Poorvabhadrapada is undoubtedly one of the most daredevil, dramatic, adventurous, secretive and violent nakshatras among all the nakshatras. Poorvabhadrapada is taken as the twenty fifth nakshatra among the twenty seven nakshatras which are considered important in Vedic astrology for making calculations from horoscopes. The word Poorvabhadrapada literally translates into The former one who had lucky feet and accordingly many Vedic astrologers associate this nakshatra with fortune and good luck for the native under the strong influence of this nakshatra. Vedic astrology associates more than one symbol with this nakshatra and accordingly all of these symbols have their influence on this nakshatra. The main symbol assigned to this nakshatra is the Front two legs of a bed and some Vedic astrologers believe that these two legs belong to a funeral cot instead of a bed and through these different interpretations, Poorvabhadrapada associate with the realm of death as well as the realm of sleep. Some Vedic astrologers believe that Pooravabhadrapada has a lot to do with death as well as the life after death and the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra have a tendency to connect to the supernatural world and some natives under the influence of this nakshatra try to connect to the world of the dead through different means and mediums and try to get benefits through the souls by using them for some information or some jobs. Many Vedic astrologers are unanimous on the opinion that natives under the strong influence of Poorvabhadrapada can be the most dangerous, destructive, violent and yet versatile at the same time which means that such natives can become complete devils at one time whereas they can act in a very civilized manner at some other time.

Some Vedic astrologers assign the symbol of this nakshatra as a Two Faced Man where one face belongs to a very gentle, civilized and cultured person whereas the second face belongs to a very violent and destructive person and accordingly natives under the strong influence of Poorvabhadrapada are likely to have two sides of personality where one sides belongs to a very gentle and civilized person and the second side belongs to a very violent and destructive person. In practical observation and analysis of horoscopes, the influence of this symbol of a two faced man is found to be present much more than the influence of any other symbol on this nakshatra and most of the Poorvabhadrapada natives are capable of keeping two different personalities within themselves and both of these personalities are generally quite opposite to each other and the interesting thing about this nakshatra is that the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra are most of the times very well capable of maintaining these two opposite shades of their personality and they are very skilled at switching between these two sides of their personality as per the demand of the situation. For this reason, PoorvaBhadrapada natives can prove to be the toughest kinds of prisoners to deal with if they choose to engage in criminal activities. This is due to the fact that most of the criminals under the influence of Poorvabhadrapada are so shrewd at disguising themselves that it is very hard for even the wisest of the people to detect the true shade of their personality. For example, a college professor who has a very good reputation in the college and society and who is considered as a gentleman and nice person in the society and who always preaches the others to abide by the laws of the land and who is never seen to violate any kind of law and who in reality works for a mafia organization or a militant group and who is responsible for destructions on large scales, is a typical example of a native under the strong negative influence of Poorvabhadrapada.

On the other hand the same college professor working as a secret agent with some top lever government agency is a typical example of a native under the strong positive influence of Poorvabhadarpada. Hence the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra are very likely to have a hidden side of their personality which is quite opposite to the visible side of their personality and the visible side of their personality most of the times, is just a cover up for to hide their true identity. Some Vedic astrologer assign the symbol of a Sword to this nakshatra and some of these astrologers believe that the symbol has a two edged sword instead of a simple sword which again represents the dual nature of this nakshatra and at the same time this symbol associates this nakshatra with protection, destruction and wars as a sword is used for all of these purposes. Vedic astrology assigns Aja Ekapada as the ruling deity of this nakshatra. The word Aja Ekapada literally translates into A Goat with One Foot and Vedic mythology pictures this deity as a very obscure looking monster creature who has the face of a goat and who only has one foot or one leg and who has a strongly fear arising personality. Some Vedic astrologers believe that Aja Ekapada is one of the various disguises used by the Rudra form of Lord Shiva and through Aja Ekapada, this nakshatra connects to Lord Shiva. But it should be kept in mind that Aja Ekapada connects to the Rudra and destructive form of Lord Shiva and not to the soft and benevolent form of Lord Shiva and accordingly natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra have a tendency to be attached to the activities and fields which have something to do with destruction and violence in accordance with the nature of the ruling deity of this nakshatra.

Vedic astrology assigns Jupiter as the ruling planet of this nakshatra and the association of Jupiter with a violent and destructive nakshatra like Poorvabhadrapada is a cause of confusion for many Vedic astrologers as Jupiter is considered as a the most benevolent and benefic planet in Vedic astrology whereas Poorvabhadrapada exhibits characteristics which are quite opposite to the general nature of Jupiter. Hence some Vedic astrologers believe that the destruction and violence caused by Poorvabhadrapada should be seen as a purification process by means of which Rudra brings changes which are necessary for the survival of the universe and renewal of life. The first three parts of Poorvabhadrapada fall in the sign of Aquarius ruled by Saturn whereas the last part of this nakshatra falls in the sign of Pisces ruled by Jupiter and accordingly this nakshatra comes under the influence of Saturn also which renders qualities like deep meditation, penance and practicality to this nakshatra. Under the combined influence of the planets and ruling deities, the final nature of this nakshatra is formed which may differ from horoscope to horoscope depending upon the strength and nature of its ruling planets in the horoscope. Poorvabhadrapada natives have a strong tendency to possess a dual nature and these natives are known as masters of disguise by some Vedic astrologers as they are very skilled at changing appearance and faking personalities. Many Vedic astrologers consider Poorvabhadrapada a very difficult energy to handle in the present day and age and accordingly the chances of the energy of this nakshatra working negatively have increased a great deal in the present day and age which has already become a cause of concern for the world as a whole and which is likely to cause much more violence and destruction in the coming times. Hence Pooravbhadrapada is seen as a negative nakshatra by many Vedic astrologers though it is very much capable of working positively also.

Natives under the strong negative influence of Poorvabhadrapada are likely to engage in the activities which are considered illegal by law and which are the cause of violence or destruction on some level. For example, many serial killers and murders who are successfully able to disguise themselves as good and genuine people are likely to be under the strong influence of this nakshatra and likewise the drug dealers who secretly deal in life threatening drugs and distribute these drugs among common people which cause casualties or serious malfunctions of the body organs of the people using these drugs, are also likely to be under the strong influence of this nakshatra. Some Vedic astrologers believe that Poorvabhadrapada is always associated with some kind of punishment or purification by means of violence, destruction or self mortification and some natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra can choose to purify themselves by means of inflicting pain and extreme conditions on their bodies. For example, many of the Saadhus worshipping their gods and at the same time mortifying their bodies by exposing them to extreme conditions like continuous fasting for many days, extreme cold and hot weathers, hanging on trees with their heads down, standing on one foot and engaging in other similar kind of activities in order to intensify their worship or penance, are also likely to be under the influence of this nakshatra. Hence, this nakshatra is most of the times related with some kind of violence, destruction or self mortification, hidden activities and above all the ability to possess dual nature and the ability to manage it skillfully. Most of the people who fool people by making themselves look like fools are under the influence of this nakshatra.

Vedic astrology assigns various professional fields to Poorvabhadrapada and accordingly the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra can be seen practicing as spies, detectives, secret agents and other people dealing in similar fields, coffin makers, cemetery keepers and other people related to the process of cremation or burial of the bodies after death, arms manufacturers, arms dealers and the people using these arms, scientists inventing the weapons of mass destruction and the people and organizations using these weapons, black magicians, psychics, tantrics, aghoris, saadhus practicing intense penance and other people engaged in similar practices, actors, TV artists, Stage artists and other people dealing in similar fields, militants and people working with militant organizations, terrorists, mafia people, criminals, murderers, serial killers, contract killers and other people dealing in similar fields, policemen, army personnel, soldiers and other people dealing in similar fields, revolutionaries, fundamentalists, fanatics and other people engaging in similar activities, drug dealers, chemists, doctors, people making, administrating and selling poisonous substances and many other kinds of people dealing in many other kinds of professional fields. Vedic astrology assigns a vast field of professions to this nakshatra and it is difficult to draw boundaries for the professional spheres associated with this nakshatra. Natives under the influence of this nakshatra are also seen practicing as mystery writers, science fiction writers, horror story writers, reporters and journalists and particularly the ones who report for the fields of crime, war, murder mysteries and other similar fields.

Taking a look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra which are considered important for making calculations like gun Milan for the purpose of horoscope matching for marriage, Vedic astrology considers Poorvabhadrapada as a Male nakshatra and this classification is explained on the basis of association of this nakshatra with Male planet Jupiter and Male deity Aja Ekapada. Jyoitsh considers Poorvabhadrapada as fierce in nature and passive in functioning and many Vedic astrologers believe that whereas the fierce nature of this nakshatra is evident from its working, the passive functioning is a factor that helps Poorvashada natives disguise themselves. Most astrologers assign the Varna of Brahmin to this nakshatra which seems to be quite the opposite of what this nakshatra deserves by virtue of its characteristics and functioning. Many astrologers explain this Caste classification on the basis of association of this nakshatra with Jupiter which is considered as a Brahmin planet in Indian Jyotish. The Gun of Sattawic is assigned to this nakshatra and this seemingly odd classification is again explained on the basis of association of this nakshatra with Jupiter. Vedic astrology assigns the Gan of Manav to Poorvabhadrapada and the element of Ether is assigned to this nakshatra and once again there is no convincing explanation available for the Gan classification of this nakshatra.
