Debilitated Mercury in Eighth House
When debilitated Mercury is placed in the eighth house in a horoscope, Leo rises in the ascendant. Debilitated Mercury is benefic in the eighth house in many cases though it may turn malefic in some cases. This may happen when Mercury is afflicted by malefic planets, such as through conjunction and/or aspects. As the number of malefic planets and the strengths of such planets increase, Mercury may become more malefic.
Since Mercury is weak due to debilitation, it may become easy for malefic planets to add negativity to Mercury. If debilitated Mercury is afflicted by one or more than one malefic planet in the eighth house, it may turn significantly or highly malefic. Apart from that, the overall theme of horoscope having such debilitated Mercury can also turn it malefic in some cases, when such theme is malefic. If benefic Mars is placed in the fourth house in Scorpio with Jupiter, and Moon is placed in the eleventh house in Gemini, the equation may become better. Mars may form Ruchaka Yoga in the fourth house and the overall horoscope may become strong as well as positive enough to handle the energy of the sixth house. Hence Saturn may form Vipreet Rajyoga in the eighth house. In this case, the native may become a scientist. He may get a job of authority in the government as a scientist and he may witness very good amount of success, recognition and authority during his career. Taking an example, suppose debilitated Mercury is placed in the eighth house of a horoscope in Pisces with malefic exalted Ketu. Malefic Ketu may transfer a lot of negative energy to Mercury and the latter may become significantly malefic. Exalted Rahu is placed in the second house in Virgo, debilitated Jupiter is placed in the sixth house in Capricorn, benefic Sun is placed in the seventh house in Aquarius and debilitated Mars is placed in the twelfth house in Cancer with malefic Moon. In this case, the native may not find a well-paying job till late in his life or throughout his life, depending on the overall horoscope and running times. He may get under-paying as well as temporary jobs and he may have to remain jobless for periods of more than 6 months, many times in his life.
If malefic Saturn is placed in the seventh house in Aquarius with Sun, and Venus is placed in the sixth house in Capricorn with Jupiter, the equation may become more troublesome. In this case, the native may not find a permanent job throughout his life and he may only find temporary jobs. He may not earn much from such jobs and he may also have to remain jobless for periods of more than 1 year, many times in his life. The native may suffer from financial tightness and he may face financial debts, many of which he may not be able to pay back in time or at all.
