Important Yogas in Vedic Astrology
                                                                    
                            Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh is considered as one of the worst yogas which can be formed in a horoscope as it can bring very bad results for the native under the strong influence of this yog. According to the prevalent definition of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh, it is said that if there is no planet on either sides of the Moon in a horoscope, a Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh is formed in the horoscope which can make the native suffer from extreme problems like extreme poverty, diseases, troubles all around, enemies, disgrace, failed marriage and many other such bad things. Many Vedic astrologers believe that the natives under the strong influence of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh lead a very miserable life and they are always troubled on account of one problem or the other and at least one field of such natives’ life is permanently damaged which means that some natives under the strong influence of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh may suffer from extreme troubles in married life or they may not get married at all, some natives may not be able to produce any children throughout their lives, some natives may not be able to establish a profession almost for their entire life due to the malefic influence of Kemdrum Yog and some other natives may have to lead a life of poverty and disgrace due to malefic effects of Kemdrum Dosh. Some astrologers believe that some natives under the strong influence of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh may have to spend a big part of their lives in Jail or these natives may be banished from their countries for a very long period of time or they may have to unwillingly live away from their motherland on account of one problem or the other. The social status and reputation of the natives suffering from Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh always remains below average and they may have to face social disgrace more than once in their lives.

                           Analyzing the definition of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh, it can be easily found out that Kemdrum Yog is formed in many horoscopes according to the condition mentioned in its definition. As the malefic effects given by this yoga are very bad and accordingly they are likely to be rare because not many people are likely to suffer from this defect which gives a life of complete failure. Hence some astrologers believe that there should be more conditions for the formation of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh which make it a rare to form yog and which seem practical in real life. To start with these additional conditions, there should be no planet present with Moon, and there should be no planet present in house which are 2nd and 12 from the Moon except Rahu and Ketu. No planet should be present in Kendra houses of horoscope which means that no planet should be present in 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th house of the horoscope, except Rahu and Ketu which are considered as an exception to this condition. And finally no planet should aspect Moon in the horoscope in order for Kemdrum Yog to form in a horoscope in its complete sense. And though these conditions are themselves capable of making Kemdrum Yog a rare yog but I have seen in my personal experience and practice of astrology that there are some other factors which can affect the formation of Kemdrum Dosh in a horoscope and before looking at these important facts, let’s first try to understand the logic behind the formation of Kemdrum Dosh.

                         Moon is considered as the most important planet in Vedic Jyotish which can be concluded from the facts that Moon sign is considered as the birth sign or Raashi of native, Moon nakshatra is considered as the birth nakshatra of the native, planetary periods are based on Moon, the system of Gun Milan which is used for horoscope matching is entirely based on the placement of Moon in a particular nakshatra and in a particular sign and finally Moon chart is still considered very important by many Vedic astrologers. It is obvious from the above facts that Moon is considered as the most important planet in Vedic Jyotish and when this most important Moon becomes alone and deprived from the company of any other planet both by placement and aspect and at the same time there is no activity in the most important 4 houses of the horoscope which are called Kendra houses of the horoscope, it simply means that the horoscope is missing each and everything which is capable of causing important and good events and hence such a horoscope is considered as good for nothing and a Kemdrum Yog is said to be formed in the horoscope. So the whole point of formation of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh in a horoscope is that the most important planet Moon and the most important houses of the horoscope which are 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th are all deprived of any kind of company and activity, especially good and benefic activity which results in no good happening to the native. I have seen many horoscopes in which only the first condition of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh is met which means that there are no planets on either side of the Moon, and I have found that many natives having this kind of horoscope are leading very good lives and they are doing well on all fronts of their lives which gives us a reason to believe that Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh is not formed when only one condition is satisfied.

                            On the other hand, when more conditions are observed for the formation of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh, the problems increase for the native. I have seen that the natives having a lone Moon in their horoscope and also having all Kendra houses of their horoscopes empty and not having any planetary aspect to the Moon are the ones who are actually suffering from Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh and most of these natives are struggling with their lives on one front or the other. It has also come to my observation that the presence of Rahu and Ketu with Moon, in houses 2 and 12 from the Moon or in any of Kendra houses is a strong exception only when Rahu and Ketu are working as malefic planets in the horoscope whereas the intensity of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh decreases when Rahu and Ketu are present in any one of the above mentioned combinations and they are benefic in the horoscope at the same time. Logically thinking, the presence of any benefic planet in important houses of a horoscope or with Moon should reduce the intensity of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh in the horoscope and this is what happens when Rahu and Ketu become benefic in a horoscope. I have seen that the natives with benefic Rahu and Ketu placed in one of the above mentioned combinations in their horoscopes are not suffering as much from Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh as much the natives with malefic Rahu and Ketu are suffering. It has also come to my observation that the aspect cast on a lone Moon from a malefic planet does not count much towards reducing the intensity of Kemdrum Yog and in some cases, such an aspect can increase the strength of Kemdrum dosh in the horoscope whereas the aspect cast from a benefic planet on Moon can significantly reduce the intensity of Kemdrum Yog in the horoscope depending upon the strength of this benefic aspect. It should further be noted that Kemdrum Dosh intensifies even more when apart from meeting all the above mentioned conditions, Moon is a malefic in the horoscope as that adds to the negativity of the equation whereas the adverse effects of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh are reduced when such a Moon is working as a strong benefic in the horoscope.

                                 The placement of Moon in a particular house and in a particular sign in the horoscope should also be analyzed as these factors can also change the malefic effects of Kemdrum Dosh. For example, a Kemdrum Yog formed by the placement of Moon in Scorpio is more malefic than the one which has the Moon placed in Cancer or Taurus. Similarly the placement of Moon in 5th or 9th house of a horoscope can reduce the malefic effects of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh whereas the placement of Moon in 8th house can make the situation even worse. And finally, the horoscope should also be checked for the presence of other benefic and malefic yogas as the presence of one or more than one strong benefic yogas can reduce the malefic effects of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh whereas the presence of one or more than one malefic yogas in the horoscope can increase the malefic effects of Kemdrum Dosh. A combination of Kemdrum Yog and Kaal Sarp yog in a horoscope can cause disasters for the natives as this can simply be one of the worst combinations possible in Vedic astrology. Hence all the important facts should be analyzed from the horoscope and only then, the formation of Kemdrum Yog or Kemdrum Dosh should be confirmed in the horoscope and predicting this Yog merely on the basis of one condition should be avoided as it can discourage the native when he comes to know that he is suffering from Kemdrum Yog while in reality he may not be suffering from this yog.
