the rate of childless couples, divorces and deaths should be very high in the world merely due to bhakut dosh. It should also be noted here that bhakoot dosh is only one of the defects formed during horoscope matching or match making and there are many other defects like Nadi Dosha, Kuja Dosha, Sarpa Dosha, Pitru Dosha, Kemdrum Yog and other defects of this kind, each of which is capable of causing equally serious problems in 40 to 50% of the marriages according to the prevalent definition of these doshas. Taking everything into consideration, it can be easily said that almost all the marriages in the world should end up in divorces or deaths which is absolutely not the truth and which is far away from truth.
Hence the presence of bhakoot dosha during horoscope matching or match making alone is not sufficient on its own to cause the kind of damages which are associated with this dosha and there are many other factors in both the horoscopes which should confirm the problems caused by bhakoot dosha in a horoscope matching or match making and only then such kind of severe problems are likely to trouble the married life of a couple. In my experience of horoscope matching which now goes over thousands of cases of horoscope matching or match making, I have seen hundreds of successful marriages in spite of the presence of a bhakoot dosh in horoscope matching or match making mainly due to fact that the overall horoscopes of such couples were giving very good indications about the marriage and married lives of these couples and the benefic and positive factors present in these horoscopes reduced the malefic effects of bhakoot dosha to great extent and hence bhakut dosh could not cause any significant damage to these couples. Hence it should be kept in mind that the formation of a bhakoot dosh during horoscope matching can cause significant problems in the marriage of the couple under consideration only if such a bhakoot dosha is supported by some other malefic doshas present in one or both the horoscopes and a bhakut dosh is not capable of doing serious damages on its own in most of the cases. It should also be noted that the presence of good yogas in one or both the horoscopes can reduce the bad effects of bhakoot dosh to great extents and accordingly this dosha cannot do any significant damage in such a marriage. Therefore the couples having a bhakoot dosha during horoscope matching or match making should not lose heart and they should get their horoscopes matched properly in order to know whether such a bhakoot dosh is capable of doing any damage or not. Another good news for such couples suffering from bhakut dosh is that the malefic effects of bhakut dosha present in horoscope matching can be rectified with astrological remedies like Yantras, Mantras and pujas in most of the cases which gives us another reason not to be too afraid of bhakut dosh.
