When exalted Moon is placed in the second house in a horoscope, Aries rises in the ascendant. Exalted Moon is benefic in the second house in most cases though it may turn malefic in some cases. This generally happens when Moon is afflicted by malefic planets, such as through conjunction and/or aspects. As the number of malefic planets and the strengths of such planets increase, Moon may become more malefic.
If exalted Moon is afflicted by two or more than two malefic planets in the second house, it may turn significantly or highly malefic. Apart from that, the overall theme of horoscope having such exalted Moon can also turn it malefic in some cases, when such theme is highly malefic. Taking an example, suppose benefic exalted Moon is placed in the second house of a horoscope in Taurus. Mercury is placed in the third house in Gemini, benefic Sun is placed in the fourth house in Cancer, Rahu is placed in the fifth house in Leo and Ketu is placed in the eleventh house in Aquarius.
In this case, the native may become a doctor, engineer, administrative officer, revenue officer or some other professional working with government, depending on his overall horoscope. For instance, suppose benefic Venus is placed in the second house in Taurus with Moon, Jupiter is placed in the first house in Aries and a combination of exalted Mars and Saturn is placed in the tenth house in Capricorn. In this case, the native may get selected for the highest possible direct rank as a revenue officer or an administrative officer, depending on the finer factors and running times. Taking an example, suppose a combination of exalted Moon, Sun and Mercury is placed in the second house of a horoscope in Taurus. Suppose Moon and Sun are placed in the same nakshatra within the sign of Taurus. In this case, Moon may receive weakness due to combustion from Sun and it may get afflicted by malefic Mercury. As a result, the native may not have good relationship with his mother and the two of them may disagree on several issues.
If exalted Jupiter is placed in the fourth house in Cancer, the equation may become worse. The native may have to live away from his mother on account of various reasons. For instance, his parents may get divorced and the native may live with his father. Looking at another probability, the native may be sent away for education. Hence he may spend most of his childhood and youth years away from his mother. If malefic Ketu is placed in the fourth house in Cancer along with Jupiter, the equation may become more troublesome.
