Article 174

Taking another example, suppose exalted Saturn is placed in the tenth house of a horoscope in Libra and a combination of Venus and Mercury is placed in the first house in Capricorn. Within Capricorn, Venus is placed in Pisces navamsha of Uttarashada and Mercury is placed in Taurus navamsha of Shravana nakshatra. Saturn and Venus are benefic whereas Mercury is partly benefic and partly malefic. Venus is stronger than Mercury due to navamsha placement. As a result, Mercury may become more benefic due to strong influence of benefic Venus. Hence Shankh Yoga may be formed in this case.

Let’s look at influences of other planets as well as the overall theme of horoscope on Shankh yoga. Suppose in the same horoscope; malefic Sun and Ketu are placed in the first house in Capricorn with Venus and Mercury; and malefic Jupiter is placed in the tenth house in Libra with Saturn. All planets involved in the formation of Shankh Yoga are afflicted by malefic planets in this case. Hence the strength of Shankh Yoga may be reduced a lot and the native may not benefic much from it.

Suppose debilitated Mars is placed in the seventh house in Cancer along with malefic Rahu; and Moon is placed in the twelfth house in Sagittarius, in Aries navamsha of Moola nakshatra. Sun and Ketu may turn Mercury much more malefic and Venus may also witness serious damage. Hence the overall combination in the first house may become malefic or highly malefic; depending on nakshatra and navamsha placements of Sun, Venus, Mercury and Ketu.

Mars is debilitated, it may get afflicted by Rahu and it may receive a lot of negative energy from the combination in the first house. Hence it may also turn partly malefic. Moon forms Gandmool Dosh in Aries navamsha of Moola nakshatra and it is placed in a difficult house. As the combined result of these factors; Shankh Yoga may get cancelled out and the native may suffer from significant/serious problems related to many spheres of his life. Among them; the spheres of health, lifespan, profession and marriage may suffer the most. The concept of benefic planets turning malefic due to influences of malefic planets has been explained in Manglik Dosh section of the book ‘Match Making and Manglik Dosh (Revised Edition)’.

Let’s see what may happen when Shankh Yoga is influenced by benefic planets. Suppose Venus and Mercury in the first house in Capricorn; and exalted Saturn in the tenth house in Libra form Shankh Yoga and Shasha Yoga in a horoscope. Suppose benefic exalted Mars forms Ruchaka Yoga in the first house, benefic exalted Moon is placed in the fifth house in Taurus, Sun is placed in the twelfth house in Sagittarius and Jupiter is placed in the eighth house in Leo. Benefic Rahu is placed in the tenth house in Libra with Saturn; and Ketu is placed in the fourth house in Aries.

Mars is very strong and Venus is strong in Capricorn. The influence of these two strong benefic planets may turn Mercury much more benefic. Hence the overall combination in the first house may become highly benefic and the first house may be highly empowered. Exalted Saturn and benefic Rahu may add more strength to the tenth house as well as to the first house since Saturn is the lord of ascendant. Exalted Moon may add much more strength to the fifth house as well as to the overall horoscope.

As a result; the overall horoscope may become strong and benefic. Hence Jupiter may form Vimala Yoga in the eighth house and Sun may form Sarala Yoga in the twelfth house. As the combined result of all these factors; the native may witness very good results related to many spheres of his life and the sphere of profession may benefit the most. Such horoscope may bless the native with a post of high or very high authority in government or it may bless him with billions through business; depending on the finer factors and running times.

After this, the field of impact of this yoga is checked. It is checked through the placements of planets involved in its formation in various houses of horoscope. In the recent example, Venus and Mercury are placed in the first house whereas Saturn is placed in the tenth house. Hence the primary and secondary benefic results of such Shankh Yoga may reflect through the spheres of health, lifespan, profession, reputation, fame, authority, finances, marriage (male natives), children, wealth, properties, family, speech and a number of other spheres.
