Article 145

The seventh house of horoscope represents the event of marriage, happiness in marriage, longevity of marriage, husband, wife, partnerships, alliances, genitals, sexual acts and many other things.

Venus is the general signifier of wife in case of male natives and Jupiter is the general signifier of husband in case of female natives. However, both husband and wife are specifically represented by the seventh house. Hence the lord of the seventh house represents both husband as well as wife.

The seventh house deals with the event of marriage or timing of marriage, which means it indicates during what age the native may get marriage. This house also represents happiness in marriage as well as longevity of marriage. These are three different aspects of marriage and a horoscope may be blessed with one, two or three of them. For example, a native may get married at proper age if the first aspect is fine. However, he may suffer from bad marriage and such marriage may break; when the other two aspects are not good in his horoscope.

Taking another case, a native may get marriage at proper age and he may even enjoy good marriage. However, his husband or wife may be lost through an unfortunate event like death; if the third aspect is not good in his marriage. Hence the sphere of marriage may be called blessed when all three factors are good in a horoscope.

When malefic Mars forms Manglik Dosh in the seventh house of a horoscope; the native may face wide variety of problems related to his marriage; depending on his overall horoscope.

Once the formation of Manglik Dosh is confirmed, the next thing to check is its strength. The strength of Manglik Dosh is checked through the placement of Mars in various signs, nakshatras and navamshas. Apart from that, the influences of benefic and malefic planets on Mars; the overall theme of the horoscope and the running times may also affect the strength of Manglik Dosh. Let’s look into these factors.

Let’s start with signs and let’s look at the general trends. Manglik Dosh formed in various houses may possess minimum strength when Mars is placed in Cancer since Mars is debilitated in this sign. This defect may be significant or strong but not very strong when Mars is placed in Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Aquarius or Pisces. Manglik Dosh may become strong or very strong when Mars is placed in Aries, Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius or Capricorn.

Let’s take an example for Manglik Dosh in the seventh house; to understand this concept in a better manner. Suppose malefic Mars forms Manglik Dosh in the seventh house of a horoscope in Sagittarius. Gemini rises in the ascendant and Mars rules the sixth and eleventh house in this horoscope. Mars is strong in Sagittarius. Hence such Manglik Dosh may create very serious or destructive type of problems related to the spheres affected by it.

Through its general as well as specific significances; Mars represents courage, bravery, initiative, immunity, reforms, aggression, stubbornness, impulsiveness, anger, hot-headedness, profession, financial gains, increments, expansions, friends, associates, networks, economies, stock markets, sudden gains, profits, goals, ambitions, greed, diseases, disputes, disagreements, arguments, litigations, court cases, financial debts, enemies and crime among other things.

Hence such Manglik Dosh may create a number of problems related to the marriage of the native; depending on the relevant factors as well as on the overall horoscope. Such Manglik Dosh is generally not interested in delaying the marriage of the native. However, it may trouble the native with some of the most serious type of problems related to marriage; or through marriage. Since Mars is strong in Sagittarius; such Manglik Dosh on its own may break two or three marriages of the native.

Such Manglik Dosh may prove more troublesome in the horoscope of a female native than that of a male native. Sagittarius falls in the seventh house and Jupiter becomes the lord of the seventh house. In case of females, Jupiter is the general signifier of marriage. In this particular case; it also becomes the specific signifier of marriage. The seventh house is seriously afflicted and there is only one planet which may directly repair the damage. Hence this equation is not good for a female native. It means that even if Jupiter is healthy and well placed in one such horoscope, a female native may not witness as much relief as a male native.

In case of a male native; there are two planets (Venus and Jupiter) which can directly repair the damage caused to the seventh house. Hence the chances are better in this case. Taking an example for female native; even if Jupiter is placed in the tenth house in Pisces or in the second house in Cancer; such Manglik Dosh may still break one or two marriages of the native; on its own.

Taking an example for male native; if exalted Jupiter is placed in the second house in Pisces and Venus is placed in the fifth house in Libra or in the tenth house in Pisces; much relief may be witnessed. If the rest of the horoscope is not troublesome for marriage; the native may be able to save his first marriage; despite significant problems and setbacks during the initial years.

Let’s look at the types of problems that this defect may cause. Such Manglik Dosh may create problems related to compatibility between the native and his wife. The couple may disagree on a number of things or they may disagree on most things. Hence the couple may engage in arguments, disputes, verbal abuse and even physical fights, from time to time. If the native is female, such Manglik Dosh may get married her to a native who may beat her and who may physically abuse her in many ways.

Drawing a comparison, the native having a malefic combination of Mars, Venus and Rahu in the fourth house may physically as well as sexually abuse his wife; as discussed in the chapter ‘Manglik Dosh in Fourth House’. However in this case, the husband of this female native may not abuse her sexually and he may only engage in physical violence against her. Another point to be noted is that in the former case; the native is the one who engages in such acts of violence and abuse. However in this case, the native is the victim of such acts of violence.

In an extreme case of this type when the overall horoscope is also malefic, the husband of such female native may seriously injure her or even kill her. Taking an example, suppose a malefic combination of Jupiter and Rahu is placed in the sixth house in Scorpio, malefic Ketu is placed in the twelfth house in Taurus, a malefic combination of Mercury, Sun and retrograde Venus is placed in the eighth house in Capricorn and malefic retrograde exalted Saturn is placed in the fifth house in Libra in Chitra nakshatra.

In this case, the native may get killed by her husband. The husband may do so in the heat of the moment when both of them may be fighting or he may kill her through planned murder; depending on the finer factors as well as on the running time. For example, if Moon is placed in the eleventh house in Aries in the third quarter of Bharani nakshatra; the native may get killed in the heat of the moment. The couple may fight with each other, the husband may get out of control and he may strike a deadly blow to the native.

On the other hand, if Moon is placed in the second house of this horoscope in Cancer in the first part of Ashlesha nakshatra; native’s husband may kill her through planned murder. In this case, the husband is likely to have an extramarital affair. The other woman in the equation may encourage the native to get rid of his wife. The two of them may plot a murder conspiracy and that woman may also be an accomplice to the native; in such act of murder.

Looking at the first case, the native is born under Venus Mahadasha with about 10 years of this period left. It means the period of Mars may rule the timeline between this native’s age of 26 and 33. During this period, the native may get killed by her husband, in the heat of the moment; if malefic Mars is placed in Aries navamsha of Moola nakshatra; within the sign of Sagittarius. Native’s husband may hit her with a sharp object like a knife or he may shoot her.

Looking at the second case, the native is born under Mercury period with about 15 years left. The period of Venus rules the timeline between this native’s age of 22 and 42; and the native may get killed during this period. In this case, native’s husband and his lover may plot murder and they may kill the native in a planned manner; if Mars is placed in Scorpio navamsha of Poorvashada nakshatra; within the sign of Sagittarius. The native is likely to be murdered in a way that it may look like an accident; or the native’s body may be disposed in a way that no one may be able to find it.

In the first case when Moon is placed in Bharani; native’s husband is likely to get caught and he may face prison sentence for murder. However in the second case, the husband may not get caught and he may escape the punishment.

Moving on, let’s see how the placement of Mars in various nakshatras within the sign of Sagittarius may affect the outcomes of Manglik Dosh in the seventh house. The sign of Sagittarius features 3 nakshatras; Moola, Poorvashada and Uttarashada.

If Mars is placed in Moola nakshatra; the problems may be serious, very serious or destructive. Moola is a difficult to handle nakshatra and it loves engaging in destructive acts. Hence Manglik Dosh formed in this nakshatra may trouble the native with a number of serious or very serious problems related to his marriage. The type and quantum of such problems may change, depending on placement of Mars in various navamshas within this nakshatra. This type of Manglik Dosh may be more interested in breaking the marriages of the native; than in delaying his marriage.

If Mars is placed in Poorvashada nakshatra, the problems may be serious or very serious; depending on placement of Mars in various navamshas within this nakshatra. This type of Manglik Dosh can delay the marriage of the native, though it may be more interested in breaking the marriage or marriages of the native.

If Mars is placed in Uttarashada, the problems may be serious or very serious. This type of Manglik Dosh can delay the marriage of the native and it can also break two, three or more marriages of the native.

Looking at navamshas, the sign of Sagittarius features 9 navamshas. Moola rules Aries to Cancer navamshas, Poorvashada rules Leo to Scorpio navamshas and Uttarashada rules Sagittarius navamsha. If Mars is placed in Virgo or Libra navamsha, the native may face significant or serious problems related to the spheres affected by this defect.

If Mars is placed in Taurus, Gemini or Cancer navamsha; the native may face serious or very serious problems. Though Mars is debilitated in Cancer; its placement in this navamsha in this case may still create serious problems. This is because Mars is strong in the sign of Sagittarius and it is very good at using the energy of Moola nakshatra. Hence even the weakest placement of malefic Mars in this nakshatra may create serious problems.

If Mars is placed in Aries, Leo, Scorpio or Sagittarius navamsha; the problems may be very serious or destructive. Mars is strong in all these signs. Accordingly, Manglik Dosh so formed may be strong or very strong. Among these navamshas; placement of Mars in Aries navamsha may form the most destructive type of Manglik Dosh within the sign of Sagittarius. Mars is strong in Aries and this navamsha is ruled by Moola nakshatra which loves engaging in acts of destruction.

Moving on, the influences of benefic and malefic planets on Mars in a horoscope. Suppose malefic Mars forms Manglik Dosh in the seventh house of a horoscope in Sagittarius and benefic Jupiter is also placed in the seventh house.

This placement may benefit a male native more than a female native. This is because Jupiter is the general as well as the specific signifier of marriage in case the native is female. Since Jupiter as well as the seventh house is afflicted by Mars; she may face problems. However, such problems may be significant or serious and they may not be very serious or destructive; due to the intervention of Hamsa Yoga.

In case the native is male, Jupiter is the specific signifier and Venus is the general signifier of marriage. It means if Venus is strong and clean in the horoscope; the native may gain extra advantage for affairs related to marriage. However, the same fact may turn into disadvantage if Venus is weak or afflicted in the horoscope.

Taking an example, if Venus is placed in the fifth house of this horoscope in Libra; the native may gain advantage. In this case, the native may be able to save his first marriage; if the rest of his horoscope is supportive. On the other hand, if debilitated Venus is placed in the fourth house of this horoscope in Virgo; the native may have disadvantage. In this case, the native may face one or two broken marriages; unless there are strong benefic influences which try to save his marriage. For instance, if benefic exalted Mercury and Moon are also placed in the fourth house with debilitated Venus; the native may be able to save his first marriage.

Let’s go back to the basic setup of Mars and Jupiter in the seventh house. Suppose benefic Moon is also placed in the seventh house in Poorvashada nakshatra. Benefic Moon forms Gaj Kesari Yoga with Jupiter in the seventh house; and the primary benefits of this yoga may appear in the sphere of marriage. Benefic Jupiter and Moon may overpower malefic Mars. Hence the strength of Manglik Dosh may reduce a lot. The overall combination may become more benefic than malefic. As a result, the native may witness a number of good results due to this combination; in many spheres of his life.

Since Mars rules the eleventh house, Jupiter rules the tenth house and Moon rules the second house; this combination may become a potential Dhan Yoga (wealth producing combination). Hence the native may witness maximum benefits related to profession, finances and wealth. However, the sphere of marriage may still suffer though not seriously or very seriously in this case.

This combination may prove more beneficial for a female native than a male native. The seventh house is empowered and the female native may not need to depend on other planets to support her marriage. Hence she may be able to save as well as enjoy her first marriage; though she may face problems during the initial years of her marriage. The combination in the seventh house may not only bless her with very good amount of professional success; but it may also bless her with rich, successful and resourceful husband. Such female native may get married to a businessman or a celebrity; depending on the finer factors as well as on the running times.

In case the native is male; the overall equation of marriage is still dependent on Venus. If Venus is strong and clean, the native may witness result related to marriage; which may be even better than those experienced by the female native. However if Venus is troubled; the native may face problem related to marriage.

Taking an example, if Venus is placed in the second house in Cancer in Pushya nakshatra; the native may gain advantage. The native may save and enjoy his first marriage; despite problems and setbacks at times. On the other hand, if Venus is placed in the sixth house in Scorpio; the native may lose advantage provided by the combination in the seventh house. In this case, the native may face one or two broken marriages, depending on the finer factors as well as on the running times. The first marriage of the native may break due to his engagement in an extramarital affair.

Let’s see what may happen when malefic planets influence Manglik Dosh in a horoscope. Suppose malefic Mars forms Manglik Dosh in the seventh house of a horoscope in Sagittarius and malefic Ketu is also placed in the same house. Such malefic combination may delay the marriage of the native and it may also break multiple marriages of the native; depending on his overall horoscope.

The marriage may sustain, primarily because of compromises and not because of love or affection. It means that the native may get so tired of broken marriages that he may settle for whatever he gets and he may make any compromise it takes to save his marriage. Hence such marriage may exist on papers; but there may be no marriage in reality. Such malefic combination may absolutely deny the finest features of marriage like love, care, affection and understanding; unless there are strong benefic planets which create such features.

For example, if a benefic combination of Moon and Jupiter is placed in the tenth house of this horoscope in Pisces; the native may witness significant relief. The native may settle in his second or third marriage and he may also enjoy aspects like love, care and affection; though the couple may still not develop good understanding between them. It means the marriage may survive and thrive on love and affection; instead of surviving on understanding. Hence the couple may have their differences; they may argue and they may fight. However, a bond of love and attachment may save their marriage.

Let’s get back to the basic setup of Mars and Ketu in the seventh house. Suppose Venus is also placed in the seventh house in Sagittarius. Both Mars and Ketu are strong in Sagittarius and Venus is no match for them. As a result, both these planets may seriously afflict Venus; apart from afflicting each other. Hence Venus may turn significantly malefic in this case. Though all these planets may attack the significances of the other planets; those of Venus may be hit most severely.

As a result; the most prominent effects may be felt in the sphere of marriage and children; since Venus rules the fifth house. If this is the horoscope of male native; marriage may prove to be a disastrous sphere in his life. The native may face three, four or more failed and/or horrible marriages. The native may lose some of this wives to divorces whereas some others may be claimed by death. With this type of malefic combination; the first wife of the native is highly likely to die; unless there are strong benefic planets counteracting this factor. For example, if a benefic combination of Moon, Jupiter and Mercury is placed in the fifth house in Libra; no wife of the native may die; though the native may still face broken marriage or marriages.

Let’s return to the basic setup of Mars, Venus and Ketu in the seventh house. The native under the attack of such malefic combination may not be able to enjoy marriage; even if he gets married for the seventh or eighth time; unless there are strong benefic planets which support marriage. Depending on the rest of his horoscope; the native may get so scared of marriage; after witnessing horrible experiences through his first two or three broken marriages; that he may choose to remain single for the rest of his life.

The decision of this native to remain single may not come from disinterest in women or in marriage. Such decision may come from deep rooted fear of horrible experiences that marriage may put him through. Hence a part of the native may wish to get married again and take chances; as he may wish to enjoy the benefits of a good marriage. However, another part of him may scare him away from this thought; showing him the fearful fate of such marriage; based on the experiences of previous marriages. Whether the native chooses to marry again and suffers through such marriage; or he chooses not to marry and suffer due to lack of marriage; depends on his overall horoscope.

The situation may be very bad in case of a female native also; though in different ways. If Jupiter is strong, clean and empowered in the horoscope, the native may be able to save her second or third marriage. However, she may suffer from horrible experiences through marriages; especially through her first marriage. The couple may witness serious differences of opinion, arguments, disputes, fights and verbal as well as physical abuse through the marriage. The native may be severely beaten or injured by her first husband, a number of times; unless there are strong benefic planets which protect her. In an extreme case of this type when such malefic combination is supported by an overall weak or malefic horoscope; the native may get killed by her first husband; in the heat of the moment.

Such malefic combination may also trouble the native with problems related to children and these problems may be much more severe in case the native is female. This is because Venus represents the ability to produce children in case of female natives. Venus rules the fifth house in this horoscope; and this house deals with children. Apart from that, a male native may not go through the physical complications related to conception and delivery. Hence the female native may suffer much more than the male native; with this type of malefic combination in the seventh house.

Such native may witness more than one abortion or miscarriage and she may have to wait a lot; before she may give birth to a child. She may also face a number of medical complications while trying to conceive or after she has conceived. In an extreme case of this type, such female native may not be able to deliver even one alive child during her lifetime; though she may have some abortions and miscarriages. Looking at another extreme variation, such female native may die while trying to deliver her first child, due to serious medical complications; and the child may also die.

These problems may be reduced significantly; only if strong benefic planets directly influence the fifth house of this horoscope. Taking an example, if a benefic combination of Moon, Jupiter and Mercury is placed in the fifth house of this horoscope in Libra; the native may be able to deliver more than one child. However, she may still face medical complications and she may witness a miscarriage also. Such benefic combination may also help her a lot with problems related to marriage; though not as much as it may help with problems related to children.

This is because this combination is placed in the fifth house. Hence the primary effects of this combination may reflect through the fifth house and the seventh house may benefit on secondary basis. Whenever a benefic or malefic planet or a combination is placed in any house of a horoscope; primary effects may appear in the spheres of life; represented by such house. If it is a combination instead of being a planet; secondary benefic or malefic effects may appear in the spheres of life; represented by the general as well as specific significances of such planets.

In the present case, a benefic combination of Moon, Jupiter and Mercury is placed in the fifth house. Hence primary benefits may reflect through the fifth house. After that, the native may witness benefic results related to the general and specific significances of these three planets. Since Jupiter rules the seventh house, the sphere of marriage may also benefit. Apart from that, the spheres represented by the second house (ruled by Moon) and the spheres represented by the first as well as fourth house (ruled by Mercury) may also benefit on secondary basis.

Hence this benefic combination may prove very good whether the native is male or female. This combination indicates benefic results related to the general significances of Moon, Jupiter and Mercury; as well as those related to the significances of the first, second, fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth house. Since 6 out of 12 houses and 3 important planets are engaged in this benefic combination; the overall theme of the horoscope may witness significant shift towards positivity; despite the strong malefic combination present in the seventh house. As a result; the native may witness very good results related to profession, health, finances, wealth and many other spheres. However, the sphere of marriage may still be troubled; since strong Manglik Dosh supported by malefic Venus and Ketu is present in the seventh house.
